  • Mark and I fly across the county in the Lancair while Mike takes the sardine can to visit Lycoming. While there we got to see one engine being built and the other running on the test stand. These engines will be installed on our race planes which are cubcrafters carbon cubs. A typical carbon cub is 170-180 horsepower. These engines will produce 300 HP at 2700 RPM and higher horsepower at race RPM. Please subscribe and ring the bell to follow the build of Deception (Jason Sneed) Scrappy (Mike Patey) and Ambush (Mark Patey).

    You've really stoked my passion for General Aviation; Jason; Mark, and Mike. I went out and bought a 1:250,000 aeronautical chart of where I live. Looking for a school now. My Grandfather, Father and Mother were pilots, though mother was a glider pilot she earned her silver C. I've completed the elementary paraglider course too. You are Ambassadors! Thank you.

    Thanks for making videos that allow me to live my dreams of aviation vicariously through you (and the other Flying Cowboys)! My grandfather (Owen Black) used to take me up in his Cessna back when I was a teen and I reminisce about the good old days of flying with him frequently! An engineer friend of his (Neil Brutsche) designed an all metal ultralight called the "Freedom 28" and my grandfather built it for him. They took it to Oshkosh and won some awards with it 😎. Unfortunately they've both passed on. Grandpa passed while I was on my last deployment to the middle east this year and that's when I stumbled upon the videos that you and the Flying Cowboys have on UA-cam. Long winded comment. .. but I just wanted to express gratitude for your content and the quality thereof! Thanks again for another great video (distraction 😎)!

    Loved seeing the final assembly area, but would also have loved to see some of the actual manufacture of the components that go to make up the core engine. I just love watching machining processes where a basic chunk of metal is converted into a precision aircraft part.
    Thanks for the short but sweet video.

    Would love to have heard commentary on Williamsport itself....has they gone there before Marcellus fracking, it would have been a ghost town. Now it's poppin!

    • @jsullivan05
      @jsullivan05 3 роки тому

      Have you ever been here? Literally only the pricks getting bribes are okay with MarSha, ~90% of the town is against it, they had to put together a special panel a few months ago just to try to convince people that they weren't completely fucking our environment over, their initial spiel to the farmers was "it's okay if we destroy your land, we're paying you for it", now they're trying to talk about property value of farms while in the town it's plummeted, no one wants to buy fracked land because they know what they eventually means, we're going to be the next Flint. Meanwhile regulators are finding failures left and fucking right with MarSha. They employeed maybe 20-25 people from the town by the way, a fraction of what the hospital or the construction companies do. God I hate people who speak out of their asses.

    • @lestaylor8832
      @lestaylor8832 3 роки тому

      @@jsullivan05 Of course I've been there. I've been there when it was a run down shit hole.... Came back during the Marcellus boom had to stand in line to get into a bar for dinner. Had to go to 2 different motels to get a Room. Not sure that you understand what economic expansion is all about

    • @jsullivan05
      @jsullivan05 3 роки тому

      @@lestaylor8832 I live here, I mean I actually live in town, I have for over several decades now, and I don't have the slightest clue what the hell you are talking about. That fracking company has destroyed our property value and whatever "economic boom" you're talking about never happened, so many people fled when MarSha moved in the value of everything plummeted, the few families that did move here didn't nearly make up for the loss in value. Please stop talking about something you have zero clue about. MarSha is fracking hated in this town, and I sure can't wait for us to turn into Flint or any of the other several dozen towns that have been ruined by fracking. This town got sold by our republican leadership, who get FAT checks and then abandoned us, voted right my entire life, so did almost the entire town, we all voted democrat last time around, they're still trying to fix this mess and shut MarSha down for us but it's looking like we got completely and fully screwed. Now for the love of god please please please stop acting like fracking saved this town, it's damn near destroyed it.

    Lycoming is totally awesome! I expect to put a 180 hp IO-360 in my Cozy MkIV one day. Looking into Sky Dynamics’ full suite of engine mods to get a bit better fuel efficiency, a tad more power, better reliability in the ignition system than mags provide, and come out a tad less on weight than the stock engine. Comparing what Sky Dynamics can do with Lycoming’s own Thunderbolt premium line.

    So I have to ask. What timing. I am thinking about buying a Lancair. Never been in one so I'll ask you guys. I'm 6'3" and 240. Not to fat just kinda big. Would I fit in there with any room to spare or would I break the plane? I know I fit in a C-130 but the gas bill is a bit much.
