He was literally asked the question about the American players on a US soccer podcast that he used to co-host. It was a 45-minute interview that centered around the Canadian team, the US team, and the game on Saturday. It wasn't like he just brought it up out of nowhere. 😂

You guys are jealous of how successful Jesse has been.
First of all, yours is the 2nd U.S. podcast that I have listened to where it was made clear that you don't like that Jesse said that he would sing the Canadian National anthem; but not the U.S. one. There was a lot of sarcasm in that statement!
Of course he's not going to sing the U.S. anthem in front of his players in a match vs the U.S. That would be foolish. As someone else said, can you imagine Pochettino coaching the U.S. team in a match vs Argentina & Pochettino would be belting out the Argentinian anthem in front of his U.S. team? No way!
Secondly, you are saying that Jesse should not be getting distracted from coaching Canada by his U.S. thoughts.
Trust me, Canadians are all 100% satisfied that Jesse is laser focused on the Canadian team.
You are acting like you know nothing about Jesse Marsch. The guy is as honest, forthright & speaks his mind, as a person gets & he simply said, after he was asked about Berhalter, by his old podcast buddies, what all other Americans are thinking or saying.

I appreciate USMNT coverage on ESPN FC for the most part(besides Burley) but this seems like a reach for clicks/views
Marsch was asked a DIRECT question literally twice by Jimmy Conrad
He gave a diplomatic coach speak answer the first time and Conrad cornered him into a deeper dive into a player pool he's intimate with and was vying to manage
Also also Marsch was a former host on the very same podcast he was a guest on so there's a sense of familiarity with the hosts AND the player pool
Saying "no comment" is worse than keeping it real AND he didn't even really go in on the players he correctly relayed/reminded us the core of the squad wanted Berhalter back or at the very least backed him in public so it's weird for them to desire discipline now
Herc is the man and the voice of the people but this was extremely disingenuous and misleading

There are many systemic issues with American soccer, but the infestation of the ESPN “hot take” crowd that you all are a part of does nothing to fix any of it. The thing about Jesse Marsch is that he is perhaps the first American coach that went in search of international bona fides with the idea of combining it with the things that always made Americans tough to play against. Gregg Berhalter was a hipster doofus that always looked like he was thumbing through a copy of “How To Use Rondos To Play Possession Soccer.” Jesse was absolutely correct in his comments: the US Fed didn’t have the guts to leave Gregg out of the picture because it would always be assumed that it was because of the Reyna issue. The players that backed him did so for that reason, it was all PR. They needed to show a united front that the Fed wasn’t a pushover. When his performance once again became an issue (it always was, mind you), they had their out. YOU are the ones, with your hot take nonsense, who want Marsch’s comments to be a problem rather a commentary on the reality of this nation’s soccer program.

The jealousy in these 3 answers is laughable.
Jesse has coached some major teams & he has a strong resume.
He is also a very honest, straight forward communicator, which is usually the best kind of coach.

I knew the real reason to bash Jessie was about not singing the US anthem on Saturday. Jessie has been R I N O `d by US soccer just like Taylor Swift (NFL fans ) and Kapernick ( NFL fans). Ask him if he recites the pledge of allegiance on a daily basis, if not, cast him to the curb. I take his opinion of the hiring process over yours as he was involved and yall were not.

😐It’s Pochettino. Not poccetino. And true, but watch him leave in a few months time to Man United or elsewhere😂.

@@G10-n7f he'll be here for the wc, it's a big stage for him, I just hope fifa gives us a weak group, weak bracket, 😆

@@brando7266 🤔I don’t know club football is more fulfilling for most coaches as it’s a week to week basis instead of every few months like it is for national teams. But it’s like you said it’s the World Cup and that’s a big deal for him. And I agree Pochettino is definitely going to need a weak group to be able to compete with these crappy players😂😒.

He should be focused on their drone and camera cheating game. He sounds so bitter.
