I used to play this in my shop. I would offer to buy this album for any kid who could jeep up with the main drum in the first few minutes. It was fun to see the attempts.
As a french speaker, I really don't have a clue what he meant with the lyrics : "qui bon très bien" which is french but doesn't mean anything 🤨 It is funny to hear him speak french
Well pale face said To the eyeball kid She just goes clank and boom and steam A halo, wings, horns and a tail Shoveling coal inside my dreams There are no laws She's made of cream She's such a scream Qui bon tres bien, nails in cement A Donnie gal from mortal clay The plow is red The well is full, inside The dollhouse of her skull A cheetah coat fills up with steam She's such a scream All crooked lines Her fireplace A milktrain so clean Machine gun haste You'll ride the only wall of shame And drag that chain across the state Her lips are red She is the queen She's such a scream...
This is really the only song I’d dare say has any overt Beefheart influence, and even then Waits puts far more of a funky James Brown vibe into it than anything. It’s more the atypical, seemingly “broken” rhythms that harken to vintage Beefheart. As far as the growly voice goes I think Tom & Don were just about equally influenced by Howlin Wolf.

"Such A Scream" really hits me in my Captain Beefheart
The ballads are always great... but this is just another level of Waits. The purest form.
Country music from an industrial nightmare

Cool metric, man.
BTW,
I know what a typo is...but I like the idea of having to Jeep Up.
A non gendered Man Up.
Hey if they got the spirit to bang that sh!t out, they are worthy!
@@TeatroGrotesco LOL!! I knew what he meant!
"SHE JUST GOES CLANK AND BOOM AND STEAM!"
One of my favorite lines in any song!!!
Tom Waits can do no wrong!!
I'd meet him in the heart of Saturday Night any day ;)
I'm so thankful I got to see him live. SO AWESOME!!!
Probably one of the greatest albums ever produced ❤
This would definitely be a desert island album. It NEVER gets old.

To the eyeball kid
She just goes clank and boom and steam
A halo, wings, horns and a tail
Shoveling coal inside my dreams
There are no laws
She's made of cream
She's such a scream
Qui bon tres bien, nails in cement
A Donnie gal from mortal clay
The plow is red
The well is full, inside
The dollhouse of her skull
A cheetah coat fills up with steam
She's such a scream
All crooked lines
Her fireplace
A milktrain so clean
Machine gun haste
You'll ride the only wall of shame
And drag that chain across the state
Her lips are red
She is the queen
She's such a scream...
Jammie .....
Probably the most Beefheart-ian Tom Waits ever got (along with "All Stripped Down") And that's saying something

UNBEATABLE.
Don van Vleit thought this was weird.
