    theoretically the additional castor in the alignment should increase steering effort. But will self center on its own

      Honestly I am not a suspension expert. I can just say that with the extra neg camber the car turns better. Maybe it's because of the slightly less contact patch with the road? I don't know.

    Ok you have done by Gms. Mine is by Scara73. Now the evaluation ok road in a scale of 1 to 10 is 6.5. Better but if you want to have evaluation 8 you have to change the suspension with Ohlins (top). For me level 10 of steering is Giulia QV as parameter. Very happy for you, now Yours 4C starts to be really good !!💪👍

    • @TheAllAmericanDriver
      @TheAllAmericanDriver  Рік тому +1

      Yeah I will probably have to go with a coil over system like the Ohlins if we want to go a lot faster. Sounds like your car is set up properly!

      @@TheAllAmericanDriverI went with Intrax 1K2…Not quite a pricey as Ohlins but still good quality, mosstly for road comfort and control with the occasional track day adjustability. Uniballs also really help to gain confidence in the rear. Happy motoring with your 4C. 7.5 years as an owner with not yet one mechanical problem. Totally faultless in 50,000km and several track days/nights. I’ve also 17/18” wheels. That helps with stability as the actually have a wider inside track than the 19” rear.

    As a long time 4C owner (bought my 2015 4C Launch Edition new)... all you had to do was do an alignment and set the front toe to 0.... and dump those crap PZero tires. Both are what emphasizes any tramming you might have. Mine is fine. Some like the Alfa Works or GMS blocks which add a bit more caster and versions to add more camber for on track. I don't have them and instead I replaced the rubber bushings in the rear lower triangles with Uniballs from GMS or Alfa Works. Stock bushings tend to flex under hard cornering at speed and it changes the camber in the rear rather than keeping it at one setting. This gives an unplanted feel to the car. Alfa designed the 4C for sharp slower corners so it is great for that but if you want a highway freeway cruiser it isn't setup that way... that is when you might like the blocks. No power steering manual rack with wide low profile tires will cause some tramming on any car. Power steering acts as a damper so besides less effort at very low speed, it also removes road feedback. If you have ever driven any manual steering car you would see what I am talking about and that was before you add in the fat low profile tires. I raced in SCCA and the way the 4C is setup is close to ideal from a performance standpoint although like any car it can be improved.... I have never had any car that couldn't gain from some well done tweaks. But be careful it is easy to make a track specific car that is absolutely the worst car on the street you could imagine. With some tweaks the 4C is a fabulous car that is very reliable and bullet proof. Finally.... the best advice comes from the ALFA 4C Forum on line. I am one of the super moderators there.

    After owning, dailying, tracking few 4c's if I ever end up with another I will definitely opt to have power steering fitted. With warm sticky tire track driving becomes arm workout and it doesn't inspire the confidence of a light weight car.

  • @deviklovecraft3835

    I’m praying this works. I’m having the blocks and and alignment done next week. The front end is so wayward now that I have no confidence driving it in a spirited manner.

    Jason just saw your feedback. I always wanted to try this out from GMS. How much lighter does it make the steering wheel if for instance we say from 1-10, the weight was at a 9. Great video as usual from you!

    • @TheAllAmericanDriver
      @TheAllAmericanDriver  Рік тому

      Thanks for the kind feedback. I've probably got 70 miles on the car since this video. On your scale, if the car was a 9, I would say.... 7.5? I am running a wider, stickier tire, so that makes a difference, and obviously with no power steering it's not going to be effortless, but it is noticeable. I'll have more real world feedback in a few days once I get this thing on track, lap times won't lie.

    I was planning on getting a C6 or C7 Corvette but I love the 4C and I think I want one instead of a Vette, however I was wondering about installing a single din unit in a 4C if it can even be done

    • @TheAllAmericanDriver
      @TheAllAmericanDriver  6 місяців тому +1

      I’m sure it can be done. Lots of aftermarket radio options for the 4C. A lot of people use the joying unit.
      Big difference between the Vette and the 4C. What’s your purpose with the car? Track? Daily? Weekend car? Road trip?

    How much mm shims did you use and at what position, to get go these alignment values? Or solely blocks? Reason for aksing: i want to end up with less caster and also camber 1,5° would be sufficient for me. Thanks!

    • @TheAllAmericanDriver
      @TheAllAmericanDriver  11 місяців тому

      We used blocks and shims. I can remember exactly, but it wasn’t even, IE we used 2 shims on passenger side and 4 shims on drivers side, something like that. The factory shims were also uneven side to side.

    • @TheAllAmericanDriver
      @TheAllAmericanDriver  11 місяців тому

      You just have to take the car with the shims to your alignment guy. I honestly can’t believe a lot of people put the blocks on and call it a day without getting it aligned, blows my mind.

    The 4c looks like a great car. How do you like it on track? I see you’re at the FIRM somewhat frequently, I’ll be out there on Oct 1st with Drive Florida, are you planning an outing soon?

      I really enjoy it on track, it's super light and the feedback from the steering is amazing. It's not the fastest, and it doesn't have the top end of some high HP cars, but it's a lot of fun. I know for sure I'll try to attend the cars and canards event in December.

    okay so before watching the video I'm guessed that you were going to point some obscure flaw and I was going to bet "Ohey maybe its the lack of a goddamn gas strut for the rear engine / trunk cover."
    I mean really, they sell gas struts you can fit for your trunk. Its like half a pound, so screw you Alfa for using "light weighting" as an excuse for not having gas strut trunks!

    What is camber? If you don't like power steering,....you should have driven the '68 Ford truck we had; instead of your "chameleon " painted hot rod with the nitrous! 🥰

    • @TheAllAmericanDriver
      @TheAllAmericanDriver  11 місяців тому

      Camber is the angle of the wheel and tire. When talking about negative camber, this basically means the top of the wheel is slightly leaning in towards the center of the car.
