Set Yourself On Fire well that was all in the past, but now we have to use the Present Tense when speaking about Radiohead status in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

While I get what you're saying how on Earth did it take two ballots for them to induct Radiohead for gods sake? If there's any band of the past 25 years that deserves to be in on their first ballot it's friggin' Radiohead
Because they are not popular in America. The Cure were massively popular and it still took them a decade and a half. But I guess Janet Jackson and Stevie Nicks are more important to rock history than Pixies, Sonic Youth, The Smiths, Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Flaming Lips, Television, Pavement, Tool, Talk Talk, Slint or Nine Inch Nails.
Waiting for Nickelback, Creed, Cool Cat & Derek Savage, Limp Bizkit, RiceGum, Papa Roach, Hanson, Milli Vanilli, the DC3, Michael Bolton, Imagine Dragons, Baha Men, 5ive, Greta Van Fleet, Skillet, the Jonas Brothers, Sonseed, Crazy Frog, MattyBRaps, the Wiggles, the Doodle Bops, and Cal Chuchesta to be inducted now!
The Cure is probably the most shocking one here. They haven't been inducted yet? I'm a much bigger fan of Radiohead, but The Cure really should have been there ages ago...
Since the HoF has a rule that the inductees first year of eligibility is the release of its first studio album, we only have to wait till 2043 till 6ix9ine gets inducted boys.
You do know that artists only become eligible for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after their first release, right? This is the second year Radiohead has been nominated, their first release (Creep) was released in 1992. Not that the RnR HoF is that important or anything to care about but you should do your homework next time...
Isn't it 25 years after their debut album? Considering Radiohead's first release was before Creep but they were first eligible in 2018, it would make sense to be based on albums rather than songs or EPs
It's based on their first release. Anthony should at least read the Wikipedia page. Rage Against The Machine also debuted in 92, making this the 2nd time they were eligible. The Cure, on the other hand, had to wait 14 years or so.
@David Clinging Their website states it's "25 years after the release of their first commercial recording", so I think singles count too. Maybe it used to be only albums and they change it.
Radiohead, the most important group of musicians of the past 23 years. Also: Radiohead have only been eligible for the past two years. It takes time melon

The video just removed that whole part and focused on Anthony going off. It was hot garbage
In general, I do not care about the Rock Hall. However, the inductions of Radiohead and the Cure might signify a start to the boomers’ weakening clutch on the Hall. I suppose this “classic rock” narrative will inevitably fade with time, but that time seems to already be approaching. This makes me wonder how the Rock Hall will treat alternative acts like Sufjan Stevens, Animal Collective, etc. (if it still exists as a breathing institution). Yes, they have had critical acclaim and influence, but not on the mainstream level, and the Rock Hall currently seems to favor those who have had some popularity in the US.
Yes! I mean, I watched this video because Radiohead (and Thom Yorke) are my favorite band/artist. But I'm so happy to see the Zombies getting some love here. Odyssey and Oracle is fantastic. I saw them live a couple years ago and Colin's still got nice pipes.

Don’t look past Def Leppard, Hysteria was a mega success of an album, had at the time the record for most hits singles on one album, and over all are a band who’s influence has bled into other genres like hip hop and pop. Long story short, it’s about fuckin time
When will Wilco get in. What about the fricken Replacements? Morrissey or the Smiths? I hate Radiohead. To not have Todd in just shows how screwed up .. what the heck the music of today mostly sucks so how could they ever like good music. All of those crappy singers and music industry creeps know nothing about good music. Surprised they put great Neil Young or the Beatles in at all? In the 80s they put in lots of black singers .. who cares about roots, I care about the great music rock brought in.
Look I just don't like black music except from the 60s. I can't help what i DON'T like. Sometimes I hate background singers and whether they are black white or purple; I don't like. I don't Like Otis Redding at all. I don't like Aretha or Urethra. I like Smokey, Temptations and Mary Wells and the Early Impressions, Hendrix.
Of course that's right. I can't help who I like. Find me a black who loves the Replacements or Neil Young or other bands I like. I don't call them racists do i?
The fact that Janet Jackson was inducted before Todd Rundgren, Kraftwerk and Rage is an actual joke. The Hall is about commercial success and politics, not about true artistry.
@The Lonely Traveller It's outdated to say the least. When it was named, some genres weren't even started or were just starting. Namely rap, hip hop, punk, metal etc... The fact is because people aren't eligible for 25yrs there weren't many acts or genres available to choose from at the time. Since then the field has broadened, as it should given the scope of music the last 40yrs. It's also funny, that an artist like Janet gets this kind of BS slight all the time. Fact is, she's had chart success in 5 different genres, including a number one rock single. People that only see her as a pop star don't know what they're talking about
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame should probably conserve an artist's entire discography (or a selected amount of their best material). Kinda like the National Film Registry does with movies. I think there's already one for music but It mosty conserves extremely old music and only one album/single at a time. It also rarely touches any rock, one of the exceptions is Metallica's Master of Puppets.
I don't know.... I expected to see Radiohead inducted in, like, another 20+ years. There are older (and arguably more recognizable/mainstream) bands that have still not been inducted or that were only recently inducted in the past 5 or so years. Radiohead is beloved by fans and critics, sure, but they're not exactly a Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc. I honestly think it's all ridiculous. BUT, I do like that the Hall of Fame is an actual celebration of the music, and not just what's popular in the moment. (I mean, just look at the recent GRAMMY nominations.)
"Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, who knows what that is. I don’t give a shit. It’s irritating every year that suddenly my inbox lights up with, “Oh man, sorry about …” I don’t give a fuck! … the worst would be if we did [get inducted] and then what? We’d have to fuckin’ show up and jam? I can’t even imagine what that would be. I’m not saying this as sour grapes. I honestly couldn’t give less of a shit. I’m not gonna sleep any better. Included or not. With that being said, it’s always nice to feel you’ve been appreciated to some degree but it’s not on my list of things I have to achieve before I die." - Trent Reznor Be like Reznor.
There are 10k garage bands right now saying"Radiohead gets in,but not us"? And they are right.Quick--name a top selling song by Radiohead? They could have just called themselves"Generic Garage Band" but, that doesn't have the same ring as Radiohead. Remember Squirrel Nut Zippers?
Depeche Mode should have been inducted in 2006, when they first became eligible. Loooong overdue! (Mostly for their 80's and early 90's music.) Now that IS a snub! Very happy for Radiohead though. Love them!
With the way shit goes we might see artists like BROCKHAMPTON and Travi$ Scott in there before bands like Mr. Bungle or The Mars Volta. Shit I'd even take Death From Above... just fucking throw me a bone for shits sake..
Educate yourself please 5 bands in history with 2 diamond records Name then please! & I’m in my 30s & forgot more About music then you will ever know! Im the rare guy that loves new wave 80s & glam metal 80s You don’t have that capability! Def Leppard cure & all bands that made it are deserving But many more need to get in. You can put Motley Crue right there with deff lepp Not in from the 80s. But also Duran Duran & others You had to love on Pluto to not realize how big These bands were!
First let me say the RRHF is an f'in sham. So many bands being passed over every year. They have no appreciation of prog rock and very little for heavy metal. it is more about viewing audience and asses in expensive seats than innovation and trailblazing. You seem to be ignoring the 25 year career before inclusion. I think Rage has only been eligible for 2 years. Radiohead has only been eligible for 1. Jackson is a pretty major cross over artist she is more than pop. more important she is R&B which is the basis of R&R. Stevie Nicks does deserve acknowledgement, but not as a solo artist (IMO). I have always hated The Cure and Radiohead so I can't speak to that. Kraftwerk being passed on in favor of these 3 is part of the sham i am speaking of. I am not going to dispute Radiohead's contributions to popular music but over Kraftwerk? At this point the hall has ignored King Crimson, Jethro Tull, ELP, if they aren't rock enough where the hell is Dick Dale or Judas Priest. So many more, too many to try and list here. The HoF is a nice idea and the building has some great artifacts but their validity slips every year with these weak nominee lists, and poor choices. 'nuff said
You understand that artists are only eligible to be inducted into the RnR HOF 25 years after their debut album. Pablo Honey debuted in Nov 1992, this is only Radiohead's "3rd chance" or perhaps 2nd depending on the exact cutoff date. The voters made an usually good choice in that department. The Cure is definitely overdue though and Kraftwerk and the MC5 have to be in there considering their influence - but no. Gotta get The Zombies while there are still a Boomer votes. *rolleyes*

Mud Flaps You waited in the blistering cold comments and he just said "no"?
Don’t look past Def Leppard, Hysteria was a mega success of an album, had at the time the record for most hits singles on one album, and over all are a band who’s influence has bled into other genres like hip hop and pop. Long story short, it’s about fuckin time
Surely Swans should be inducted as well, right? Their music is too influential and aesthetically important to not be. Also the New York Dolls.
Just wait till Anthony’s 80 and he has to react to imagine dragons or nickelback gets inducted
Why do I watch these videos, I'm stopping for good. You have enough money already
You are a fricken racist!
So you like the blacks when they were down and without BLM around?
Exactly. And let me understand you, you don't like blacks voices, hip hop or rap .. it's nothing to do with black people per se.
Of course that's right. I can't help who I like. Find me a black who loves the Replacements or Neil Young or other bands I like. I don't call them racists do i?
Is adele in the pop soul hall of fame ?
The fact that Janet Jackson was inducted before Todd Rundgren, Kraftwerk and Rage is an actual joke. The Hall is about commercial success and politics, not about true artistry.
Ignorant statement. Just because she's not a rock act doesn't mean she's not a true artist.
@@001spring no.
Velvet Rope is an amazing album
@@001spring just because shes not a rock artist doesn't mean she shouldn't beat great rock bands our in a hall of fame for rock bands
In Melons
I love how my two favorite bands (The Cure and Radiohead) were inducted the same year.
The fact that Jimi Hendrix isn’t even inducted proves that the hall of fame should get nukd
Still no Alice in Chains
Or Soundgarden
"Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, who knows what that is. I don’t give a shit. It’s irritating every year that suddenly my inbox lights up with, “Oh man, sorry about …” I don’t give a fuck! … the worst would be if we did [get inducted] and then what? We’d have to fuckin’ show up and jam? I can’t even imagine what that would be. I’m not saying this as sour grapes. I honestly couldn’t give less of a shit. I’m not gonna sleep any better. Included or not. With that being said, it’s always nice to feel you’ve been appreciated to some degree but it’s not on my list of things I have to achieve before I die." - Trent Reznor
Be like Reznor.
Educate yourself please
5 bands in history with 2 diamond records
Name then please!
& I’m in my 30s & forgot more
About music then you will ever know!
Im the rare guy that loves new wave 80s & glam metal 80s
You don’t have that capability!
Def Leppard cure & all bands that made it are deserving
But many more need to get in.
You can put Motley Crue right there with deff lepp
Not in from the 80s. But also Duran Duran & others
You had to love on Pluto to not realize how big
These bands were!
*rolleyes*
I'm disappointed Jeff Buckley isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
