    I've used Mix:Analog a few times and I really liked it, BUT it was only useful to me on the mastering phase, which I rarely would do myself. I've always wanted something that could be inserted into the mix I'm working on, either on individual channels or on busses that I can mix through - I like this idea a lot

    I saw the demonstration at Namm. Its the real deal. The technology behind this is real interesting. I believe they were going to start selling or renting the technology to other studios so they can start renting their equipment out as opposed to sessions. Would be cool to access the equipment say at Abbey Road. Technology is moving us Onward and Upward...

    QUESTION - Do the devices (that are in a standard music studio eg. the Analog EQ or Compressors) have only manual ways to change the settings - or is there a way to control them electronically - eg USB connection to computer? Is that what you mean by robotics or relays they are using to change the settings?

    Looks cool for home mixing. Say you’re song is pretty much 90% mixed. Then you want to use the fusion or SSL comp. Cheaper to spend $6 to set the SSL real quick on the master and bounce. My limit on new analog gear is usually around $1,200 or so most the time. Unless my investments are doing good…no way I’m affording an SSL G compressor of Fusion! I could probably afford to get a Distressor though, and try it here.I bought most my expensive gear when I recorded people. Now I just make music for fun 🤷🏻‍♂️

    ... just checked their Instagram: You'll find movies showing their robotics in action there. How is latency handled / which delay you'll have to expect? When you turned knobs, I realized reaction is delayed substantially - while this should work fine for static settings, I imagine it could be difficult to ride parameters that way?

    • @jorgepeterbarton
      @jorgepeterbarton 4 роки тому

      true, and you'd expect that really with the interface. Question is, is if you have analogue gear that needs dialing it, could it sound work because you simply can't dial in an EQ as good as an immediate plugin?

Would have loved to have heard the air dial boosted also, but you didn't try it, just switched it on and off. This is why reading the manual is non-negotiable. There's no way to mix in context with either service, right? Good mixers don't solo things constantly and go from one to the next.

Like cheap mastering where you pay someone and they run it through Landr but charge you for their expertise. Some way I could improve a little bit was passing the output sound of my Focusrite Pro 40 thru an analog mixer like Mackie 32/8 which has a great headroom and capture the analog sound from another computer/interface and apply some plugins. Apparently, the THIN problem happens when DAW mixes down to 2 channels and lose harmonics. Any ideas or plugins, compressors, exciters, any tips ? Thank you.*

      jmoney 0d It does not react like hardware. You can hear the harmonics is kind of static, less musical than the hardware, sounds plastic.

      @WorstViktorEU 4 роки тому

      @@razzerraw1108 Depends on which one of the plugins, not all of them are nice. Their Nebula plugin is on sale right now. Bought it with some Tim Petherick libraries. Amazingly close to real hardware but not so nice in terms of workflow in comparison to "normal" plugins. Also, all Acustica stuff is heavy on the CPU.

    It takes me so long and so much trial and error to tweak all my stuff that there's no way I could be expected to do it between the hours of 11am and whatever. I need whatever I use to be available 24/7 and I would hate to pay extra every time I need it.

      As I understand it, you don't HAVE to reserve it, but if you need a specific piece of gear a reservation ensures that it's available.

    I’m really curious about the technicalities of this. The audio has to be sent over a network (potentially not ideal), then the control data must also be sent and then the computer on their end must then control an arduino type of thing to control the servos. There is a lot of things in the chain that could potentially fail or not respond within a reasonable time frame in regards to latency. This can only work with a very good network connection otherwise it’s a show stopper. What if the network is congested or the control system can’t process the inputs fast enough? It’s got to be very sensitive to latency issues. It’s a cool idea but I see many bears on the road for practical, demanding uses.
