I've gotta disagree. The ride quality is amazing even with 20 inch wheels and standard run flats. Sure, if you hit moon crater pot holes you'll hear a bassy thumping sound(like most cars), but it's far from "too stiff". It's comfortable enough for a baby to sleep soundly in even on these rougher NY/NJ roads, while also being stiff enough to handle extremely well in comfort mode. This car is extremely enjoyable and smooth!
Please test drive a gv70 3.5.
@@Thomas-Tsai-NYC I did and thought it was disintegrated feeling in terms of all the inputs.
@@Thomas-Tsai-NYC That's a land yacht in comparison.
Great review and I agree with you...I have a 2022 AMG GLC it's obviously a sports car and my wife says "It's smooth " and she would know...People it's a SPORTS CAR!
The dual chamber suspension is key here. In any suspension mode, if you say, hit a sharp small speed bump going slow…it will feel quite stif and firm….but if you hit the same speed bump with a little more speed, the computer lets you travel the magic carpet and it soaks up that speed bump like it’s not there. I puckered coming over a rise at speed and saw an unexpected railroad crossing….I clinched my butt and my teeth and expected to loose a couple….but instead of the hard hit I expected it thwapped over it and soaked up the hit. It was incredible. So while it is either fairly firm to very firm spending on suspension setting, the big hit’s are always soaked up. I’ve never had a vehicle that did that. It’s incredible.
I had a 2018 glc 43 went to a 2020 gle 450 and 8 months later I was back in a 2020 glc43. Great daily for the kids or by yourself.
The best looking model of the Mercedes SUV line-up IMO.
I recently ordered a base 2021 model in Graphite grey and the 20" wheels seen in the video.
"Ah May Gahd!!" Love it.
It’s been a while to see a video and get so excited about this car, I have owned over 50 luxury cars in the past 20 years. WOW love your excitement about this one
Thank you both! Great Video!
Paul looked like a kid at Christmas when he was driving!
Nice video. Really enjoyed it. 👌
I would like to point out that I was looking for performance first. Came from a C400 and my back couldn’t hang with the sport suspension. This car is the solution. I find it to be much more comfortable then the c43.
The GLC 63s is insane. I nearly pulled the trigger on one a few years ago. The 43 is plenty enough power for an SUV this small.
Tested a 2017 C43, very impressed, the AMG bits make a big difference. Totally agree with the AMG Performance exhaust. Cannot work out which looks better the sedan or coupe.
That GT grille is going everywhere.
Is redshirt just trying to be contrarian for fun? You cannot guess at why an AMG 43 buyer buys one, then use that as a straw man for why they will feel sorry they would. The Macan is fantastic but it’s small. If it’s a car for 2, buy the Macan. For 4, buy the GLC. It drives like a car. The suspension takes BIG hits and smooths them out but rides very firm over everything else. When you buy AMG you know what you are getting. The difference between comfort and sport+ is bigger on this vehicle than most any vehicle out there wit fixed spring rates and adaptive dampers. The fact that it EATS surprise big hits then returns it taught firm suspension is incredible. But people don’t seem to realize is does this.
People who dismiss these as not real AMG’s or as money grabbers are sadly mistaken. They are surprisingly coherent packages of gas powered fun. Sharp, fun, tight, loud performance exhaust. A total blast and they pull hard. EDIT: Indeed the engine isn’t hand built, neither is the price, but it feels just as special somehow. That’s what AMG does so well is make the vehicle feel like it’s from another manufacturer. It feels much closer to a “real” AMG than an X3 M40i feels to a real Msport. They do it better and while they have a similar 0-60 the AMG 43 feels faster. Don’t now why..but it does, probably the extra torque.
I pick up my new Blue GLC 43 premium plus night edition on Monday...so looking fwd to it as I’ve been waiting long enough.
15:58 what about that squeaking of interior omfg ???
Actually several F1 technologies trickle down to the engines in ways of improved energy efficiency, and materials. It's by design as this "trickle down" is how Mercedes justifies the F1 AMG team being allowed to use Mercedes R&D and not blow the budget limitations set by F1 regulations
I'm giving up my dreams of driving a sports car for my daily (Supra) and Want something more comfortable that still moves when I give it the beans. Going to drive this Benz today and hopefully it doesn't suck.
what year is that particular glc? need it
I’m getting this. Will be back to share my experience.
Sir.....go for BMW x3 M40i 2022 is the best, most fun, whenever you want it bring you power right away without any delay, back seats recline too comfortable on long trip, the price is OK, corner turn solid evry time I make a turn it seems my M40i knows I would then it controls that for me 🥴 wow love my m40i
I have experience with MB through my Wife's last year the GLK's were made but this was/probable my first AMG. My wife and I test drove a new 2019 AMG GLC 43 Coupe in Orlando, FL and we loved it for its AMG nature. We had an awesome Sales Agent, I was able to take the circular Highway On-Ramp at about 80 mph and the car was solid; it didn't feel like I was pushing the car's limit. Almost every vehicle behind us was doing about 25-30 mph and all of them in no time flat was non-existent in the rearview mirror, admittedly this was just plain fun! The 43 was amazing until I switched over to comfort mode, I was disappointed. Comfort mode was ok; I wanted it to be softer like what I know my Wife's GLK to be. The 43 Comfort was a Sport-Comfort, not a Comfort-Comfort. I found the Sport Comfort to be like a light race suspension - still up on its heels ready for you to throw something at it. I already have my work truck which is a 4-Runner and it's great but I get beat up when doing 1,500 - 2,000 miles a month. I'm looking for an MB vehicle for myself to incorporate in work travels on the days when I can leave the 4-Runner at the house but still need the space of an SUV for the tools. For MB, the GLC's tick all the right boxes. I had a great experience with the standard GLC for its plush ride but I really loved the GLC 43 for the animal it could/can be like in the same way Paul loved it for. Despite both vehicles, I don't have a lot of faith in the reliability of the standard GLC as there's a lot of used GLC's for sale around my area. My gut feeling is the GLC 43 despite the stiffer suspension is the better-made vehicle and the one (2018 - 2020) I'll probably end up going with sometime this summer. Thanks to both of you for helping me to relive my GLC 43 experience. It was awesome. If all goes to plan, I'm looking forward to taking ownership of one soon enough.
I have the 2017 GLC43 suv now with 68k miles. It’s faster to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and in comfort mode at 65 mph, I achieved 502 miles to a full tank with 31mpg!! It’s faster than the 2018 and 2020 model.
@@topo520 That gas mileage is insane. Okay, 2017 is now a consideration which is good as this will help my budget. Regardless of year, I would prefer to not pass $52K. When did you buy it and how's it been treating you? Did you buy new or used?
Seth Parr I bought it may 2017! It was a floor demo and it has been awesome. The only thing I don’t like is it comes with 21 inch tires and I have gone through 3 sets of tires! Rear brakes 2 sets and front brakes 2 sets as well. I am a bad driver and drive it very hard. Daily. It was last week that I decided to fill it up with gas and drove 65 miles per hour until empty tank. 80% highway and 20% city. If it was 100% highway, I should be looking at 600 miles to full tank!
Engine and transmission very solid!! To achieve 500 miles to full tank, you must drive in Eco mode and never drive aggressive.
Also picked up a GLC 43 from Orlando and had an awesome sales agent named Robert. Fantastic car and great buying experience.
1:08 lmao
in her 20s in the 80s my mom daily'd a biturbo and LOVED it
it was men-in-black, red-button-type speed on us hwys in the 80s
(she did happen to live in dc and for maintenance got to take it to the dude who trained all the maserati techs in the continent so it ran gr8..)
6:27 yess paul; its a gr8 thing
this is like,, the whole point of amg/m/sti/n/etc
the hilarity of the "family car"-looking object..
making motorsport noises :3
and having decent- to good/gr8 driving dynamics :3
10:40 yesss paul - fxx bmws had big design issues - mostly sorted on the gxx cars we've seen so far imo
Paul, what is it about a good 6 cylinder that just feels so right?
Totally agree with you guys on the comfort mode critique. Otherwise amazing car.
Just got my 2021 GLC 43 Coupe, we LOVE it!!!
The coupe looks way better than this FYI
Looks a bit like a Tesla microwave in the back so went none coupe
I've been trying to decide between the AMG and the regular 300.... this had me ping ponging back and forth the entire time! LOL
I've had both. I'd pick the GLC 43 over the 300 because I like the pick-up-and-go plus the external styling. The 300 drives a bit more softly. The GLC 43 feels downright sporty. I wouldn't say that the GLC 43 feels harsh, I'd call it somewhat sporty. The AMG models also come with more options out of the box. I couldn't even find a non-AMG model with the options that I wanted.
What about a bachelor?
The MB of this vehicle looks like a top of the line compact suv. The BMW of this looks like a top of the line performance compact SUV.
3:41 merc's have the absolute best border btwn trunk floor and car exterior
that metal thing w the smooth, raised, longitudinal, bump-lines on it is just
amazing
at this point it must be a patent war or smthn idk y no one else comes close..
cant shake that the almost-black leather (esp the perforated on the wheel)..
w the red stitching..
i just keep seeing sti..
Is the internal engine pistons forged factory?
I am not attracted to SUVs, however I did get a (used) GLA 45 AMG for half the price of this GLC 43.I hope I made the right choice.
Great little vehicle. Very fast. I hope you have been enjoying it.
Have to say as a long time fan and follower of you guys, the test drive UA-cam channel is to me, everything that makes you guys great, condensed. I love the pacing, the length format and the extended commentary. I love your tv content, but I feel it limits you considerably in format to need to break for commercials and fit into a given time. This just flows. Also, I love the continued “seat swap” shots that have persisted from the supras video! Also, love how jacked up Paul got on this. Would love to see you guys feature a Stelvio TI Sport. I think you’d both like it and am curious to get your thoughts on it! And Giulia TI with paddles for what it’s worth.
I own a 2018 base with 20" wheels and run flats. I can't stand the ride quality of run flat tires. I think they really let it down. I will replace them with regular tires as they wear out.
Personally I like the Macan's outside styling better than the AMG. Thanks for the review. 🙂
If you’re a woman, I guess.
Have you guys driven the Macan GTS ? Or just the S and Turbo. GTS is the sweet spot.
love to see you guys review the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio!
My whip! I honestly can’t see myself in another model.
14:00 - 14:20 - ..
this is kind of what im thinking abt when i say the M and AMG cars dont rly feel like hot versions of the lux cars anymore;
they feel like nearly-lux-looking-not-necessarily-feeling versions of track toys..
think this shift rly started in the 2010s but we r pretty far into this trend now
ring times arms races kill daily comfort in the M and AMG cars :((
this is y i love my 00s m6
hits that sweet spot of 21st century crumple zones and airbags and whatnot
but b4 M and AMG went super hardcore on their cars
super comfy
pretty sporty
special motor
retractable rear glass :3
i guess i'd be looking more at like m240 instead of m2 mkt if i was shopping new.. does AMG do smthn equivalent to that ? where u get the lux suspension but a hot motor ?
Thank You for this video! Tossed between a Macan S, this, and a BMW X4 M40i and this video helped sway me towards the Macan 😊
I have the new GLC 43 AMG SUV. Very very good Car . 👍👍
You two are hilarious!
Great review.
My daughter has the GLC 300 which impressed me but I want more power.
This video fulfilled the “NEED” that is not necessary…more lusted after!🤣
Glad you found this and enjoyed it. Thank you for watching!
That sounds quite good for a V6... how much of that is speaker sound?
none, mercedes/amg doesn't like that crap
Is Paul's cheap sports car nearly here?
Iv had 3 amgs , 2 a45 and a w205 c63s coupe they are all firm even in comfort and thats how it should be if i want a tame comfortable car i simply would not get an amg🤷🏻
I like this Benz truck the PanAemrica or what ever it’s called works on this
A 43 over a Macan … Turbo or GTS? Really?
Todd has been spoiled by the Phaeton.
I do not like the Macon interior at all. Looks very 911ish. Buttons all over the place. Mercedes is classy.. and flows better... imo.
The Mercedes service is what turned me off to this suv. I ended up getting a ‘17 infinity qx50
That wheels are beautifull 20"
Dad had a 2017 GLC 43. It rattled itself apart.
had the glc 300 and engine blew before 20,000 lol
@@GetDaBurnercylinder 1?
@@GetDaBurnerthe AMG version is worth it just for the VERY reliable V6.
too little for me i went for the gle
*Thats more of a station wagon than a "family suv"*
Oh God I hate that instrument cluster... Mercedes, just give us real dials with the needle pivots mounted in the middle of them.
The base model cluster is analogue gauges, thats what I ordered on my 2021.
It’s an option…
The plastic creaking...
Over macan? No way
Gotta say, never seen a video with so much blathering and so little information. So does this have a heads up display? They look like they do wtih that dip in the dash ahead of the steering column, but nobody mentions this in their "review" videos. Don't quit your day jobs....
We understand that someone may be looking for specific feature information about a car when they click on a review (A head up display seems to be vital for you) But we know that most stats and spec information is easily available with an online search. Our approach has always been to describe the experience of being in a car and how it is to drive and interact with. We want people to enjoy the cars they own and drive, and we've been doing videos about it full time for more than 15 years. Thanks for watching!
No matter what review that bald guy always gets " my Macan" in there.
? - Not sure what you heard. Neither of our guys said this or own a Macan. It was brought up in comparison, but no one related to our channel owns one.
@@TestDriveVideos my wife's Macan? 5:19
I still prefer the bmw x3m over this.
this doesnt compete with the M it competes with the M40i
Odd because this SUV outperforms the X3M?
Ya the X3M competes with the GLC 63s. But the GLC AMG 43 absolutely feels more special and far more like a real AMG than the M40i and it’s full M counterpart.
You must like mechanics and spending money for repairs.
Made in Germany baby
Red shirt guy could leave and no one will notice. Enough with what you're driving no one cares.
hey im getting that car from 2017 , and i wanted to something sporty for myself but i need to buy something for family (i need car where i can put 3 dogs and kid) and because of my budget i bought this , its compromise between family car and sport car , and by the way(IMO) porsche SUV are overrated and ugly as hell,. and few test discovered that GLC 43 is better than macan in many ways :))
Nsx trickle down......kick your buddy out 🙄 hard to believe he reviews vehicles with his comments
👍👍👍👍
Red Shirt...Doesn't have clue about the heritage of this car...and what "AMG" means...AMG GLC 43...Get 1!!!

말이많아 그냥 타면되지
Paul.. porsche is the better choice.
Gotta admit, not a big fan of the crackling farting sound.
GLC is trash…. It’s loud, uncomfortable, and small. 👎🏻
No Powerful Suv is Comfort. Buy bouncy rough handling Lexus or Chevy impala if you want Comfort.
