Hi Jess! I’m really enjoying the “ little” books tutorial! They are truly adorable! Two tips I will share with you. One is from Pat Roberts and she said if we bake our urethane varnished items... after they dry thoroughly, in a 225 degrees F oven, it will harden the varnish to almost a resin quality. I’ve done this with pendants and it really works fantastically well. Secondly, some of the bead stringing tutorials mention beading wax or nail polish or even a bit of hair gel will stiffen the ends of our cords or string for bead stringing so that we can pass it through the hole better. Hope that helps. Luv your tutorials! 🥰😉👍
Hi, I’m new to this and really like charms. I see a lot of charm pendants rings, with little treasures attached and love the way they look. I would love to see more charm tutorials! They are manageable projects that I can do in an afternoon. It’s a snow day for me, and this is how I get to spend it. Thank you!
HI Samantha. I'm somewhat of a beginner with a goal to sculpt. I love making beads but don't think I'll have a lot of uses for them. More tutorials of everyday objects and gifts would be great. Thanks for sharing your unlimited talent with us. YOU'RE the BEST!
This is one of the best "genuine" looking book tutorials I have seen, Samantha, and you posted this just when I was wondering what to make for my book-looking sister-in-law for Christmas. Especially love the mica powder, gives it a little authentic punch, and all of these really do remind me of some of the old books in my own father's library. Thanks so much for showing us these "charming" techniques; I can tell a lot of hard work went into this (as usual)!
So glad you like it. I thought it would be a nice project for this time of year. It's also a little new to me as I don't send to make charms. Would you be interested if I did more charm tutorials? Trying to decide what types of tutorials I should do.
Well done! It looked like you really enjoyed making these. I think I would have forgotten to keep talking. Then you said you're not used to working this small. You have a nice, light touch. Every time you did the next embellishment, I thought "Ooo, I LIKE that!" Just enough explanation, and I appreciated the texture ideas. Obvious, but I hadn't thought of them.
I've been using my gross scrap clay for the interiors and edging them with gold so they look like fancy books. Great way to use up the stuff I've made muddied.
I loved this tutorial and the adorable but realistic end result. I will have a lot of fun making these. If you want to do more simple and "charm"ing tutorials, I will enjoy them greatly. As a beginner I don't have a huge stash of supplies to attempt the more difficult projects yet. Thanks Samantha!
These are so great & so cute! And I really love & appreciate how you showed us how you made all 4 books. You could have made one on camera & then cut away to make the rest then just quickly showed them to us, so I'm very glad you taught us how to make all of them. Thank you!
I really like these charms. It would be really nice if a title could be stamped on them. I’d love one with Hamlet or the Bible. I love your details, or embellishments, and was so happy when you made the ”pages” with your razor. I think my youngest granddaughter will love these! I wonder if a very small picture could fit on the cover. Can you imagine your Kit Kat on one? Or a little turtle or fish?
I think you could put a picture on. You'd need to make them slightly larger and then you could use an image transfer to transfer a small image onto them. :D
I have just begun working with clay and I am enjoying your videos! I was a librarian when I was younger and I love books, so this video is one of my very favorites. Thank you for all of the inspiration that I have received from you. I have also joined as a patron and am watching tons of beautiful objects being created by you. 💖😊
Absolutely my favorite (each is my favorite when I watch another) and I'm going to make for gifts for my daughter and grandson, who love books! Great idea, thanks for sharing this one.
Samantha w soft cords I use a little super glue on the end a tiny bit will stiffen it up and keep it from fraying and make it easier to push through things
I love making book charms. But I never added the extra bits and texture before. Cant wait to make these. I also like how you hang them. Great job and thanks for sharing.
If you press a bit of your cord through some beeswax before trimming it it will hold its point better and be slightly stiffer passing through narrow spaces and also be slightly lubricated for its pass. I use this hand sewing trick in many other craft applications. You can leave the little waxed bit and attach the findings normally or trim it off after threading it through your beads, charms or other things.
OK I just have to say this... every day in my feed I get an update of something you have done and I have to ask myself, is there anything polymer clay related that this girl could not do lol. Your work is amazing, literally, and you make it look so simple and your ideas are just gorgeous and original. You have a gift! I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your incredible talent
I absolutely LOVE these little charms. Fun to make, and lovely for so many applications. A lot of new techniques in this one, in the decorating, antiquing and finishing. Fantastic. Thank you! May I ask how long you would keep the heat gun on the charms, and how much longer they need to bake or cure, afterwards?
Samantha these are great!!! How do you come up with all these ideas? I saw the videos of your studio... you have so much cool stuff. You said your family beads together? Is that how you started, from your mom?
I'm not sure how I come up with the ideas. It just comes to me. I started beading when I was just five and my sisters soon followed. Most of the family now do it, but I'm the one who started it. :D
Do you mean how I got started or how you'd get started as in a coarse. :D Here's a link to how I got started with polymer clay. www.jessamatutorials.com/about-jessama-tutorials.html And here's a link to a getting started with polymer clay playlist I've set up. ua-cam.com/video/Ln35fzjYVkQ/v-deo.html
I want to make these with my 9 year-old granddaughter. She loves working with clay. We made food, cakes, cookies, hamburgers & hotdogs. She took them to school and they went over really big. One girl said, “I will trade you a cookie and you can squish my slime.” By the end of the day, she traded them all for other goodies.
These are just adorable, Samantha! I, too, really appreciate all the detail you went into to show us all four variations. I think using a tracing wheel/stitch marking tool for sewing might be an even easier way to get a straight line of evenly spaced “stitching” on these wonderful book charms.

I'm absolutely loving that you're doing something different with your tutorials Samantha! Love this one so cute!!!
Absolutely brilliant tutorial as a beginner this is so doable thank you for such detailed explanations of the process😊
Can't wait to make some. Just need to find some flat embellishments. Thanks, Samantha, for the tutorial.

What a delightful item and tutorial. I had to give it a try. With your instructions, it was really that easy. They came out great!
These are so adorable! Love the way you embellished them!

These are so cute. Thanks for sharing! I also love that you showed us all the steps for all the books. Very helpful!
Thank you. I was worried the video would get too long showing all the steps so it's great to hear that that was helpful. :D

Samantha these are too cool! I may try this with the Fimo leather effects clay. 😉

I'd use the heat gun for about a minute and then will bake for another hour in the oven.
Love this

I sell them here. www.etsy.com/au/listing/666790868
These are really cute what a great idea.
Amazing detail 😍 Are these too big for earrings?
Probably, but you could down size them?

super sehr schön danke
But MANY books, old and newer leather bound ones DO have a rich gold gilding on the edges of the pages, top, bottom and longer side.
Wat kind of varnishes u use these brands name ? Love all ur wrk
I use varathane or pearl-ex for gloss varnishes.
Hello Samantha, can you give me the name of the end claps you use , I couldn't fin them on the web site of Fire M and G. thank you
They're called bead tips on Fire M & G. Here's a link. www.firemountaingems.com/shop/bead_tips
Nice
So Cute

Jessama Tutorials I was also just thinking it might be fun to try a few with Sculpey Soufflé covers for a suede look. :)
Oh yes. That's a great idea. It would look so sweet. You could use premo for the pages and souffle for the covers it would look great.
@@JessamaTutorials Exactly what I was thinking! (Great minds, lol!)
Samantha I love, love, love your videos, but each time you scrape OMG, sets my teeth on edge. 😅.
If I had that kind of thundering and lightning, I would be under the bed with my puppy. We're both terrified of storms.
😍😍😍😍😍😍
👍💖
Surprise! I do better work with my tiny stuff. You have no problem with either. Nice job!
