Hello sir engineering has a video clip from others and are in the process of providing dealers with a repair bulletin . They have a replacement Timing guide(s) that corrects this noise.
Sounds more serious to me. Like rid bearing or wrist pin. Please comment with your thoughts
UPDATE…
Just got back from dealership. Just as I thought, timing chain guides did not fix. Mechanics all agree low engine knock sounds like rod bearing! They are getting Mercedes involved. UGH!!
I’m AMG product expert, sounds like the first 1500 miles were not followed to a T (not blaming you just from my experience when I hear this tick)
Few questions are, have you been letting the engine fully warm up before getting on it? These engines (very rarely) will have issues within the first 3k miles when proper break in period isn’t followed.
I can tell by the head lights you have a 2024, I haven’t heard of issues with these yet, please keep us posted.

I agree with you, this sounds pretty bad from my previous experiences with AMG engines. I’d definitely baby her for the time being.
Thank you for your reply. I bot it certified with 850 miles on it. So, I can’t speak for the previous owner, I did baby it until the posted 1000 mile break in.
One more bit of info…. The knock is the worst on a cold start after the idle comes down. As it gets warm, it slowly gets less prominent to the point that, after you drive it, it’s barely audible.
Going in for service next week (May 24th) to get the timing chain guides replaced. This is what the engineers think the noise is.
Still don’t have the whip back from dealer yet. Been there for 5 days and won’t get it back for at least a few more. Heading there to check out the situation this afternoon. Not sure if this was the best idea to let them tear apart the whole front of the motor on brand new amg without knowing if that will even fix it.
