    Never really wanted to leave Goodison Park. But, our stadium being right at the Royal Blue Mersey is going to be amazing. Obviously Liverpool has always been known for its seafaring traditions, being at the Mersey just adds that little bit extra.

    Can't wait to see the ground with every seat in place (will there be name highlights on the seats like EFC or Everton picked out with white seating?

    Speaking as a Red, I have to admit that this new stadium looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to go there for a game. My first ‘proper’ match was Everton v Chelsea (3-0) in January 1971, so I have a very soft spot for Goodison, but all things must change. Will the stands have names, or just be compass points?

      You have as much right as anyone has to voice your opinion.
      You don't have to be a local, nor an expert on either the club, or the stadium construction.
      In fact, I would rather hear from interested observers worldwide.
      David seems to know everything, and is seldom even queried, but I find his input somewhat overbearing.
      You are not alone sir.

      Alan, I'm very aware that my intentions of keeping everyone as well informed as possible is not to everyone's taste but it seems to be appreciated by the majority. In the black and white of text it won't always be possible to convey the right tone nor in such a way that it will always be seen in a positive light. I get that and very occasionally someone has told me where their line in the sand lies, which is absolutely fine and justified.
      It's part of the reason for rejecting invitations to appear on videos or setting up my own channel. I don't think it would be warranted or received well. You have interpreted my original statement of surprise as being some sort of attack on you, despite my trying to point out it was not that but just a genuine surprising question. Despite my restating that and then giving you a full answer to the question, you have now done what I would never do, which is to out in public your opinion and assessment of me, my supposed fabricated intentions or loathsome character. That's quite some leap.
      However, for the record, I can assure you that I never set out to do anything else other than to search for all the information for my own benefit, to get the answers to my own questions. Having done so it was clear there was a huge vacuum between what I had learned and what others knew, so I took it upon myself to fill the gap for THEIR benefit. It has never been about some construed 'ego trip' that is implied.
      If the club had made the information more accessible and set up a PR team to keep people informed and to answer all questions none of my input would have been needed and I'd have lived a quieter life. But once you start on a road, you kind of have to keep on it and it doesn't work to half-cook a task.
      Again, for the record, I have absolutely no problem at all in anyone challenging any fact or opinion and indeed welcome any debate or discussion. I know I have not always got everything right, for whatever reason. No one is perfect and I know that very much includes me. But the difference is that I always review any shortfall and seek to improve on it.
      I know the people that know me well do not see me in the same light as you have seen fit to shout out about me publicly, without even addressing your opinions to me directly in the previous chain of communication between us.
      For both our benefits, I will stay clear of answering any of your comments or questions in future, so that there can be no further grounds for misinterpretation or miscommunication.
      I wish you well and that you enjoy your impending visit to Liverpool.

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 4 місяці тому +2

      @@pleasantville4529 I am sorry that you feel my input rubs you up the wrong way. For the record, I do NOT know everything, even if it's more than most who comment on these channels, due to comprehensive research and an element of knowledge and experience. I am aware that I have been wrong on occasion, which I have admitted to openly, which is not what you insinuate. Furthermore, I welcome being questioned or challenged as it makes sure that I check all the details. My intentions have always been solely to inform in the light of an EFC/'LoR vacuum.
      I suspect that I shall not change your opinion so for both our benefits I shall remove any future scope for your feeling this way by not responding to any of your comments. I wish you all the best.

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 4 місяці тому

      Alan, as stated previously, I always review myself to see how I can improve. I have decided on what I could have done better but I do feel slighted at the same time and I'd merely ask you to reflect on matters too. So, here is the analogy of the situation.
      A Visual Arts Teacher (VAT) is called on to teach Maths because there are no Maths Teachers available. The Teacher has told everyone he can't do Maths and has no ability or interest in the subject but he knows that there are some good-natured people, with public spirit and generosity, that are willing to volunteer to help some pupils with special one-on-one support. One of these volunteers, who through the nature of her past career and her self-employed business has moments where she has time to deliver a talk for the whole class but, most often, just one-on-one support. She does so merely because she wants to help pupils understand Maths and gives up this time and dedication, for free and freely, not as some sort of weird self-serving practice.
      So, one day this one volunteer, who supports EVERY Maths lesson that the VAT holds, hears a pupil say, "I keep asking what 2+2 is but no one ever answers me!". The volunteer supporter hears this and initially expresses complete surprise that a) this third-year pupil should need to ask the question and b) that no other fellow-pupil, any teacher or adult has given them a straightforward answer especially if the pupil maintains that he has asked the question incessantly in every class, even ignoring the fact that the pupil could get the answer from any Maths Book. Even more so, seeing as how this volunteer listens to every question asked in the lesson, she is astonished as to how this has by-passed her. The volunteer may not have phrased the immediate response in a way that the pupil would accept as genuine surprise and unfortunately the pupil immediately takes offence but she does tell him that the answer is 4. The pupil seems less than enthusiastic about the answer and seems more bothered by the phrasing and the use of five words by the volunteer which was intended to make it clear that at no point was the volunteer thinking negatively about the pupil {such as a) the pupil was stupid b) wrong to ask the question c) a liar or any plausible cause} but that she was astonished that he didn't already know the answer after 3 years and with so many willing volunteers, teachers, fellow-pupils and adults available at his side. The volunteer genuinely couldn't understand how such apparent repeated questioning had gone unnoticed by anyone, accepting there was absolutely no grounds to doubt the claim.
      The pupil turned on the volunteer, with the answer to the question becoming an after-thought. So the volunteer explained again that she regretted the phraseology of the 5 words as although it was intended to dilute any feeling of attack on the pupil but to stress the surprise of the volunteer at the situation and then offered a fuller explanation of WHY 2+2 = 4, not just state '4'. This is because the volunteer considers that teaching a man how to fish is better than giving the man a fish. The volunteer doesn't know how this pupil will react to that any more than how any pupil will react. All the volunteer knows that the vast majority of the pupils ARE grateful for the help, so it would be reasonable to assume that delivering a full answer is likely to be acceptable. Clearly it was not so on this occasion.
      Instead of being grateful for a full answer the pupil decides that the volunteer's fuller explanation is grounds for then doing the following:
      Rather than address the situation with the volunteer, the pupil then goes to the School Public Noticeboard and posts a message for everyone to see that the pupil thinks that the volunteer is some pompous, up-themselves, vain-glorious person, seeking for affirmation, to denigrate the volunteer and never for a moment considering if that is the right moral thing to do to someone seeking only to help. nor whether the volunteer's motive was to teach him 'how to fish'.
      What is done is done and for my part I regret my opening phraseology in the very first response I made as it caused the opposite effect of my intention. I have no qualms at offering an apology for that but I can only assure you that I am not what you make of me. I seek only to help out others. I'd invite you to self-reflect/debrief yourself too.
      Once again, all the very best.

      Not clear from the plans - I suspect that due to the 'heritage' nature of the site they were careful not to overdo the branding at that stage. I reckon there will be something on the glass of the club shop in the east stand, but massive crests attached to the brick cladding, barrel cladding or south stand/north stand glazing won't happen. Just a guess though.

    • @DuncTheBlue1878
      @DuncTheBlue1878 4 місяці тому +1

      Nope. Due to the heritage status of the docks, the club’s badge and ‘Everton’ sign were removed from the initial plans. There will be blue EFC banners in the main fan zone plaza and under the north and south stands though.

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 4 місяці тому +1

      Will: as the others have stated, there will be less roofline, in-your-face EFC branding than a large number of people expect or would like. There are limited, allocated areas for branding and the only ones that will appear on the barrel-cladding (mostly at the SE and SW corner) will be decided AFTER a naming rights deal has been contracted.

      Peter, indeed. IMHO an owner needs to have liquid assets of about 10 times the value of a football club. It has to be fringe to the portfolio, not core, as football ownership is more vanity project than mainstream business. It's a precarious, speculative business. IF, and it's a big IF, EFC is to be valued at about £1bn because of the stadium being at about 0.75bn (excluding any debit/credit for loans etc.), that means only owners of about £10bn liquid assets would be suitable. People or businesses that would be interested with those kind of assets are as rare as hen-teeth.

    Weve got to sought this ownership issue out or we might find ourselves in another relegation dogfight that we may not be able to get out of this time, we cant afford to keep losing our best players otherwise its another uphill struggle, its a bit sad when you have the likes of Newcastle a team that wins frig all coming in for your best players.

      I agree but the promoted clubs next season will perform better than Luton, Burnley and Sheff Utd. We’re likely to receive a points deduction because we have another committee hearing later in the summer. If we have to sell Branthwaite by the end of June PSR deadline and don’t replace him, we’ll be in a 4th consecutive relegation battle. Hopefully, 777 fail to meet this Friday’s deadline and decent owners can be found.

I think we're at the nadir and it will get resolved this next year, whether with points deductions or not. I have a lot of faith in the core of KT and SD and their teams behind them. It may not be pretty or sexy for a while but I have more faith in that from the 2025/2026 season onwards as BMD goes full throttle. Even IF a few valuable players go, it's not impossible to replace them with hungry young prospects suited to SD's vision. Many clubs have succeeded in doing that, with BHA being an extreme but shining light. EFC will be a magnet for those wanting to prove themselves, just not those who might be expecting to play for a CL team next year.

    Hi Nick. As to your previous video. The South Stand roof is longer than the North. It's obviously to accommodate the solar panels. Are the black dots on the finished roof sections anchor points for harnesses?? And it will be interesting to see how they will be finishing the barrel cladding on the West Stand roof due to the finished pathing.

    • @MrIanmmackay
      @MrIanmmackay 4 місяці тому +1

      There are anchor points on the roof and I think they are for a cable system, whereby the worker clips their fall-arrest/restraint harness on to a fixed cable, enabling them to walk about with less restriction than would be the case if simply being attached to a single point.

    • @DarrenCowzer-cx7ot

      The South Stand roof is far larger than the North Stand roof, because it is a bigger Stand, with far more seats.
      The anchor points may also be to tension the roof sections, stop them separating as they settle.

      Andrew: it's the other way around. The South Stand roof is larger due to the design of a the intended deep, steep Home Stand. The Solar array is an ancillary afterthought. In the original designs the Solar Array was going to be on the West Quay.

      Dave: Dunc and Darren are correct. As an extra observation, you can see that in the digging process, LoR have created a ramp from the North to the bottom at the South. It's unclear at this point in time IF the patch of cream-ish base at that southern end is previously poured concrete or the underlying sandstone on which they will start laying concrete and the water-proofing materials. I presume they will keep altering the ramp as they complete each bottom area, initially along the Seacant Wall under the Lower Promenade.

      @@alansimon1354 😆. I DO like your reply. Asking an innocent question or a question in ignorance is not a surprise and to be supported. What I WAS genuinely surprised about is how you've managed to evade any images or, as stated before, the design vigilante's like myself (Dunc is another, incidentally). So, it wasn't a 'pop' but an expression of genuine surprise. Clearly my statement was interpreted as an insult, even with the premise of stating that it wasn't a pop at you but a statement of genuine surprise. So, here is a longer reply that might fill you in on considerations that somehow you have evaded.
      1) Dan Meis, the architect, spent quite a lot of time in Liverpool, over from the USA, in order to get a feel of the surrounds and took it upon himself that his design would reflect the buildings already present, especially with regard to the docks and the predominant brick architecture.
      2) This would also allow an easier time with the Heritage Stakeholders who'd have to be assuaged in their concerns about a futuristic stadium sitting among the Heritage Docks.
      3) If you take a walk around the Albert Docks, take a look at the Old Tobacco Warehouse or Titanic Hotel, the design is generally of brick with windows in regular vertical and horizontal lines. However a stadium with needs for different, irregular locations for staircases, and such like, mean that a strict, uniform position for windows is nigh impossible. Random widows would destroy the overall effect.
      4) The vertically-interspatial effect of the brick facades and black panels makes the stadium look taller when one is standing near it. the stadium was restricted on overall height and the planners demanded that the roof be made 'squatter'
      5) A full unbroken brick facade would be ugly and unappealing so providing contrast and visual breaks is a necessity. So, without having random or dummy windows, which would be expensive, especially if they didn't have people lingering behind, the concept of using vertical black panels within the facade was developed, which served several purposes, such as the following:
      A) The black panels are a lot cheaper than the brick facades themselves and they don't require the infrastructure that windows do.
      B) They are perforated to different %'s, depending on location. They are solid where they lie in front of internal walls (which are not as uniform or regular as the old dock warehouses).
      C) They are perforated in front of staircases or corridors. This means they become both Wind-mitigation baffles and obscure windows as the viewer inside will be able to get an opaque vision of the external panorama. It will also mean that the staircases and corridors are permanently ventilated without the use of energy. One of the priorities of the stadium is to be as green and sustainable as possible, of course.
      In the original designs the perforations of the black panels were part of the Leitch design in the brickwork, to help emphasise the Leitch pattern. The planners didn't appreciate the extra emphasis and demanded the perforations were' pulled back', made smaller and standard patterns rather than specifically following the Leitch patterns where appropriate.
      I hope that you now feel up to speed with why the black panels are a necessary part of the permanent design?

    They said that there is the "potential for the capacity to be increased by 10,000". Does that mean they could add another ten thousand seats with a further future phase of construction, or that any regulation changes could mean that standing would allow 10 thousand more in the current setup?
