PAS OP DE VRIJPLAATS - Documentary on free space policy in Amsterdam

For years, ADEV has taken to the streets to advocate for more free space in Amsterdam. After a long series of evictions, the municipality finally sees that these communities deserve a place in the city. The municiplaity even tries to facilitate them with their new policy: 'Expeditie Vrije Ruimte 2020-2021'. Counterculture seems to be welcome again in the city... as long as it plays by the rules?
With this film (with a title that roughly translates as WATCH THIS FREE SPACE) we question the new free space policy of the municipality of Amsterdam, in close collaboration with movie director Floris Schäfer. What does a free space with risen costs and diminished freedom look like? How many rules apply and how are they enforced? Why should you be allowed to both work and live in a free space? Bust most of all: Where do we go from here? We interview several free space inhabitants, experts and a spokeswoman of the Amsterdam municipality. Unfortunately, the alderman declined to comment.
