Ben Nevis via the CMD Arete in winter and then flight off the top.

- Towards the end of the winter season (2024) I got the weather forecast I had been waiting for to allow me to climb The Ben via the CMD Arete and fly from the summit. It was a beautiful day and fantastic to be able to fly all the way back to the car, making for a 15 minute descent instead of a couple of hours.

Nice one Rob, thank you for sharing.
Superb wee video - certainly beats walking down the zigzags 😉
Dead jealous that you could get all your mountaineering gear, flight gear and the drone gear into that tiny rucsac. When I were a lad, I had a canvas sac, with spare heavy woolly stuff, neoprene waterproofs (sweatbox) a water bottle, bit of grub, map & compass & gloves. Crampons strapped on the top. Couldn't get anything else into it and it weighed a ton! How things have changed! Thanks for an epic video Rob!
It does feel like a bit of a golden age in terms of how little the kit weighs, we are very lucky. Perhaps the payoff is the mountains are a bit busier but I don’t mind sharing 😀
@@RobJohnson a bit busier... LOL that's an understatement if ever!!
This is on my hike and fly bucket list, along with many others
There’s so much choice 😀
Outstanding Rob 👏👏 Your knees will be grateful for the fly down instead of the hellish zig-zags 😉
It was bliss 😀
This is great Rob, awesome!
Thank you matey 😀👍
Wow......what an epic adventure.Superb video Rob.Most definitely one cool way to avoid the crowds on the pony trail.😂😂👍
Thanks very much. 😀👍
Great stuff, Rob, really enjoyed this video on ground to which I was once a regular visitor. What a great way down !!! Beats walking all those many miles on knee jerking rock and bog filled heather. When was this exactly? I know there isn't much snow around here now, but the Ben and Aonach Mor seem particularly short for this time of year. Best regards, Ian.
Thanks very much Ian, it’s definitely the best way down The Ben 😀 It was the third week of March.
Well done, nicely ticked ✅
I have to agree. Absolutely Mega 🙂
Thank you 😀
Nice one matey.
Bring on the summer now 🙂
Fantastic video Rob... as always!! Very inspiring. Keep them coming 🙂
Thank you very much, I’ll do my best 😀
Epic views thanks for sharing
Top class video as usual!
Looks different in snow
what is the wing and harness you're in? I wouldn't get my mountaineering kit in that sack 🤣
It’s a Nova Doubleskin (17) and an AirDesign LeSlip. So small isn’t it!
@@RobJohnson definitely looks/weighs the part and with a bit more potential than a single...
