- Does the Fenix A320 deliver on the hype of being a fantastic high fidelity aircraft?
Here's my review of the brand new FENIX A320 releasing in 2022 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This plane was highly anticipated as a game-changer, so does it deliver?
Thank you!

Pretty much the most comprehensive, complete and interesting to fly payware addon plane for MSFS to date. It's worth every cent..
I've used the pushback add-on twice (from KDEN only) and it worked flawlessly. I have the most up-to-date version too. I sympathize, because I can't use photogrammetry without tanking my fps (on all aircrafts not Fenix which I haven't even tried with pg), which is another issue affecting a small fraction of users. Hope all of these issues can be rectified.
Not being able to use photogrammetry is what MFS is all about, if you ask me. I'm sorry to hear that's affecting you. Thanks for watching!
This is the most underrated aviation based channel
hoch is the best..!
Thanks so much!
It’s amazing, honestly. Haven’t encountered any bugs, although getting it to work with honeycomb bravo throttle is annoying and most of the stuff doesn’t work yet
I hate the Honeycomb Bravo because of how complicated it is to program. One of the worst purchases I made.
Great review Hoch! Flown it once, love it. Can't wait to learn more of the intricacies of this beauty!
It's a great plane for ladies and jellie spoons
I’ll eventually get the fenix. It’s been on my radar since they started on their discord channel. But for now I’m focused on pmdg and the 73 series. I’m really jonesing for their 777s
I think that's a great approach to them. Heck, maybe you can catch a sale in the future
Very nice review, got my Fenix 320 about 7 hours ago. This aircraft is something magnificent
I have no issues with toolbar pushback, I use older pb version, maybe the newer toolbarpb has to do with it. Try downgrading
Thanks for the suggestion. A number of beta testers recommended getting rid of it, so I did. But I really miss it
Very nice video quality !
Keep it up :)
Much appreciated. Thank you for watching!
Pushback Toolbar is a App, that causes a lot of problems in general for the MSFS. You don´t need it, Fenix A320 has a pushback option in the tablet. The app will stay necessary, all systems are based on ProSim, all the magic happens in this app. The default MSFS is to dull to perform that way. Thats also the reason why this will stay on PC and will never be in Marketplace or run on the X-Box.
While the Fenix pushback tool works fine, Pushback Toolbar is soooo much easier. It's akin to Better Pushback in Xplane. I hope they fix the issue.
Thanks for watching!
Pov: I can't get nor Fenix a320 neather FBW a320neo because I'm on Xbox
By the way, your videos are great. This is the first one I watch and I was surprised when I realised you only had that few subscribers.
You deserve much more
Keep up the good work!
Wow, very kind of you to say. Thanks so much
Xbox user here. What's up?
@@freddiecunningham2860 what's up? How you doing watching addons you can't get?
@@freddiecunningham2860 Thanks for watching!
@@guilhermebyrne6458 I love it. More power to you. Im enjoying my Xbox version of MSFS just fine. Im curious so tell me what's so special about the Fenix ? It looks like the A320 Xbox already has.
Great video! The app is intended to launch it self seamlessly in the background, most likely what you experienced was a bug and if I am not mistaken Aamir said the issues is known.
Also from what I heard (again, not sure!) the toolbar pushback has a memory leak and is not only happening with the fenix, looks like you just got unlucky! 😄
When I first downloaded the Fenix, I started the sim first and MFS would crash every time after it tried to launch Fenix app on its own. Maybe they fixed it, or it's just a bug on my end. Just annoying.
Thanks for watching!
you almost made me buy this product !! GREAT Video ! But i'm afraid my medium rig computer won't sustain the Fenix toll on fps, and if the pushback toolbar mod, needs to be uninstalled for it to work, that's definitely a no go for me. I'll just wait patiently that Fenix will improve the fps issue, and compatibility with some mods ( and definitely the pushback toolbar mod)
Take a look at the performance gains when Sim Update 10 comes out
One thing I wish they will implement is the ability to use the MCDU on a tablet, as you can with the FBW.
Also the EFB could need some love on tablets. Like no fullscreen mode yet, breaking layout and a lot of touch events are interpreted as a select instead of click
I knew of that functionality with the FBW, but never used it. I'm curious what was the use case you found it helpful?
@@hochmaniac It was extremely useful to use. Never having to change view to input data, check constraints or anything that needed the MCDU. Always having it in sight no matter what else you are doing, I found it comforting :)
@@SirKober There's quite a few things that need some care and attention. I think the entire plane needed a few more weeks cooking before release and possibly some better testing. Maybe a few more noobs testing would have been beneficial, especially when you look on their Discord.
@@Verbal100 Ah, that makes sense. I always thought the use case was sitting on the couch and being able to monitor the plane without being at your chair.
Worth every cent!
Yes, I was very impressed. Thanks for watching!
The price and functionality is setting a new bar for developers that's for sure.
@@AirbusAddict first time i felt like i would really be in a plane as i remember it is just a Simulator. The sounds in the cabin are amazing.
Easy follow for me, notice based on your post history you're new-ish in the YT game and I'm all in, great content and presentation style, exciting to see what you have coming up. Insofar as their external app is concerned, the only reason this plane exists is the external processing, so not sure you're going to get your wish on integration there. They use ProSim and stream in, which gives them system hegemony but also some disadvantages. In other words, if they did do away with the app/3rd party, the plane wouldn't exist.
Interesting, thanks for sharing this info.
I appreciate the kind words, and thank you for following and watching!
Hoch might be new on the YT side but he's a legend (of his own making) on Twitch. ;)
@@softreset82 Aww shucks, ty!
The Toolbar Pushback does work with my FBW A320. I also had to delete it form the community folder as I found that it interfered with the native pushback. Preplanned pushback doesn't work at all, there are duplicated and delayed communications, and usually (but not always) results in a CTD. I do hope this is resolved, it is such a great addon.
Agreed! Toolbar Pushback is amazing and it's clearly a Fenix issue. Hope they fix it soon. Thanks for watching
@@hochmaniac he said, it didn't work with fbw either 🙃
@@hochmaniac It's not a Fenix issue. TBPB causes frame drops and has caused problems with the FBW and PMDG 737 for some users.
It surprises me that no reviewer ever mentions the lack of a proper manual. Without fly by wire and their documentation, a lot of simmers would struggle with the Fenix. There’s UA-cam, but I’ve found myself googling ecam messages and procedures that should have been in a product manual.
Interesting feedback. I'm not sure any developer can provide a comprehensive enough manual for an airliner. You're absolutely right that someone new to flight sim and tackling this essentially has to google their way around to figure it out. It's just something we all do in our flight sim adventure, for better or worse.
I don't believe the proper manual would fix anything. The Toliss planes (XP) have some of the most comprehensive manuals in that sim and their forums are flooded with questions that often time the paragraph titles of the first 10-15 pages of the manual. Look at PMDG, their original business model is literally manual writing and they've provided exhaustively comprehensive documentation. Their forums across AVSIM and their own were still littered with "how do I" questions on launch week.
@@softreset82 I'm not bringing it up as a solution to the zero patience crowd that seem incapable of reading anything more than the subscript of an internet meme. It would help enthusiasts that don't mind looking through a manual first when searching for answers. Any hobby will always have its share of people that ask for help before even trying.
The real 'manual' is nearly 2000 pages long. I'm a MEP/IR rated pilot and i've been learning the A320 for the last six months. I still have lots to learn. This is an aircraft (and the FBW) that real A320 pilots feel is realistic. A 20 page quickstart is not going to do anything for covering how to fly such a beast. Sorry. To fly this right requires some study and practice. The 'manual' is the real documentation you can find out there.
This is way better than the Flight Factor A320.
The new benchmark
Bold statement! Thank you for watching
The Main issue I have as you mentioned is the separate application required to run the Fenix. Looking at CPU usage which I think is the main issue you have FS2020 and the Fenix app running and my CPU with those 2 apps (i7-9700) is running at 100%. It would be nice if they optimised their app or gave the option to offload some of the work to another PC. Also I have found that my hardware controller (AXAir MiMap) which I use to control ALT, Speed, VS, Heading, etc does not work with the Fenix even though it is mapped in FS and works perfectly with FBW and also PMDG 737. Something else they need to fix. Thanks
I doubt the Fenix launcher app takes many resources, I just forget to launch the Fenix app first. Considering how long MFS takes to launch, that can sometimes be a painful oopsie.
Thanks for watching!
@@hochmaniac actually if you look in task manager you will see multiple Fenix processes consuming CPU and memory.
Yes, I have the same issue with my AXair. Works fine in 2020 and I was very disappointed it doesn't work with Fenix. Any reason why it isn't working?
Can you make a Side by side of comparison of the fenix and fbw a320
I'm planning to do a video of my favorite aspects of each plane. They're more similar than not, for obvious reasons.
Thanks for watching!
The way u say MCDU tho XD
"Mic-doo"!
Watching this video... your making me almost want to fly an airbus......
Do it!
@@hochmaniac Will you do a full series on how to fly it? And full MCDU programming
Looks awesome . Gutted though I play on the series x so won’t be coming to my hanger.
I could be wrong, but I think that not many of the top planes will make it to Xbox. But who knows. Thanks for watching!
Yeah you’re probably right.
I think, i'm still not sure, i prefer fby a320. With fenix i have several problems, the first one, setting cold and dark as default doesn't work work me, i have to turn in on every time from settings. The second thing, there is no integration with msfs flight planner, what is a huge pain for me. What is more, i can't get the integration with simbrief to work, i have always "no plan for the username". And the last thing, in my opinion tablet with charts and configuration is much better in fby version of a320. And the last thing, i can't find the way to make the irs alignment quicker
With respect, the MFS flight planning tool is pretty awful. You'd do yourself a a favor by embracing learning how to either input the flight plan via the MCDU, or getting simbrief to work. I'm sure it's a silly issue with the username that's preventing the simbrief integration, but it definitely works.
I'm with you on the EFB layout, in general, compared to FBW.
Thanks for watching!
I’m pretty sure if your going to fly a very high study level aircraft I don’t think you’d be using the Msfs flight planners still..
Can you enter holding patterns in the Fenix 320?
Not everything is ground up deep systems. Example being the fuel system which is limited by msfs modelling. They'd have to build a scratch system which could take a while. Custom engine model coming up with improvements down the lines. My major criticisms: apparent honeycomb bravo compatibility, passenger side audio (weak compared to flight deck).
What's better, fslabs, Fenix or both are very good but only for different simulators?
Fair point, thanks for mentioning it and thank you for watching!
Because FSLabs is for P3D, it's just not a fair comparison.
Bought the Fenix, love it , FBW is better in some aspects but the Fenix is more finished and functional. Looking forward to the Future of FBW, its actually enjoyable to watch it grow with each update.
I couldn't agree more with your review. Thanks for watching!
Hello,
What are FPS cost in VR ?
I can do VR with my gtx1070. But I know that external planes take naturally some FPS down.
To be honest, I haven't tried yet. I need to dust off my VR gear and give it a go
@@hochmaniac I can't fly without VR, and FPS rules my buyings 😅
So for the moment I will use the one from FBW ^^
when does the a230 for Minecraft flight sim comes out?
?
Truly, this is the burning question.
I was thinking seriously about getting this - but how did you get the wing views? I'm told that while this aircraft is really great, there are NO OVERWING VIEWS or any Showcase selectable views outside the aircraft, other than using the drone. This is a bit of a deal breaker for me as without these options, it makes videos of the jet pretty boring! And whilst I love the fidelity of the jet, I do like to look out of the windows and enjoy the view - and we have such an amazing view now in this new Sim. Just my thoughts . . .
To get the wing views, you want to go from the cockpit and move through the cabin to the wing and set a custom camera view
@@hochmaniac Ok, my understanding is that you cannot set views, only use the drone camera to move in and out of the aircraft. How do you "set" a custom camera view and keep it? Thanks for replying - Lee
Ok, it seems that I can set camera views - so I'll check this out. Thank you
@@TheVirtualAirlinePilot Once you set up the camera controls to move around, you should be able to set the custom camera positions. Such a difference once you have it set
@@hochmaniac Can you tell me what are the names of the camera controls that need to be set in order to move forward/back/left/right in the cabin?
Short answer: yes
Yup
sure is.
Thanks!
Jetblue or bust!
Amen!
Nah US Air or bust. Gotta have a bird strike out of LGA on your first run or you’re not doing it right
I can answer this without using it… YES

Im getting terrible performance. 30 more fps on the pmdg737
Strange. I heard PMDG 737 gets better performance than Fenix
@@hochmaniac Im sorry. I meant the 737 runs better

@@Putti509 soooo funny 🙄
6:48 .... Blame piracy thieves. Funny enough, they haven't cracked it yet so the program is working as intended... thieves can't fly the plane without the software.
Oh I'm sure you're right about the anti-piracy effort.
fps sucks
I've had no issues with FPS, but they just released an update today that is supposed to address that
