I love when people do this! It's so sweet and comforting, not to mention special, to know that you worked on your own wedding gown. My grandmother sewed her own wedding dress and she looked so beautiful. I love when things don't look like the cookie cutter modern dress and we scrap together something that's unique to ourselves. 🩷
I couldn’t agree more! Thanks for watching💕
Gorgeous
I just admire the fact that you wore a thrifted dress. The moment I saw you in it ….. you look gorgeous 😊 congrats!
Oh thank you!
You call that material dotted Swiss. It was very popular when I was a child. I am 70 now. My junior bridesmaid dress at age 12 for my sister's wedding was dotted Swiss. She had a ballerina length gown (mid-calf) satin skirt and lace top over satin dress, very reminiscent of Grace Kelly's gown. A simpler scaled down version of that. My mom made her gown and my dress.
A lot of vintage gowns have exquisite material, very high-quality satin. It makes sense to buy them and remake them. I saw a video here where a young woman bought 3 at a thrift store at Halloween time for under $100. One dress she bought for the high-quality satin. the other 2 she bought for the similar lace appliques. she covered the body of the remade gown with the lace appliques.
I meant bodice. She left the skirt in satin.
Remaking dresses is challenging but can be so fun. I have a Granddaughter who had a used prom dress and she wanted the bodice made into a lace-up back. I took the dress apart and made a laced open back it was fun!
Oh I love that! What a fun project
Amazing job and your eye for detail is chef’s kiss.
Thank you so much 😀
Your dress is beautiful. What I loved about this is you showed the hard work and thought that went into creating your vision.I hope you'll both be very happy together.
Awe, thank you so much for watching and leaving such a sweet note!

Thank you! A fun and challenging creative project
Oh my gosh I love your dress SO MUCH! You did an amazing job! Congratulations on getting married! :)
Awe, thank you! So glad you enjoyed it
Really fits PERFECT ! I love it so much, when dresses really fit, I mean REALLY !!! And this is the difference between handmade and bought in a shop. And one can chose the fabric, the style... But do not ever think, this is going to be less expensive! Good fabrics have "good" prices.
Congratulations ❤
Thank you💕
You look amazing and the dress turned out so beautifully.
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful dress and beautiful bride ❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
The Dotted Swiss fabric brings back childhood memories. Kudos to you for your incredible patience. The dress is sweet complimenting your personality
Thanks for watching💕
So beautiful. When you said Barbie doll in the end I immediately thought of Midge's Wedding Day from 1990... she was a red head and wearing a dress with polkadot tulle. Barbie was her bridesmaid and had a light pink dress also with polka dot tulle and puffy sleeves. This was my very first Barbie doll and I loved her so much ❤
Oh my goodness, no way! Going to have to look that up💕
It’s always a pleasure seeing your work on UA-cam, congratulations on you dream wedding gown, you make such a beautiful bride 👰♀️…congratulations to you and your groom 🤵♂️ 🎉🍾💍💐
Thank you so much!
You are beyond talented with patience galore. Congratulations on your wedding and your wedding dress was gorgeous ❤
Thank you so much for watching! I always say sewing teaches so much patience and this project for sure challenged that!
In Haute Couture in Paris we actually pleat the fabric first before pinning it onto the dress....it makes perfect pleats...I worked at Yves Saint Laurent, Dior and Thierry Mugler...
Okay, first you had the COOLEST JOB!! Haute Couture construction is an art form! Going to have to keep the pleating beforehand in mind for future projects
❤
How fabulous is it to make your dress exactly how you want it? ❤
Absolutely so fabulous! Made me feel so confident and happy
Love this! What a good idea and so beautiful!
I've just altered my wedding dress so I can wear it again and I loved my dress so much but didn't want to just wear it once 😀
I love that idea! Always good to rewear it and relive the memories
@MaddieLynn I wore it to prom last week as I'm a science teacher in a secondary school. It's a blue dress with flowers all over it that I took up to just below the knee so I didn't look too crazy and the other staff loved it 😁
Oh my goodness, your dress was so so pretty on you!! ❤🙏🏽 Congratulations on your big day and great tutorial. 👍🏽 🔥
I'm planning on making my own dress for my wedding too, eventhough I'm a beginner at sewing. And i love how your dress turned out. 😍
Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Making your dress will be such a wonderful experience and I’m sure it will be beautiful!
@@MaddieLynn You're very kind. Thank you, I appreciate it. 😊💖
I commend you, beautiful job. So nice to have a one of a kind creation. I repurpose old dresses and shirts and make them into Barbie size bridal dresses. I have made close to 100. I wish I could attach pictures to show you a polka dot dress I made, it was similar to yours but longer sleeves and the skirt was not tiered. Again, bravo for your creativity!
Oh how fun!! Sewing Barbie clothes is no joke, it’s so intricate and I can only imagine how pretty they are!
Congratulations on getting married!
Thank you💕
My Mother's wedding dress was dotted Swiss. 1952, very New Look, ankle length. Her mother made it.
Oohhh…that sounds beautiful!
Lovely fabrics! Those sleeves can go onto something else.
😍🥰
Another way to go would be to embellish the corset lines with tiny pearls, trim the mesh away, then wear the corset over the dress.
it looks like my niece may be headed to the altar. I've collected wedding dresses for over 3 decades. I would love to do something like this for her and I think I'll have to show her to put it in her mind as a mind virus so when the time comes she may consider it. It would be so fun to do something unique and not like every other bride out there.
I love this idea! What a special gift that would be for her
You did a great job. I'm not a seamstress, never made my own clothes, but Im very crafty and know my sewing machine and understand shapes and fabric. Im due to be married next Fall... I'm also broke af 😂 I can't imagine spending $1000 or more on a dress that I probably wouldn't be able to bond with the same way I would if I did it myself... I doubt being able to make it from scratch, but do you think its plausible for someone like me to revamp a thrifted dress? I may be romanticizing it in my head, but I am used to hard, tedious work.
I like to believe I can, or do I need to hear some hard truth? 😬
I’m a firm believer that anyone can learn to sew and thrift clothes even with no experience if your open to challenging yourself, learning as you go, and making mistakes along the way! Fully believe you can turn a thrifted dress into your dream dress with time, imagination, and dedication!
❤💝🥰
I’m curious, did you clean the dress before you started working on it or after you finished it? It turned out so pretty! You were a beautiful bride! Congratulations!
I got it cleaned before I started working on it
What APP did you use to sketch this out
The Fashionary App! It’s great
Creating your own wedding dress is such a magical journey 🙂! We've sent you an email, we would love to connect and collaborate with you.
Madison, you are gorgeous but WHY did you put all that white shiny paint on the tip of your nose?
Highlight is fun! Love being able Cora sparkly😉
Not princess Diana’s wedding dress
(Before)
It was indeed very similar to hers in the shape wasn’t it!
$7,000 for a wedding dress? I wonder why. You go girl. Have a good life.
It wasn’t $7,000 I spent about $40…perks of thrift flipping
I wasn't talking about what you spent. I was remarking on how much work goes into a wedding dress, ready made.@@MaddieLynn
Oops…lol! And yes, you are absolutely CORRECT! I always knew wedding dresses were a lot of work but I have a whole new appreciation for wedding wear designers!
Fascinating to watch. But the inconsistent audio quality & audio level in the voice overs made the watching experience distracting and uncomfortable.
I'm thinking a better mic or a wind muff would help.
She is a very talented seamstress, and everybody has their own preference, of course but I did not like the dotted Swiss material that she used, and the bodice just wasn’t my taste, but to each his own
Then don’t say anything…if you can’t say something nice just keep quiet.
Why not just use the entire corset on the inside of the dress, just sew down alongside the boning channels?
It wouldn’t have fit the vision I was going for
The dress was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! You did such a wonderful job on the vintage inspired dream of another time! Many HAPPY RETURNS AND BLESSINGS to you and your new hubby! ❤❤
Awe, thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the process
