The only other time I recall a helmet shell a complete blowing out like that was on a Schutt DNA worn by Drew Stanton in 2005 or 2006 against Northwestern, not nearly as cold of an environment, but the entire front of the shell fractured on a similar QB run. I recall being surprised that the incident didn't get more attention considering how visible the damage was. Even back then in a regional BigTen game, the refs stopped play before he another snap. I can't believe in playoff game in 2024, arguably the highest profile players in the league was allowed to play a down with a helmet that had experienced a catastrophic failure.

The fact that Mahomes took such a hard helmet to helmet hit to the front of his head and was completely unfazed by it, especially when you take the environmental conditions into account, is testament to just how awesome the Vicis 2 is. For people to talk badly about it is ridiculous. Schools and parents should be running other phones to order one for their young athletes. We have F7 2.0 on the way but would have insisted on the Vicis if I had seen this prior ordering the Shutt.

i like both helmets but when i saw that matt stafforeds eyes i started questioning the speedflex but then again the helmet isnt for everyone no helmet should be bad talked because of environmental reasons
