Good video! I love it when it gets straight to the point. Unfortunately he is giving me this error: Failed to launch the software update installer. Please try again. The same error in settings, and in Terminal. Do you know anything about it?

Ooh that’s not a good sign. What specific versions of Mac OS are you current running and what are you trying to update to? (Ex 14.4 to 14.5, etc)

@@EasyOSX Thank you for your reply. I was in version 14.4 trying to go to 14.5. I tried absolutely everything possible, until I came to the conclusion that the only solution would be to erase the entire disk, and start from scratch. That solved it perfectly.

@DesmontandoPayasos Sorry you had to go that far, but glad you got it working. Other suggestion I would have made would have been an install in place, where Mac OS can reinstall the operating system without deleting your data

@@EasyOSX Yes! That function is incredible, I discovered it before deleting the entire disk, the surprising thing is that after having reinstalled the disk, the problem was effectively solved, but another one arose haha. The date and time were completely broken. In short, I made all the scripts you can imagine, went into safe mode, and I did everything again, but nothing. Something very hidden was generating microbugs. I even updated to Sequoia’s beta to see if it got better, but it only got worse. That was the limit, there I decided to delete everything. It was the best decision, now my MacBook Air M1 works like new. I appreciate your attention, have a good day :)

Great video but doesn't seem to work for me. Terminal hangs just after the update is downloaded. Unless it takes forever to install.

Depends on the update. Which one are you getting?

How long did you wait? Part of it depends on your Internet connection, but I’d say roughly it takes an hour to download then install with a decent internet connection.

When i run the sudo softwareupdate -l command and enter my password, it says "no new software available". do you know why this might be?

What update are you looking for in particular? Is it a security patch or an upgrade (ex from Ventura to Monterey)?

Use this link to download it from the App Store. The method here is mostly for security patches for the version you’re already using.

    How do I upgrade?

Do you mean getting to newer versions, like going from Ventura to Sonoma? If so then you can follow the guide in this video I made. It’s more specifically about older versions of MacOS, but should also show you versions you can upgrade to
