That scene was shown after arin dies the one time and he goes back to retrieve the 50 thousand blood echoes he dropped and on that journey he builds up 5 thousand echoes. So when he died he lost 50 thousand echoes because now he can only retrieve the 5 thousand he built up.
If you don’t know how the game works, when you die, you drop your echoes. But if you die again before collecting those echoes you dropped, those echoes disappear forever.
The fact that arin likes a game like dark souls that has pretty much no story and no driving point but hates the 3d Zeldas says a lot about his gaming.
With Bloodborne and Dark Souls everybody has their own style of play, but with the 3D Zeldas Arin has to play it a certain way, he said that his play style with these games is playing aggressively, and hates using shields, or waiting.
