As a kid I used to stare at the stars and dreamed of becoming an astronaut. I'm so glad it didn't happen. We're desperately trying to escape our gorgeous planet while spoiling it with all kinds of pollutions often the result of corruptions, with wars, consequences of greed. Something's wrong.

Yes, with you, apparently! Humans are not desperately trying to escape the earth! We are desperately trying to learn as much about earth (and ourselves!) as possible, so we can save our future, and our heritage, right here on earth.
And there is NO WAY we can do that without an awful lot of observations (of many kinds) from orbit.
We can't save our future without using space to do so. Isn't this obvious?

@@Chris.Davies so tell me Chris, "save our future" would be to desperately try to terraform Mars while we are very dedicated to "marsify" Earth. Throughout history, we humans haven't made the happiest choices to say the least. But hey, let's keep sawing the branch we're sitting on. Who knows? Santa Claus will ease the fall with his sleigh and Jesus will make it brand new but in case he's not available, superman and Nasa will make it just fine like always.
