I will guarantee in the new CBA deal WNBA will not allow their players play in unrivaled. And if the WNBA cant gain profit why does Unrivaled think they can? Also the only game that were shown last year that had more than 500,000 viewers was the Indiana Fever games. On any network if you are not pulling in 2 million, they usually cancel you mid season.
You clearly don’t understand the business side of this. Warner Bros. Discovery is essentially paying all of the player salaries with the media rights money Unrivaled is getting for the programming on the WBD properties (TNT, TruTV, MAX). They have a three year contract, with the option of extending it to 5, in which case the total value is over $100 million just from WBD. That plus all of their other sponsorships essentially has this project already profitable before a single game is played. Everyone staying in one location for the duration of the season eliminates major arena and travel expenses, which WNBA loses millions on every year. Unrivaled is being run as a much smarter business, is what it comes down to. And they’re paying everyone more than the WNBA is, so good luck giving any of these players an ultimatum. WNBA do not have the leverage if they try it.
This title makes zero sense.. anybody who knows whats going on knows the players are going to put pressure on the WNBA with the collective bargaining agreement and Unrivaled as an alternative as leverage. Unrivaled is not meant to stand alone in a players career.
@Michael-of6zf that's not true because the players association is in active negotiations. Even if that were true that would apply to overseas aswell were they sometimes pay more ... wouldn't be a smart move to give players an ultimatum where the grass in greener on the other side.
@@JayAli-u3x what's Unrivaled have to do with the WNBA...well for starters they have 90% of there stars playing in there league with hyped college prospects knocking at the door.

Because the league is in one place, the services are basically a mini-mall which serves 6 teams - they have economy of scale. It will be interesting to see if the W teams make the reach to provide better for their players
What I don't like about the NBA is that the team comes down the court and shoots a three or one player isolates and goes to the basket for a jam. What I like about "team" basketball, which the WNBA and NCAA mens and women teams played, is just that. It's a team game. It takes teamwork to play. Could you imagine doing something like that other sports like hockey or soccor or lacrosse. Maybe we should turn football into 7 on 7 like they do in practices. To me Unrivaled is a gimmick and I can't see it around for long unless - The WNBAPA blows the CBA negotiations and there is a lockout next year.
The product, in this case Unrivaled, has to make MONEY. The thing these players obviously cannot comprehend and something most of them have never accomplished with the WNBA until Clark came along. All these things Reese was saying that Unrivaled provides, that all goes away if the league doesn’t make money.
Hype doesn’t equate to dollars and viewership. Massive revenue losses. Hopefully investors have deep pockets. P. S. You’re dreaming. This totally sucks
3v3 is for rec centers & half-court. The court doesn’t even seem like it’s the right length. Caitlin could shoot from under the opponent’s basket. I dunno. I don’t see their product replacing the WNBA.
Thanks for giving Unrivaled some notice.~!! I already see that my comment will be 150th. Cold January to mid-March madness ~!!! Let's wait and see how it all pans out~!!
I don't find unrivaled appealing. Some of those girls need the W to expand their career and profits. They shouldn't risk injury for a league not many will sit and watch.
That's okay but in order to have huge fan base built you need to be playing in different places . Playing all your teams under one roof won't excite most people to watch .
That’s what I’m thinking as well. If I’m already a fan of a specific player, sure I may check it out. But if I’m an untapped potential new fan, why would I care? It’s not my city. I don’t know anyone. I can’t watch in person. What is the draw?
I don't even like watching 3 on 3 when I'm playing it. on top of which, if they get even competent refs, Caitlin will be scoring 40 points a game, dishing 15 assists and grabbing 6 boards. I'm dead serious. she reminds me of Jason Williams but better.
Personally, I don't think Unrivaled will be as entertaining as the WNBA. I'm probably going to watch this first weekend. I think it's just too easy to dominate when there's fewer players. Back in the day, the NHL actually created a new rule to stop the Edmonton Oilers from exploiting a 4 on 4 situation. I think that fewer players makes defense that much more difficult.
Yea but they don't have CC or fans. Listen to that lady the timing is perfect with the growth. They just don't get it. Will see...I tried watching it with the Olympics twice, because of Haley, but turned it off quickly. Boring...
She's aware of Unrivaled? Because she seems generally clueless and out of touch. I have seen no sign of her actually doing anything of value for the league she oversees.
They are winning the SIDE QUEST right now because of the "content/creator/influencer" style in their social media presence which is very smart business. It's a great head start IMO but the actual product (the basketball part) will surely the Indicator for sustainability. Side note: I just realise you'd been saying "uwian na" at the end of your videos and I've been watching you since July 😂. Such an appropriate parting line in sports topic specially in basketball because in the 🇵🇭 we yell this in the oppoaing team when the game is already decided by the score before the buzzer. UWIAN NA! IT'S TIME TO GO HOME! 😂😂😂
Maybe "Unrivaled" will outshine the WNBA in its first season and if it does, I have some ideas for the NBA brain trust to help the WNBA compete and continue their stellar legacy and reputation which has been painstakingly developed over the past 29 years. Hire Sheryl Swoopes as your new WNBA Commissioner then see if Jemele Hill is available to become the new Executive Director of the WNBA Players Association. After that hire Tim Donaghy as Director of Officiating and convince Sheila Johnson how desperately they need her to give up her ownership stake in the Mystics and become the czar of WNBA Public Relations and Media Management.
Also, there should be a rule that all players are allowed to try to maim the most popular player in the league without consequence. It appears to be an unwritten rule at this time, but make it official!
There hasn't been a single game. No one has any idea what the fan engagement will be like. Players like the easy paycheck, but will it last? Who knows... XFL was supposed to work too. How'd that end up?
So, at least for this season, it will all come down to TV viewership to determine the economic viability of the league, correct? With only 850 seats, the live game attendance and revenue will be modest, at best. If the broadcast viewership is high enough to justify the TV contract, great, but if it's not, the league could be in trouble fast if the broadcast partners have an option to pull out. Apparently, there is a lot of investor money behind the league, but that can last only so long if the economic model of the league (relying on TV contracts) isn't viable. The games will be what they'll be. Watch the TV ratings to learn whether this league has a chance to survive in the long term. I really question whether the lack of connection of the teams to a city and a local fanbase can work.
I don't see a problem if they are trying to get more money since WNBA cba maxes at 250 K while rookies only make 70-80K. NHL rookies cba starts around 775K for 2024/2025 season. This why they need to fire the WNBA Commissioner! She says the League can't depend on one player but yet they are not complaining the profit Caitlin has brought for them. Maybe Unrival will have better open mind treatment instead of old bags holding on to past failures!
Sorry, I love your excitement...I really do..... but there is literally NO BUZZ..... and we all know how its going to turn out... and the "fans"....they could give a crap about how pampered the players are..... it will come down to Revenue... and in my personal opinion, you have to manage expectations... if they way overplay their hand and don't deliver, it will be over before it starts.... I personally see after the first couple weeks... this will fade to memory, the investors will take their $100 million loss on their taxes and life will move on....
unrivaled can thank Caitlin Clark for this league and all they gifts they are getting. If clark didn't put more eyes on the Wnba, this wouldn't have ever been created
Full court is a 3vs3 drill, not a game ... The only way to make it sporting is to ban shots from within the paint OR rule that at least 1D player makes the paint before the O can shoot.
One question I have not seen any info on. Hope it does not occur. If a player gets injured in unrivalled who compensates the WNBA team for the lose of a player, if at all ?
Nobody. the w only pay their vet players 100k if that Clark only makes 80k. It's not like they're making millions playing for the W so the W can't tell them anything..... That's why they go to Russia China Europe and play in the off-season, unrivaled is just another option.
If it becomes an issue then they will add clauses to their WNBA contracts, similar to NBA, NFL. Nobody has cared to this point because they don’t make millions and they historically haven’t drawn fans, so there’s minimal risk to the WNBA if a player can’t play.
If the younger Unrivaled players can do without the attention, they might decide to just stick with Unrivaled if it can financially sustain itself over the next few years- choosing better pay and the time off, over working in both leagues and gaining attention for themselves now that people are watching the WNBA. BUT I have a feeling some of those players are narcissistic and can't live without the attention ,even tho' the pay isn't as great as the Unrivaled. I won't mention in any names.
I’m so proud of Phees & Stewie for putting together the Unrivaled League. I’ve been watching NCAA women’s ball games from 2017-2024 of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Stanford Cardinals, Ohio State Buckeyes, Maryland Terrapins, LSU Lady Tigers, & South Carolina Gamecocks just to try to suffice my urges of not being able to watch Caitlin, Aliyah, Lexie (& her twin Lacie Hull), Kelsey, Megan Gustafson, Cameron, & Angel currently playing. I’ll definitely be tuning into watch Unrivaled & hopefully more people tune in. I get it… Caitlin brought most of us here, but that doesn’t mean we gotta ignore ALL the other talent of the W🤷🏾♂️❤️🏀🤙🏾
They might want to, especially if their lazy play and inept shooting become an even worse habit. 3v3 skills won't do much to translate to reg season play, and I doubt that the majority of the players in Unrivaled will be doing anything to actually improve those same poor skills that got them derided in the W.
The Unrivaled League consists of one league, not two or more. Therefore, the singular “it” not the plural “they.” I am only mildly interested in this one league.
I'm not going to watch 3 on 3 all the time. If this is all they have to win over the WNBA with, they've got another thought coming. Now if they want to play 5 on 5 and start another league and do away with the WNBA thats fine with me. I don't care what you call it, but I just want to be able to watch 5 on 5 and Caitlin Clark better be playing also!!!!🎉🎉❤❤
If the viewership is not there for it, but they can go past this year because they have enough investor and TV contract money to carry on, you have to wonder if they would quickly move to 5 on 5 and city-based in year 2, posing a direct challenge to the "W". It will be a war then, like the ones that took place long ago with the NBA/ABA and the NFL/AFL. And yes, under any circumstance, Unrivaled needs CC.
I think your great, anything that can give more exposure to women's athletics is long over due. Is there a nail length rule? Keep doing what you do you have a gift.
When I go to the playground there are some 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, until enough players show up and immediately they play 5 on 5. Nobody ever suggests to go 3 o 3 instead. 3 on 3 is very individualistic and where there are huge mismatches that is where the play is going to be concentrated IF YOU ARE FOCUSED ON WINNING! Everyone will figure out where the mismatches are and attack there. If guys are just messing around then play tends to even out because nobody care about the score. I don’t watch 3 on 3 because of the disparity. I would rather watch 2 evenly matched guys play. On 3 on 3 there will always be mismatches because you can’t depend on your teammates helping you. It eventually turns into a 3 on 2 or worse, 3 on 1 if teams aren’t evenly matched. I doubt that the teams are in fact evenly matched. The quickest, fastest and good ball handlers should win, assuming that they can all shoot. Of course someone like Caitlin Clark would beat anyone guarding her with all the open space. I wouldn’t watch this games even if they were NBA guys playing. I’d rather match 1 on 1.
I doubt that the NBA will try to buy Unrivaled. What I see is, the NBA trying to blackball Unrivaled from TV and media feeds just like the Big 3 right now.
I've seen a couple of Rose videos, and Lexie has had a big smile on both of them. Lexie, have fun, but make sure that you come back to the Fever. Don't make me call your dad. 🤣😂😅😆
It looks like a first class deal, about time a league takes care of the female players and recognizes that some of these ladies are also mothers and that needs to be a priority for them as well. I could probably do without any focus on makeup stations and whatnot in the locker room but not everyone is an old white guy like me and I get that might be important to some players. I hope the Unrivaled league is a success and provides players with an alternative to make money that doesn't include having to go to Turkey or Russia all winter. I'll probably tune in for some of the action.
Funny how Unrivaled came year of CBA is in last year … this is Contract ploy … hope it’s works for u girls … but without CC I dont know … will see … just want u to know Rachel I’ve been a fan since 2K… u have really came up … so Awesome… keep growin
They have that because the sponsors who partner with them thought Clark will be there play. What will they have not are the fans, there will be few watch unrivaled but will not be a success to beat WNBA.
I never liked shortened fields and small numbers. Even in Rugby. One team can afford a number of millionaires. But with 20 layers and over. Not as much. There is less chess thinking less team =less team play . I will watch Ina or 2 to make sure but I see 3v3 every day in the park

You've got to sell the product the most important is butts in seats and eye on tvs.Without fans, it's just another great sounding dream.
I am not impressed by Unrivaled basketball.
Thank you Rachel, OG Hooper!
Thanks for giving Unrivaled some notice.~!!
I already see that my comment will be 150th.
Cold January to mid-March madness ~!!!
Let's wait and see how it all pans out~!!
CC is most likely generating 1 million a month in revenue from marketing herself! Freedom of movement most other players don't have!
I guess we'll find out soon if there's a good reason that 3 vs. 3 usually is not played on a full court.
Also the basketball court is smaller
Not that much smaller
I don't find unrivaled appealing. Some of those girls need the W to expand their career and profits. They shouldn't risk injury for a league not many will sit and watch.
They’re making more money in Unrivaled than the WNBA, so yeah, they’ll “risk injury” playing for their larger source of income.
The players will have the exact crowd size they were happy to get away from
That's okay but in order to have huge fan base built you need to be playing in different places .
Boring...
The WNBA will try to discredit Unrivaled. Cathy is worried
Plesse. They are zero threat.
Totally agree!! And haha can’t believe you just caught that 🤣🇵🇭!
Creative satire... You made me smile. :)
😆😆😆
Or the entire team on defense runs home and there will never be a fast break one on one?
Rachel, Will YOU be at Some UNRIVALED Games to Checkout and give Us a Close Insight behind the Scenes ?
Yup. I’m not interested. Who is. LIV golf 2 minus Saudi money
unrivaled can thank Caitlin Clark for this league and all they gifts they are getting. If clark didn't put more eyes on the Wnba, this wouldn't have ever been created
Full court is a 3vs3 drill, not a game ... The only way to make it sporting is to ban shots from within the paint OR rule that at least 1D player makes the paint before the O can shoot.
3v3 is trash. It’s not going to be big. It’s boring.
Miami isn’t a sports hub though
The attendance isn't a factor. Place ess than a thousand. Rating will probably be low.
The players should save that cash because if the ratings are poor...250-300k...these will be the last payouts.
No one's watching it. Don't kid yourself.
I want to watch 5 on 5 on a full court…..
Unrivaled is sad…will pass
And yes, under any circumstance, Unrivaled needs CC.
without CC its DOA
I think your great, anything that can give more exposure to women's athletics is long over due.
Is there a nail length rule?
Keep doing what you do you have a gift.
THERE WILL BE INTEREST AT THE START , 3 ON 3 ITS NOT REALLY EXCITING, CANT SEE IT LASTING, WE’LL KNOW SOON ENOUGH
stop lying brid...there is no benefiting from each other on this...
Well, if Alyssa Thomas leaves the WNBA for Unrivaled, so much the better. It will be addition by subtraction.
cats love boxes, don't ask me why
I doubt that the NBA will try to buy Unrivaled. What I see is, the NBA trying to blackball Unrivaled from TV and media feeds just like the Big 3 right now.
I've seen a couple of Rose videos, and Lexie has had a big smile on both of them. Lexie, have fun, but make sure that you come back to the Fever. Don't make me call your dad. 🤣😂😅😆
It’s gonna fail 😅
It looks like a first class deal, about time a league takes care of the female players and recognizes that some of these ladies are also mothers and that needs to be a priority for them as well. I could probably do without any focus on makeup stations and whatnot in the locker room but not everyone is an old white guy like me and I get that might be important to some players. I hope the Unrivaled league is a success and provides players with an alternative to make money that doesn't include having to go to Turkey or Russia all winter. I'll probably tune in for some of the action.
Unrivaled league will not succeed
Why is everyone inserting Reese as much as they can? Quit pushing her. She's a media-created story, not a real story and should be treated as such.
A bit of a click baity title, sorry.
One could only hope!
Don't care. I'm never going to watch...
Funny how Unrivaled came year of CBA is in last year … this is Contract ploy … hope it’s works for u girls … but without CC I dont know … will see … just want u to know Rachel I’ve been a fan since 2K… u have really came up … so Awesome… keep growin
Will watch paint 🎨 dry faster than 3v3 full court. 🎉
It’s a fantastic opportunity to develop develop ball skills and fast play.
No they’re not. This league doesn’t look 2 promising as of yet anyway
They have that because the sponsors who partner with them thought Clark will be there play. What will they have not are the fans, there will be few watch unrivaled but will not be a success to beat WNBA.
They can co-exist for a time anyway.
If either of these leagues decide that woke is what they all are about they are going to lose lots of money! And that's up to them.
WMBA is as woke as it gets. Explains quite a bit.
Unrivaled will be a great partner for the W.
It will fail .
Any chance unrivaled gets acquired by wnba? Why doesn’t wnba start season earlier after march madness. Said it just when you did.
@@skepticman70 with what money. NBA not gonna finance another money loser
I never liked shortened fields and small numbers. Even in Rugby. One team can afford a number of millionaires. But with 20 layers and over. Not as much. There is less chess thinking less team =less team play .
I will watch Ina or 2 to make sure but I see 3v3 every day in the park
how do you explain... the timing is perfect... hmmmm
