I'm a machinist and very interested in your project. It sure looks heavy duty compared to other similar devices I have looked at. Do you have an estimate of the bottom line cost, not counting your labor of course.
I find CW swa glands with the olive very effective for terminating braided cables. I pass the braid through then back over the olive a smidge and it tightens up lovely, with the added advantage of the compression fitting, assuming the cable is large enough in diameter to accommodate the gland.
I am glad I came across your vid, I am a recently retired electrical engineer with a passion for 3DP and CNC, I have been watching MyRobertadams who has a similar machine but US, I have been sourcing the metal parts here in UK but the cost especially machining is very expensive, the kit you feature is exactly what I want thanks I will make enquiries at the link you mentioned, looking forward to joining you on your journey, many thanks. WOW that's so well built. You could mill aluminum with that. What's up with the Z axis? At the top there's a plate the holds the bearing for the ball screw. Why dose that plate hang over and block the Z spindle mounting plate from going up farther?

I have the same spindle ect, slightly larger machine. You;l easily cut aluminium, brass and copper all day on it. I even machine steel but at much lighter cuts. For non-ferrous metals I use an ethanol mist / spray as a coolant and lubricant. Single fluted carbide end mills from Datron. Keep the spindle speed up as high as she go's its a bit like a 2-stroke engine, not much punch in the lower revs.

What do you mean when you say you needed metalworking tools for the mechanical assembly. Can you buy it as a kit to put together yourself (that would only require some screwdrivers etc) or did you mean do actually machine everything yourself?
You can buy rails, bearings, ballscrews and other parts as separate items, but to assemble them into a useful machine it will be necessary to fabricate the base frame, mounting plates, and so on, all of which will require cutting metal to accurate dimensions, drilling and threading holes, and for the frame for this one, welding and riveting parts of it together.

hello there. . are you able to build a DC 3 phase controller. that can shot signals in each phase 1.2.3 very fast from 20v upto 160v. and from 6 up to 8 amp's and from 2.5 upto 50 killohertz?
looking at the bob and processorboard makes me wonder why they dint soldered the female plugs to the bottom of the processorboard doing that would mean you can basicly plug the processorboard straight intoo the bob so it becomes one unit

@@jwflame thanks I watched and read it all now. One query. In Your video you say the 4 core plus eatch for limit switches is 0.50 MM but in your list of components its 0.75. is 0.5 big enough as its a lot cheaper. ;)
john flower he has it correct, he's standing/filming from the left side of the machine. The software operates from the perspective of the front of the machine facing the spindle.

I'd say that's about uk-£1500-1800 worth of equipment there so far. Looks like it's going to be a beefy machine.

We build one too of components from China. They provide cheap but a pretty good quality stuff.

The two boards are made by totally separate companies, the lower board was designed after the first one.
