That cash part can work if you’re considering selling after 65. No tax on profit if held for 3 years (183 days per year) and 65. Bringing cash in with a couple of folks each with 10K. Lawyer though a must.

nice one thanks... Ive been here 5 years and seen so many times people coming over here with a pocket full of money and good intentions and having to leave after two years with broken dreams and the madness of Spanish red tape.... it sucks big stylee.... the system is very difficult to navigate....

@@sjgyomrey thanks for watching! Not so straight forward indeed, underlining the importance of getting proper help along the way

My wife and I plan buying a modest home outside of the major population centers for (paying cash/bank draft-no loan needed)….something in the €40k-€60k range (2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms, 90m2 or larger); and there are a lot of great options. Some have even been refurbished/remodeled and are furnished or partially furnished.

Nice information, do capital gain taxes account for inflation

Thanks Chinedu! The capital gains brackets haven’t moved over the years if I’m not mistaken and they’re based on specific amounts of money. So they don’t really consider the impact of inflation, as to do so they’d have to be adjusted upwards each year in line with inflation. Hope this helps!

Can you advise if Owning a apartment (small) in a big city like Barcelona makes more sense than renting? If yes, why so? Know it is easier said then done!

Check out this video I did where I talk about a study done by a Spanish Estate Agent in collaboration with a major university: BUYING VS RENTING A HOME 🇪🇸🏡 Watch before you move to Spain
      ua-cam.com/video/4JrI5vvfkcc/v-deo.html.
TLDR: it almost always works out cheaper. Whether buying is the right choice though depends on personal preference and circumstances. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

What bank did you get your mortgage from? Would you recommend using them?

I prefer not to say which bank publicly, though it is one of the bigger banks in Spain. So far I’ve been happy with them because I get a pretty good reduction on the interest rate by banking with them 😊 Thanks for watching!
