I’ve passively listened to many kpop songs for years, but Stray Kids man.. they’re just different. The way they structure their music, the beat, the lyrics, the way they use their each unique strength, it’s NEVER boring ever. What’s more mindblowing they make almost everything themselves. They’re gonna be huge i swear.
I understand where he's coming from with biases against k-pop. I definitely had my own reservations about k-pop before really giving it a chance and then enjoying it. I think perception plays a large part in why people are quick to disregard it as pop and feminine (it also doesn't help that most really outspoken fans are young women). But k-pop is such a misleading title because there are so many k-pop groups that rap and cover lots of different genres. People don't give enough credit to the music industry in Korea. There's a reason why people get obsessed with k-pop.

I'm _still_ waiting for them to let the actual beatboxer -- Felix -- go to town in a SKZ song. I love the genius of how Bin worked the beatbox into a rap, basically rapping to imitate beatboxing. But fwiw, Felix is literally an actual, full-fledged beatboxer, and it would be incredible to hear them use him as percussion on a song. Especially if Bin/Han/Hyunjin rapped over top.

I also recommend the dance practice just because it's so dang SWAG. Victory Song - this song is FIRE. They did a version on the 2020 MAMA awards that is insane, so I highly recommend that, but the MV is great too. Muddy Water - I swear you reacted to this, but I can't find it. It's awesome. 소리꾼 (Thunderous) - incorporates a lot of traditional Korean music and instruments, and also slaps. :) MIROH - Changbin has a crazy rap in this one ;) Christmas Evel - not your typical Christmas song 😁

One of the things i wish people "in the west" would figure out about kpop is it's just fucking music, there's something for everyone! Kpop does have a bad reputation as being for only teen girls (not anything specifically wrong for that) but genuinely if you look around you will find something you sonically vibe with. Your Eyes, SKZ's most recent Japanese MV, would make you probably cringe and be uncomfy but Stay as a whole flipped our shit in a good way. KPop is just music sung in Korean. Yeah, there's some more to it than that but boil it down, you're just learning that! And that's cool!

it’s my favorite thing when you have such violent reactions to the sickest part of the songs hahahaha. i also feel the urge to shake changbin for being so talented! it’s insane how good he is! and then you cursing out felix’s part LMAO. very affirming to have someone who has similar feelings about their music! their music is so different and it definitely helped me fight my own biases against kpop. and that’s coming from someone who mostly listens to indie music!
You know, I don't know if anyone has told you to react to Victory Song, but I will! Felix's part in that... I'll say no more. Their title track Thunderous, too; Changbin's rap flow in that is SO smooth and impressive! Also, Easy and Any are really rap heavy tracks, and if my memory serves me correctly, I don't think you've seen those yet either. Easy has one of Changbin's fastest raps, and Any gets some iconic Lee Know and Felix. So much good music, so much to explore! They of course have softer songs--they really do all genres--but like I swear a third of their discography is just pure motivation and hype.

I agree , for me K-pop it means only pop coming from Korea period. Because every group is different, not all the same at all. Especially Stray Kids , they are totally different, they were given the opportunity from the start to be more "independent" and fully part of the creative process. Not all groups have this chance from the start maybe with time some groups have more opportunities but stray kids (BTS too actually for example) write the lyrics, the melody , they work with producers for the recording part, the final touches , to have the JYp approved seal . We Stays are so proud of them .

I'm so addicted to your reactions. Listening to talk about music and the way they approach music it reminds me of the thousands of conversations my partner and I have had about these guys. There's something so satisfying about picking their songs apart and looking into the choices made at certain points, even down to which member they chose for what line. The amount of times I've sat there like "Yes! I agree!" and want to stick the kettle on and sit for hours with you just dissecting. It makes me feel less weird for not being able to just listen and enjoy but actually study the talent of these guys. So thank you.

Love this! Charmer is very quickly becoming one of my favourites. But, one Changbin stan to another, have you heard his 'Cypher' yet? Its BOMB! Think you might actually shit your pants hearing it. Its the best shit out there. Also, 'Matryoshka' by 3racha is amazing, and something they did before debut. It can be hard to find good videos on it, my fave should come up searching for the name of the song and 'jyp vs yg' i think. Changbin's attitude really comes forward in that one.

skz explore so many styles of music it breaks my mind but what they did with charmer is fucking amazing omgg ,, I would really like to see them try this a thousand more times, and changbin's beatbox is the best part of the song, periodt
it’s my favorite thing when you have such violent reactions to the sickest part of the songs hahahaha. i also feel the urge to shake changbin for being so talented! it’s insane how good he is! and then you cursing out felix’s part LMAO. very affirming to have someone who has similar feelings about their music! their music is so different and it definitely helped me fight my own biases against kpop. and that’s coming from someone who mostly listens to indie music!
You know, I don't know if anyone has told you to react to Victory Song, but I will! Felix's part in that... I'll say no more. Their title track Thunderous, too; Changbin's rap flow in that is SO smooth and impressive!
Also, Easy and Any are really rap heavy tracks, and if my memory serves me correctly, I don't think you've seen those yet either. Easy has one of Changbin's fastest raps, and Any gets some iconic Lee Know and Felix. So much good music, so much to explore! They of course have softer songs--they really do all genres--but like I swear a third of their discography is just pure motivation and hype.

I agree , for me K-pop it means only pop coming from Korea period. Because every group is different, not all the same at all. Especially Stray Kids , they are totally different, they were given the opportunity from the start to be more "independent" and fully part of the creative process. Not all groups have this chance from the start maybe with time some groups have more opportunities but stray kids (BTS too actually for example) write the lyrics, the melody , they work with producers for the recording part, the final touches , to have the JYp approved seal . We Stays are so proud of them .

I'm so addicted to your reactions. Listening to talk about music and the way they approach music it reminds me of the thousands of conversations my partner and I have had about these guys. There's something so satisfying about picking their songs apart and looking into the choices made at certain points, even down to which member they chose for what line. The amount of times I've sat there like "Yes! I agree!" and want to stick the kettle on and sit for hours with you just dissecting. It makes me feel less weird for not being able to just listen and enjoy but actually study the talent of these guys. So thank you.

I’ve definitely been guilty of stereotyping certain genres or artists to a particular gender or group. But the longer this channel has gone on, the more I’ve realised that it might be one of the only non-discriminatory things left on the planet, everybody just loves whatever they want! Although I must admit, being almost the only male at a Stray Kids event in London was very strange lmao

Love this! Charmer is very quickly becoming one of my favourites.
But, one Changbin stan to another, have you heard his 'Cypher' yet? Its BOMB! Think you might actually shit your pants hearing it. Its the best shit out there. Also, 'Matryoshka' by 3racha is amazing, and something they did before debut. It can be hard to find good videos on it, my fave should come up searching for the name of the song and 'jyp vs yg' i think. Changbin's attitude really comes forward in that one.
