Thanks for the video. I had heard of Ham Shack Hotline, but your video did such a great job of laying out not only how to get up and running but also some great uses for it. I got provisioned yesterday and running today. Now to figure out Hams Over IP
I'm glad you found the video helpful! It's exciting to hear that you're all set up and ready to explore Ham Shack Hotline. Hams Over IP will definitely open up some new possibilities for you!
Your Welcome! I know a few hams that have their own 10 digit external number but I would suggest opening a ticket with the HH support team to get the real answer.
I have a phone up and running and have for a while. Not sure that it's taken off yet, but if you build it, they will come, even if it takes a while. I have never heard of hams over IP. I look forward to hearing more.
I love HS hotline, but it is what you make it. HINT: if you need a state, country, county or Grid for an award? Go to the users phone book online and search users in that state, county, country etc. You then start calling those Hams. I just start at the top of the list and call extensions until someone answers. I introduce myself and explain I need there country etc. I ask if they have 15 minutes to help. If yes, I invite them to a band/frequency and I call them and get that QSO. Sometimes it may require skipping to another band, but it’s always ended with a great outcome. Not only do you get what you need, but you have a new contact. WIN/WIN. For this alone it’s worth it. PS: pay no attention to anyone suggesting you stay away over internal politics. That’s nothing to do with any of us end users. Our only job is to have fun. Let others fight. 😊
When shopping, ask the seller if they can enter the Network Setup (and see the options within that menu) without it asking for a password. Just because a phone was *reset* and doesn’t have a password, does not mean it is actually unlocked.
@w4tri please stop bashing HH on youtubes. The team at HH is very dedicated to the project, and they had to make some hard decisions for the benefit of the success of the project. Some of the "differences" you have highlighted on this, and other youtubes that you troll were due to some folks not following the standard procedures on the technical side of things. The project stewards and leadership did their best to attempt to resolve differences, but at the end of the day chose to do what is best for the project, instead of allowing some folks to further their egos. They also had to restore 3 servers that were "tapped" with unauthorized software/monitoring that was installed by one of the engineers who was asked to leave. THat engineer (without naming names) was one of the people who were already trying to gut HH and start Hams Over IP. If you ask me, that's pretty grimey.

Thanks. Yeah got it set up last night. Not the same wait time for provisioning as hotline.
I love the "extended warranty on your hf radio".
Haha, right? Gotta love that extended warranty! It’s like having a safety net for your radio adventures!
Thanks for the Video! I'll have mine going soon! Is there a way to get regular landline too while still using hamshack hotline?

Thanks for your interest! I'll definitely share more about hams over IP in future videos.

Thank you for sharing this awesome strategy for expanding our ham radio network and having fun along the way!
Thanks, I’ve heard of this before but didn’t know much about it.
Yea its been a controversial thing in ham radio - not sure why? But If you ever are interested in getting one setup let me know.
When shopping, ask the seller if they can enter the Network Setup (and see the options within that menu) without it asking for a password.
Just because a phone was *reset* and doesn’t have a password, does not mean it is actually unlocked.
Thank you for sharing this valuable advice! It can save a lot of trouble for those shopping for phones.
Good info😊
Thanks for checking out the video, hope you found it useful!
Over a year of service I never found a use for it. Dusted off the phone and sold it. Lots of inside political drama with the folks that run it too.
Thanks for sharing your experience, it's always interesting to hear different perspectives.
