I made it to Portimão to try the new and revived 2024 CBR 600RR on track!!!
On this we have awesome suspension and awesome electronics!
I'm not the fastest on track, lost my mojo a bit since my crash at Almeria, but I'm having fun so that's what counts!

I honestly thought you were keeping up with John and then he gave you the wave and just sent it! (that's not a dig at your riding. It's just crazy to see how fast these guys actually are!) Really good video Kate, Great riding!
Lovely that the racers both hung around a bit to give Kate the line & teach her a bit. She's a decent rider but there's always something to learn from watching the likes of John McGuinness.
That under seat exhaust is mindblowing 😍

The best sports bikes by far for the track (600). I don't want all the electronics though. I'd rather have an older ZX6R or a new R6. Far better

I'm too old for the riding position and the peaky power delivery would be tedious on the road, but despite that I still appear to want one... Nostalgia is a powerful thing!
It's a four stroke so not peaky against two strokes, however it does need revs to make power. For road riding you have no need for peak power as national speed limit in first gear and five more gears for a smooth progress. The slipper clutch and quick shift/blipper remove any sense of thrashing it, especially now that it's much quieter under euro-5. Ride safe..
4 strokes can be very peaky. I had a 1998 GSXR 750 SRAD new at the time, was all top end power and very peaky. As the 600s were too.
@MegaVinny73 Not compared to two strokes. Smaller capacity engines must use their advantages so small pistons enable high rpm for peak power. High revs are required to get what's available and makes for smooth engine braking too. Knowing how it works is key to riding up to the conditions smoothly...

@@UsernameKate Well done on picking up the many late apexes that unlock the flow of the circuit. You can still get your inside knee over the apex without taking foolish risks on clearance or tyre position in the circuit. Good ride!
It's all about unlocking the flow!!! I wish I had 2 days there to really learn to connect the dots better 😊

Did it feel small compared to the rr-r? The windscreen looks quite small and the footpegs are very high i assume. Im 5'11 and have above 34" inseam btw
Respect for just showing your riding skill. You could've gone for the easy likes with a selfie stick on the back of the bike.
My old days of gsxr’s & other sporty goodness, would love to flog this round Olten, but prolapsed discs in lower back say tough luck, just conceded to a Africa twin for the comfort,oh well 👍
Just need Suzuki to bring back the RGV 250 and the GSXR 600 SRAD with the big hump, in the same style and shape as before and I'm getting a loan out...

I remember following Sir John Surtees around Brands Hatch in the late 80’s. Not that I could follow him for long. From memory he was on a Patton.
Seems that he was underrated compared to Stirling Moss, yet Surtees will never be equalled as World Champion on two wheels and four.
VR46 is fast in a car but not F1.
SLH44 is fast on a bike but not MotoGP.
You were very lucky. Patton still race, I believe..
@@lonpfrb Patton do still race you are correct. I do not think anyone compared Moss to Surtees. Sir John Surtees is the best and most unique racer the world has ever seen. He will never be equalled. Hailwood had a good go as did Rossi. ( Rossi is winning 24hr car races). LH is not fast on a bike, he is not even National Standard. He would not win a top club race.

My Dad was a compositor working for National Newspapers in 50’s, 60’s and 70’s he told me what these so called reporters were like. He also worked for Hansard before he retired, I learned a lot about the tosser MP’s from him. Hamilton had a go but that’s as far as it went. He is an enthusiastic amateur. Most good club riders would ride rings around him.

Thanks Kate. That brought back memories of doing up and racing my 650 4cy Suzuki in the 1980's. Ran Yoshy stage 3 kit in the motor and Kirker drag extractor exhaust system. Bit radical when riding on the street as she only started to produce power at 4grand and blew form 7.5 grand to 12.5 grand in 3 sec in top gear. Only got to 240k as the frame was crap. Great review.

I own the 2008 model because it´s the peak of the 600RR, but the European 2024 model is looking absolutely tempting! 600RR is back baby!!!

Love my 2007 600RR Kate. Mine has 3 way suspension set up front and rear, which makes the bike easy to set up for me and my style of riding.. But with mine I quite like the rawness without TC, QS. Mine is lighter at 180kg, but less hp, but it is so flickable as you say. But this is progress in the evolution of bike. Great bikes. Would I buy a new one? Yes if I had room in the garage and a spare 10.5k. Great video, I'm glad you enjoyed the CBR600RR.
Far too many twins out there atm. Loving how they scream to 15k rpm..

I like the bike but I actually prefer less electronics. I removed combined abs on my 2010 cbr 600 rr and I hate riding modes

Being 6'3 and 20 stone, i don't fit on these bikes, luckily there is the S1000xr

Well done Kate you could've had him, he's my hero after he came to my Honda car dealership in 2008, I had just bought a new fireblade and enquired on my thoughts on it..
I had a 2012 600rr. Great Honda bought it back in updated version and back at a great price.. You can see your great enjoyment of the bike, track and honour of following the leg end around the track and his lines. Fantastic looking bike, sounds great colour best ones. Take up racing BSB 😊
I was one of the first to own a rr there was less than 100 hundred in the uk at time I asked for the plate cx03 rcv & got it love these bikes best I’ve owned

I'm not fan of the winglets, nor the undertail exhaust, but still looks nice. It also has a couple of features that the ZX6R doesn't have. hopefully it makes it to the global market next year
Great review kate ❤️ Glad honda brought the 600 back. But in my opinion those little winglets are completely unnecessary and kills the aesthetics of the bike. Other than that its a great bike😁

It's regretful that Suzuki can't get the GSXR 750 through Euro emissions regs. They're still for sale in America and have 30 more BHP than this, albeit very nice Honda and are the perfect combination of power with lightness.

Well placed front blinkers. I have often wondered why these are rarely placed in front of the handlebars. Should lessen the aerodynamic penalty. Guess where they are on my special.
You are getting on the inside too early on those turns. That's what sending you outside when getting on the throttle. Look how you are ~1m inside of McGuinness's trajectory.
Lucky you ! The track seems dry, most of the French reviewers I've watched only tried under rain pour and/or drenched track.
I'm really interested in that bike. Fells like the perfect bike for track IMO : I'm not looking at beating others or getting the lap record, but I wanna get better at track driving. This version seems the perfect tool to learn and enjoy at the same time while keeping the price (and maintenance cost I guess) to something reasonable.
Only downside is the public reception : all models for France are sold. ordering one now means getting it by December this year at best...
For an "old inline 4 from yesteryears that cannot compete with modern sportsbike" it seems pretty famous in shops ;-)

Private hire track my friend. It's not my responsibility nor job to be an example in this situation, its the event organisers on track days to set the 'examples' and limits for normal track days ✌️ also, if there was an issue with my speed, it would have been raised.
