It's hilarious that Yoko Taro keeps trying to sneak into FFXVI.
Who knows
Maybe Yoko Taro shenanigans is just the kind of fresh breath that FF needs :v
What if Yoko Taro and his team end up developing an FF spin off, like Mystic Quest?
@@SirePuns you means the realm exploded and everyone die?
I hope he gets the chance to do XVII. Yoko Taro has a peculiar style that I think would fit with an FF story. FF stories have always been about a big bad trying to get more power through crystals, and a big good trying to avoid that fate. He can pull something real good
@@luizy6701 you know that game is going to have other brances and game spin offs and would have its own universe that would somehow connect to Nier/drakengard lmao
Yoko Taro and Yoshi-P is something I don't know I want till now
Ko ngờ có ae vn cũng coi kiểu content như này đấy :)
My love for Yoko Taro games and stories is what free me over to SE games in general.
I'd LOVE a collab between those two.
Just think, Yoshi-P and the FF14 team can wrench our hearts already.
Add Yoko Taro and we'll end up with wonderful gameplay & world building PLUS a story that traumatizes entire generations (in a *good* way)
@@cuterpooter yoko taro already made the Nier raids in FFXIV, u should play them
Crying in Yoko Taro's games is normal but Yoko Taro makes you cry in someone else's game is different case. That's how I felt when I played the last Nier raid in FFXIV. Genius **insert swear word here**
I just love this dude. People are having so many expectations on him and he is always able to explain things humanly and in such a friend-like manner.
"we'll watch the trailer and I'll theorize the story for 3 hours" LMAO I'd pay to watch that 😂
Yoko Taro don’t forget, there’s always DLC…….
Yoko Taro best girl hahaha, I love that Yoko Taro is the fun chaotic energy to Yoshi-P's chill energy haha
This was genuinely funny to watch. Like why cant American game companies not be cringeworthy with their interviews. This feel so natural and flowing, like its just another day.
Clearly you've never watched any Indie Developers talk about their games. This is exactly what they sound like
@@thesagaofblitz Idk I remember those No Man Sky interviews the were awkward as hell. I think it just depends on what type of person your are. There's so many corprate people who end up doing interviews for games now that don't know or care what players actually want, or know how to have a decent conversation about a video game. On the other side you have pure gamer devolopers who aren't PR guys at all and will probably fuck something up because they absolutely don't know how to talk about their game in that kinda interview, game information kind've way.
I blame two things. Corporate speak and pandering to trends.
@@axis1247 To be fair, Sean Murray is just naturally awkward.
@@souldanny. Yeah but thats what I mean. Some devs are just awkward.
Square enix should just make Yoshi p the head of the final fantasy department. He's clearly what square enix needs badly. He doesn't announce games 5 years before it's even being developed and he's pretty much doing what Bethesda did which was release the game as soon as the first big announcement hits. The hype train can't be stopped.
YoshiP's already the head of Business Division 3, which comprises of 11, 14 and 16. Recently, Shinji Hashimoto stepped down as head of Final Fantasy as a franchise, and gave the reins to Yoshinori Kitase. Personally, I'd want YoshiP to take over from Kitase one day, but I'm worried that'll kill him off from too much work and stress @___@
I’m certain Yoshi-P has worked tirelessly to promote competent partners in his stead ever since his revival of 14. He doesn’t want to manage everything, quite the opposite. He wanted to see it placed in good hands, and be as healthily involved as he could be after that.
@@SolDizZo fair point; I believe Matsuda-San once said in an investor call that he wanted to structure the company in a way that certain people focus only on making and developing games, while others run the admin side.
I don't blame the directors for that stuff, outside of 13vs issues leading to 15, both kh3 and ff7r seemed to have pretty standard development times, they just announced them when they were stating to work on them which is a mistake. And once I would guess came from the higher management.
Thankfully it looks like they have learned from it
The real culprit for all the stumbling blocks is the company itself, which was greedy to the point of harming several creators who ended up leaving the company because of it.
Another interesting and funny interview! :)
Thanks for translating it!
always first to comment, love ya toasty!
@@blluist thanks for the translation 👍❤️
Quickest commenter as always Toasty !
I like how yoko taro is slowly inching himself as one of the big wigs from sqex. I mean he's always been popular since he's a good writer but seeing him with other producers has been fun.
Taro's friend, saito is se board member. it's the thing that kept him working there with all the shenanigans he does.
I like limited updates leading to a release and the fact there aren’t PTRs for ffxiv. New player here and the fact everyone gets to experience content for the first time at the same time is amazing to me.
Thank you so much for these translations! 100% they need to let Yoko Taro write a DLC campaign full of butts and despair.
Love those little translated bit! Shows a side of the team and Yoshi-p i would not know otherwise!
Great job!
we need more of these translated clips!
I think the XIV crew is perfect to work with Taro. They have extensive world building experience and at this point know when to tell Taro no and when to let him run wild
Take your time !! Don't rush anything. We will wait ;>
I am going down the Yoshi P rabbithole and have ZERO regrets.
The passion and knowledge he has. The deep thought when he answers a question, the humility when he takes responsibility.
I had never known a game director like this to exist, and I ADORE and aspire to be like him as an aspiring game dev :)
Thank you for the translations! Keep it up!
I love yoshiP for this I hate little bits of info about the game over long periods of time it helps me forget it exists making the wait bearable abd it doesn't thrust high expectations on the game when they might cut some of the content we've seen later on like cyberpunk
Reveal more when it's ready. Don't do it like XV where a lot of stuff shown in trailers did not end up in the game.
This, although I did like the game it was still such a disappointment to see what was cut
I refuse to acknowledge XV as VersusXIII. VersusXIII has YET to come out.
While that's true, the whole situation with FFXV and FFvXIII was really complicated. They had to switch directors and then development stopped for a bit then out of nowhere rushed a out a game. So I doubt it'll turn out even remotely similar to the FFXV development and launch. No need to worry, trust in Yoshi P. (Also I really enjoyed FFXV unlike most people, but the game definitely had a lot more potential, sad to see something like that happen with a FF game).
@@NessieNice It's ok you'll get versus for the next KH game.
It won't be. XV/versusXIII had a troubled development cycle.
We know YoshiP is basically the best project planner squeenix has, so it will be fine.
Holy shit they really stealthily just got straight to work on 16 huh?
Yoshi - P is a fucking mad lad, this far into FF16 already and he got an expansion done for FF14 at the same time? Really putting the rest of Square to shame.
@@omegaweaponredux Well 16 isn't as much of a workload for him personally since he's "only" 16's producer instead of both producer and director like he is on 14. Still, working on two big games at once is impressive.
@@KisiroKitsune 3, he still works on FFXI too. Somehow/
This is the same guy that made A realm reborn while working on OG ffxiv simultaniously. He got this
Thanks a lot, man!
Absolute LEGENDS right there.
I'll bet YoshiP will get Yoko Taro to write the story for the Expansion after Endwalker about how everything we achieved so far up to that point is meaningless.
Drakegard gods coming in full force, watchers, flowers and everything xD
While they're at it delete OCE servers. lol
@@Slade951 that could work. In a hypothetical FF14 shutdown event, why not make it memorable by having the players sacrifice their hardwork for a plausible future in-universe. If they did it in Automata, then they can surely do it here. They can hsve Taro prepare the script and keep said script locked away safely until the awaited time of shutdown.
i hope it comes out soon, really looking forward to it
Thanks for doing this.
New title by Yoko Taro: "Final Fantasy XVI.5 - Reintamata Requiem" You play as a half android boy who can summon Alexander where throughout the story, you question your goals and can relate motifs to real life scenarios.
If it still plays like DMC 5 I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Omg I can't wait to do the nier raid. Just started Shadow Bringers.
Good news, they're endgame tier item drops in those raids AND they're actually some of the best designed and inspired raids in the entire game. Like, actually, and thats hard since alot of stormbloods Raids/Trials/Dungeons are absolutely incredible. You won't just be playing them because its nier, but ACTUALLY get great rewards for it that will follow you into endwalker!
Enjoy!
Love the limsa lominsa theme playing in the background
no one is talking about foxclon just sitting there with a beaver suit surrounded by beavers
A full on Yoshida/Taro project would be stellar; he'd know exactly when Taro is onto something good and let him run wild but would also be able to talk him down from weirder decisions that don't work. Then again, those weird bits are also part of Taro's charm so I dunno. They should just make DLC for each other's games I guess lol
I really really like
Naoki Yoshida. One of the great once in modern gaming era. Probably my favourite right now.
Oh Yoshi, my reaction when FFXVI was announced was already "I am definitely buying this game".
Don't worry your precious head.
Everyone said that Final Fantasy died after 9 when Sakaguchi quit the team, and in my opinion this is where Final Fantasy gets revived again, if Yoshi-P is going to work on 16
@Jay Bee As great as Yoshi-P is, it was not humanly possible for him to be the director of FF16 while staying producer & director of 14 and producer of 16 and Head of Creative Business Unit III.
Only one of those jobs would already be enough for the average joe.
Honesty. I’m liking it. Keep up the great work Square Enix!!
Imagine either Yoshi P or or Yoko Taro or both working on Final Fantasy XVII. That would be epic.
Give the man an entire expansion for FFXIV.
here's hoping we'll see yoko taro on the next expansion
Yoko Taro REALLY was impressed by 16 huh? has he mentioned if he liked any FF games in the past? if I had to take a wild guess, I'd say FF6 is more along his jam.
He said the last one he played was FF9
i just fucking love Yoko Taro lmao
Personally I think lots of little updates spoil things, these days for movies you get Teaser trailer #1 Teaser trailer #2 Theatrical trailer. Official Trailer #1 Official trailer#2 Superbowl Trailer etc etc .
And before it has released in cinemas you have watched half the movie. Nevermind people breaking trailers down on UA-cam and going in depth and what every little thing could mean.
Gone are the days you would see one trailer, wait for it to come out, watch it and have a great time spoiler free.
Agreed
Jesus, how much of a budget does Square give these guys? Like these guys are their main money makers, the faith, and pressure has to be massive.
the already proved themselves
if it's him, honestly the game would sell like shortcakes
Dude... You only need to put that "Creative Business unit III" logo for people to line up to buy the game...
Experience from XIV is, the wait is always worth it, so players who knew this team are more than willing to wait.
Oh shit i didnt know that yoshi p was the one working on ffxvi
Yeah, that's a cool and nice info
Dude he's literally the head guy for that game.
And that's why I will buy it without hesitation. Ff14 has been an incredible experience, so I look forward to 16
He is officially only the producer, unlike being both director and producer on 14, but I feel he still probably had a part to play in the design side as well to some degree
He's 16's producer, while in 14 he is both producer snd director. So it's not exactly the same.
I suppose PC version will be available in .. uhhh 1,5-2 years after PS5 release??
Yall know if Yoshi P includes Yosuke Saito and Yoko Taro on FF16, they might connect the story on their Nier universe lmao
now i always look at yoshi-ps shirt
get him to write a 14 expansion
what if Yoko yaro would make Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
Yoko taro in yoshi p say yes timeline: first we add butt slider for the character creation
0:13 when FF14 higher ups checks the news on the situation at blizz
3:50 Yoshi P is definitely not doing what the FF15 team did, they released all those trailers starting from 2006 only to have the game reconstructed, change directors and have a different direction midway of the development. Even though I want new infos about the game as a fan I respect his decision to hold off on releasing small information and wants to release new infos as a whole.
Wow XVI is already almost finished huh, just the voice lines and its ready for bug fixing
Hi
I don't ask for much. Just for the TOS to be updated because I have zero confidence this weird community will improve on avoiding being a pain in my rear
I'm so very hopeful for XVI after being severely burned with XIII.
Also 2:50 "I personally get exhausted when there's little updates for long periods of time"
Dude, finally someone is saying it. I don't need to know all the details about a game 2 years in advance, not to mention that a lot can change in such a period anyway. Let the devs do their job and let them present the best they can do with the time and resources given, this little game where we talk about every single little character and technical or gameplay detail wayyy before the game is close to being out is just exhausting.
Add to that the fact that they can quietly take more time if needed instead of rushing out an unfinished product like we see so many AAA gaming companies doing nowaydays
good g uy!
it took me 2 minutes to notice what the fuck is foxclon wearing
That really Yoko Taro?!
Please give us european size official FFXIV Tshirts!!!! Like the one on right!!!
Dood tbh if FF XVI ends up being an MMORPG (Doubtful cuz' of the trailer) and was written by Yoko Taro, that would be insane !!
They need to streamline the early story to be more beginner friendly, it's a chore just getting ARR completed, and that's not including post 50 grind before HW starts.
@@rleften5788 well its part where most of the complain about MSQ are coming from so yeah i guess. Well endwalker is the end of this arc so maybe it would be skippable in the new arc.
@Jay Bee not really skippable, but there's so much convoluted crap added to ARR story that doesn't need to be there to understand the storyline, if they removed half the 'talk to this person' quests that literally make you walk 5 meters and remove unneccissary cutscenes from every single quest, the story would be 5x faster.
@@dixiebellau They already cut a lot of crap from ARR.
The way the Nier raids ended in FFXIV killed any desire I had to try anyhthing else by Yoko Taro.
His talents just didn't work for an MMO format is all. The little bit I have played of Nier: Automata his writing is much better in his own games.
Why exactly?
I hope soo much that they will do a better english adaptation than the FF7R's. That adaptation took too much freedom, changing concepts, characters' personaly and making some plot/conceptual mistakes. Luckily I'm from Italy and italian subtitles were adapted from the original japanese script, not from that horrible english adaptation. However this is still a problem for all the players that play it in english because that's their language. And, unfortunatelly, the english adaptation for FF16 reveal trailer was pretty bad too, so good luck english players!
They actually recorded the English version first, so the English recording is technically the original script for 16. Japanese version will be dubbed over it. I was surprised to find that out.
@@PapikinsAB No, this means nothing. The game is done in Japanese, the dialogue and the original script ARE Japanese. They then gave them to the American department and they have already started to do the adaptation and the dubbing, as they do not have to do anything else while in the "original" creation department they still have to finish the actual game, although the dialogues and texts are already decided.
Having freedom with localisation doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. It's just the reality of localisation. FF7R's localisation wasn't bad in any way, nor was the FFXVI trailer (we barely have any context anyway). FFXIV also has liberty with their localisation (way more than FF7R) and yet it's still faithful and excellent.
FFXVI isn't just doing the British English voice recording first. Yoshi-P said that they're also doing full facial motion capture and it's why the English recording is ahead of the others, implying that the mocap is done by British actors rather than Japanese actors. Clearly, there's a focus on the British English rather than Japanese here, and this is similar to FFXII which is another game that had liberty with its localisation and turned out excellent.
All the games I mentioned above don't have bad localisation. The FFXIII games would be the ones with bad localisation.
@@LightKeyDarkBlade The problem is with the content of the adaptation. I'm going to make a simple example. Do you remember the first chapter of FF7R? Good, in that chapter Jessie fall to the ground and Cloud help her. In japanese, so in the original script, she answer friendly to him, happy that he helped her in that situation. In the english adaptation instead, what happens? She answer in a bad and acid way, saying that she does not need help, all to the way of the strong and indipendend woman ideal. Is it bad to have a strong and indipendent Jessie? Absolutely no. BUT is it bad that the adaptation changed her personality, trumpling over the character design that the creators of the game decided for her? Absolutely yes! That's the problem.
The purpose of the adaptation is to modify certain phrases and linguistic expressions in a certain language (for example english) so that they arouse in the listener (who speak/read english language) the same reactions that a listener (who knows the original language) has in the original language (in this case, japanese). So that's the problem: they greatly changed the content of the scripts, changing characters personality, plot concepts etc. etc. For example Aerith's flower. In english Aerith does not say that it means "reunion", and that is foreshadow for Sephiroth. Se say that people give it to their lover when they meet after long time. And in fact people that never played FF7 original, when they played FF7R, thought that Cloud gives it to Tifa because he loves her, based on Aerith phrase.
Or, speaking about FF16 for example, in the japanese trailer they speak about Joshua as protagonist's brother. In the english trailer there is no such thing, they changed again the content taking off important informations for the world building.
@@LightKeyDarkBlade To make it simple, let's imagine that Leonardo da Vinci gives me one of his paints, for example The Mona Lisa. And I have to create a copy of that paint for colour blind people, changing the colors of the paint so they can look at it and see the paint as if they're seeing the original colors. That is an adaptation and it's a good job. HOWEVER, if I change those color and I decide to add a cigarette in the hand of the lady, I'm going to change the content of the opera, changing the meaning of the opera and the meaning the the author want to show to the viewers. That's gonna be a problem. And the english adaptation is in fault for that same thing: changing the content of the opera. There are differences between "adapting a linguistic expression that would be not translable and finding a solution with the same meaning" and "adapting entire phrases changing their contents, don't giving a f*ck about trampling the authors' work and going to give a different message to the players".
I just can't.... it's just too fucking weird.
what is weird?
As awful as I think the FF14 main story has gotten, Yoshi-P still gives me hope for the game just by his insane amount of passion.
