I agree with that OCD issue, the p-r-o should have been centered. Too bad the MP doesn't come in an extended version this year. I'm short and really love extended racquets. Great review, btw!
Thanks for the review! I myself come from the racquet history of RF97, Prestige MP (the older "real" MP), Prince 93P 18*20, CX200 Tour 18*20 - which makes me a control freak. I would usually just shrug off "Power" racquet lines like Ezone, Puredrive, etc. and naturally thought Boom fits in the category and never given it a serious look. Your review here made me want to test out one of my buddy's Boom Pro (2022) and I was pleasantly surprised! Didn't feel too overpowered, felt like the control was still there. Definitely moved the needle up in power, at the cost of some notches down in control. But overall still playable. Would love to test out the 2024 version and maybe even play around w some customisation! What customisations have you tried and what's your current setup? Have you tried leather grip w some leads around the hoop?
Hi Jonas, thanks again for the great review. Did you notice any changes in terms of comfort for the Pro ? I saw that the previous one was at 67, vs 64 for this new 2.0. Since I have a sensitive arm, comfort is a huge thing for me. Thanks , keep up the great work
I am demoing the Boom MP. I like it so much that I bought two of them. Reminds me of my old Head XRC. They should be arriving this week and I'm looking forward to playing with them! I strung both at 48 pounds (the lowest recommended tension) as I want to get a little more power.
9:40 Hahaha I agree. I have been a user of racquets from HEAD my entire career and will never change, but the last 3-4 years have not been the best for their font designers. I did not like the large single letters that came on the last generation, and the new attempt to put the racquet version in between the primary letters is just shambolic.
I get confused as to how to pick a Head racket (no demos here). This one seems like it's in my wheelhouse (Speed MP user), but then so are the Prestige MP L, Extreme Tour, Radical MP, Boom Pro and the Speed MP itself..
Was the Radical mentioned? I'm curious how Jonas would compare the Boom to that since he explicitly mentioned not loving the Speed or Extreme. But previously I know he's played with the new Radical MP.
Hi Jonas, I know you are a big fan of the Speed Pro line. I have been playing with the Speeed Pro 2022 myself for the last two years, great control and stability, great for two handed backhand, comfortable on the arms, but I still have trouble generating spin on the forehand and lack a bit of power on this shot. Of course it's a bit of an issue with my wrist swing as I'm more of an eastern grip fan. My coach is trying to get me to a semi-western grip, but it just doesn't feel right with this racquet. Do you think the Head Boom Pro 2024 racquet can help me transition to a semi western grip better than the Speed Pro 2022? Based on your review, I am considering purchasing this racket. Thank you for your opinion...🙏😉...
I’ve just switched from the Speed Pro 2022 to the Boom Pro 2022. The speed is a great racket but it’s heavy and ironically feels slow in the swing. As soon as I started with the Boom I just got so much whip my backhand (one handed) was a completely different shot. A lot of people weren’t keen on this racket but for my style (one handed aggressive baseline) it’s great!
@@thebisonroom Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it. I couldn't take it anymore and played my new Head Boom Pro 2024 for the first time on Friday. I strung it with the exact same string as my Head Speed Pro 2022 for the best comparison. For the main string I used a Solinco Revolution and a Head Velocity MLT in a cross, both at 22kg. It's still cold outside, so I didn't go with the voltage high. Any hybrid of a similar setup is a great combination on my Speed racquet, but after 2 years I still haven't found a setup that makes it easier to produce spin. If I don't get my leverage and swing 100% technically correct, this racquet doesn't forgive. But if I do it right, it's perfect. My problem is probably that after an hour of playing I get tired and I'm not good enough for this racket anymore. I had completely different feelings with the new Head Boom Pro 2024 racket. This setting is of course too loose, next time I will probably try to increase the tension by 2 kg with a hybrid or by 1 kg with a full bed Solinco Revolution or Confidential. But despite that I was able to keep control of the ball very easily. Producing spin was very easy on my weaker forehand, but so was my better two-handed backhand. The power that this racquet provides compared to the Speed is also very easy and most importantly accurate due to the added spin. After 1 hour of playing I was not tired at all and could still play my game. So after my first game with this racquet I have positive feelings and I think this is a good choice for anyone who has a demanding racquet and can't manage it...
@@thebisonroom I agree with you. This racket is lighter than it actually is. The balance point is excellently designed and thanks to it, it has easier maneuverability...
I'm a fan of 2022 BP as I choose it when back to tennis after 25 years to switch my Pro Staff 6.1 95 with something that help me developing a more modern technique with a classic beam. I still love it and as you already state I consider the BP a Classic-Modern racquet as is build as a classic with additional features that make it more forgiving, good spin generation by keeping stable and control oriented classic feel. I use it with Tourna Silver 7 tour that is pretty similar to the linx tour at 22/21 kg. As already said I bought 2022 at bargain price (around 100€) after some demo with different racquets like PS97, Radical pro, vcore pro.
Tested the outgoing Pro last summer and it wasn't for me. I would say if you have more of a classic technique and hit in the lower sweetspot, this racquet feels very strange. I thought it had very good power and comfort, but overall the control for me was completely off due to the head shape... ,)
I currently play with the 2023 Radical MP (dont like my serves and weight/depth on my groundstrokes). Thinking in switching to the Gravity MP or the new Boom MP to try to get consistent deep shots. Can't test either here in Brazil. I enjoy control raquets but would like some extra power.
Radical is sweet af once you customize weight and use spin strings at slightly lower tension than normal ...many people that luv the Rad MP have added weight ... most balanced well rounded racket for all areas imho but you have to dial it in with lil customizing... esp considering heads quality control lag. You could easily get a head racket that you hate and or luv if you ordered three seemingly identical rackets at same time and this is case for almost all rackets made in China
its actually good for an all court player but mostly a baseliner that wants more power than the Speed. At least that is the way i was usilng the former Boom Pro model.
Think they released it to take a bit of a swipe at yonex as the head shape is very similar, I use the outgoing pro which I really like as yonex have always given me wrist issues due to the lack of flare at the end of the butt cap so it’s worth a shot of you like the head shape.

I've been looking for a beginner racket for my wife. So far I've been between Clash 100 and Pure Drive Team. Would the Boom MP be the equivalent option in the Head lineup? (Myself, I'm intermediate, NTRP 3.5 and I play with a Radical MP)
