Puma have been a revaluation to me last year! ASICS Fanboy but totally blown away by the DNE3 and Forever Run Nitro! Two of my all time best shoes! Will try the Magmax when my Novablast have died
You r right! I bought mine and it can handle up to moderate paces with great level of responsiveness, confort and stability. The weigth seems to desapear as faster as you go.
Great video, I’m smitten with mine. Just crossed 328 miles. I bought them on a whim and they have become my favorite daily as well. So comfortable, great bounce, but the grip is the best. I’ve even done light trails in them. Getting a replacement is hard since they seem to be gone everywhere.
The shoe everyone should buy is Puma Nitro Elite 3. So far the best shoe I ever had. Ordered Adidas Pro 4 and waiting to see if it as good as Puma Elite 3. The trick with Puma Elite 3 is that you can use it for everything. And it's surprisingly stable. The foam is epic. It's very fast shoe for all distances.
@@NickNelsonReiners Yeah, the sizing is odd. I have EU 45 (10,5 UK) and it feels like EU 46 / 11 UK, while the Elite 1 was fitting perfectly. But I'm still OK with the size. I luckily have no issues while running. And if you have wide feet, OMG, that's a problem. You would have to go 2 sizes up and the shoe would be way too long. Too bad. It's fantastic shoe. For me the best, hands down. Forget Nike, ASICS, Saucony and all the rest. Puma Elite 3 is just so underrated. Waiting to see if Adidas Pro 4 is at the same level. It arrives soon.
Just when I thought I'd pull the trigger on these after my endless and pointless search for the Asics SB2… I was able to snag a pair this Holidays!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 The hype is real! Looks like I'll wait later this year to pull the trigger on these Puma MagMax.
Mag Max has many glowing reviews, and I've no doubt it's a great shoe. SB2 seems like a better option, much more versatile. I think I may also choose Deviate Nitro 3 over Mag Max, if DN3 is as versatile as reviewers say it is.
I also have gathered some in the last 2 months after getting the VN3 GTX. I am now in love with Puma running shoes. Just the Foreverrun Niitro... Of the 3 versions (normal, WTR and Knit (which has MUCH more rocker!)) the WTR fit and felt the best. Also suprisingly bouncy! :) JUST: it goes high up where the ankles are and directly below the material is the stitching, which rubs the left outside ankle! First shoe in general which does that. I have to experiment with socks to see if it is ok or if the shoe has to go sadly. Otherwise: VN2, VN3, DN2, DN3, DNE3. So, “missing“ is the Magnify Nitro 2 (the little brother of the MagMax), the MagMax and the DNE3. BUT: I have so many shoes atm ans bought in the last 2 months which i can never ever all run. SB1+2, NB4 TR+5, ZF6, Mach 6, GM1, all the Pumas, T20 Runshield, T21, used Sauconys (Speed 3, Pro 3, Axon 3, Speed 2, Hyperion 1 GTS, Hyperion Max 1 - all for y good price 2nd hand)used , Glideride, Kayano Lite 3, Kayano 31, Speedgoat 5, Fuji Lite 4, Noosa Tri 14-16, etc. Some shoes are fix, many i have to testrun and decide if i want to keep them or sell them.
@ recently sold load of my running shoes that I don’t use cos Puma just work for me (despite having pretty wide feet) including Noosa Tri 16 (which I really liked) and triumph 20.
I don't have this but I have the magnify nitro 2 with almost 600 km on it and it's an amazing cushioned trainer, good for long easy runs but also can do a bit of pace work.
I have both the MagMax and the the Magnify 2, and to be fair, I don't feel I get more out the MagMax than I get from the Magnify 2: I'm 80kg, and run long runs of 20km at 5 to 6 min/km. but the MagMax is heavier, clunckier, and more expensive than the Magnify 2. maybe if you're an heavier runner, the Magmax has a purpose, but you're lighter, I don't think it has.
i got superblast 2 dont think should get this one this time but maybe after retire my velocity nitro 3 almost 300km and still looks good puma grip is beast
I’ve done a bit over 100km in the Magmax. Overall I really like them, but I do have some relatively minor issues. I find the sizing of the upper to be great, but at the same time I feel like my heel is not secured as well as I would like. I wouldn’t say there’s so much heel slip, more that I don’t feel my heel is quite sitting where it should in the heel cup. It’s like there is always a slight gap behind my heel. This doesn’t cause in major issues on the run, but it’s something I am always aware of. It is not a size issue. I originally bought the 12, but sent them back and got the 11.5. The Bouncy AF thing is of course subjective, but I would not have gone there if I was Puma. There is some initial bounce, but this feeling goes away after around 7km. The shoe remains responsive for the rest of the run and doesn’t bottom out, but what bounce factor there is muted. Still, it is the most responsive unplated max cushion shoe I have worn and much more responsive and propulsive than the plated Glideride Max which I find to be a real slog, unlike the Glideride 3. I think the Kinvaro Pro is a better Glideride 3 successor than the Glideride Max, but that is a different topic. The upper on the Magmax is also better than the coffin-like upper on the Glideride Max (despite my slight fit issues). I would agree that the Magmax is stable, but I do feel my foot wants to sit more to the medial side. I don’t mean that I overpronate in the shoe, just that my foot sits more to the inside. Again, this isn’t causing any major issues, but I do notice it. I also notice how much shoe is on my foot. It’s just a little too bulky to disappear on the run for me. Overall though, for the amount of cushion on offer, the shoe is pretty damn responsive. I did a 20km run yesterday at around 4:55 per km pace and it felt easy. I was planning on 5:05 to 5:15 pace, but I just went with what the shoe wanted to do. The rocker is nicely shaped, allowing easy turnover without feeling unnatural. Despite the few criticisms I have, the shoe is comfortable and as unexciting as it sounds, fit for purpose. The fit issues I have are obviously based on my feet and not somebody else's, so others may have no issues at all. Anyway, yes it’s good.
Pulled the trigger and got myself a pair since everyone was praising them and haven’t been enjoying them so much. As a lighter runner I often feel that I have to fight against the foam😢also the right shoe is turning inwards way too much… but maybe it’s just me 🙌🏻☺️
Concerned about the width. I've had the Velocity Nitro 2 (which was a bit narrow for me to be honest, but fine to run in), and tried the ForeverRun (which was too narrow and I had to send back). Do you think the MagMax will be ok for wider feet?
Just ordered the Brooks Glycerin Max because I have relatively flat, wide feet. What is the main difference to this shoe? Which one do you prefer and why? I understand that the Puma has a narrow fit? Are both shoes TTS?
NB5 or Magnify 2. If you are ok with 36-26mm stack and a firmer feeling, then the Puma standard daily trainer, Velocity Nitro 3. I have it in white and in this awesome sunrise colourway :)
I have the Liberate Nitro 2 and didn't get along with them at all. Ran 10k in them and never had that much pain in my achilles after a run and I use other low drop shoes with zero issues. I only use them for every day use and walks for which they are great. But I'm reluctant to try another pair of Pumas for running.
Well unfortunately for me I did get rubbing on the side of my big toes because of the raised side walls. I was bummed because the shoe is amazing otherwise.
Skyward X i felt like there is 10cm of firm styropor under my feet. Strange feeling, i am heavy and have conciously putting force down and then some a bit wobbly feeling bounce which didn't resonate and immediately was awkward to my knees. 5m at home in one direction, multiple times a day for a few days (just to make sure i am not crazy) + comparison with other max stacked shoes were enough. Returned!
