Donell Jones, Case, Joe, Jon B, Brian McKnight, Avant, Carl Thomas, Montell Jordan, Al B. Sure, Dave Hollister, Musiq Soulchild, Anthony Hamilton, D'Angelo, Maxwell and Tevin Campbell don't get enough credit in R&B
A couple years ago him and Jon B made a song together called “Understand” and it brought back so many nostalgic memories of always hearing his song “You Know That I Love You” growing up in NY.
Donell Jones is so fine!!!! Where I wanna be is one of those songs as soon as it comes on my spirits immediately get lifted! That album had so many songs I loved and still listen too. Man he is so beautiful to me ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This man needs his flowers fashitsho glad y’all did this! Can y’all do my boy Bobby V next? He so underrated & his first album is top 10 most slept on R&B albums of the 2000’s!
I love Donell. His music attaches itself to memories. I have many different ones that flood back when I hear his tracks! Thank you for this video 🙏🏾❤️ Please can you do singer Lloyd next?
And what's crazy was that Donell Jones' Where I Wanna be album was released on the same day as Warren G's 3rd album I Want it All and Mos Def's solo debut album Black on Both Sides on October 12th 1999
not the mcdonalds manager discovering an up and coming r&b star on the clock flipping burgers. i hope that manager got his coins lmao he obviously has talent and drive to be a scout/manager who has an ear for real talent and the drive to hustle on the side
Interesting... Darnell Jones. When he first came out, I was obsessed w/ _You Should Know._ I'm actually listening to it right nah. His debut LP was cool, but I wasn't quite head over heels for it. Nah, his sophomore LP...WHEW! I think we all feel the same way about it so I won't go down the line and pick it apart song for song, but wow. What an LP. After that period, I know a few songs, but I was no longer invested in him. I actually really love 2006's _I'm Gonna Be._ I'll let that song loop on repeat for hours on end and be completely satisfied. Nah, we're in the middle of the aughts and I'm completely displeased w/ the state of R&B. The records stores started dissolving one by one and it just wasn't fun anymore. I was already grown by then so I figured, I done already had my fun so get over it and move on. That's exactly what I did. Anyway, I find it interesting that things start going sour around the artists' third LP. It never fails. The umbrella labels curiously dissolve and a lot of internal things start happening. Nah, Darnell is good on record, but live... I never knew that he couldn't sing live. I found out when he was on Auntie Mo'Nique's show back in 2009. Sometimes I'll check for his live performance and just be rollin'. He's been through a lot so I try to cut him some slack, but DAMN! He don't need to be on nobody stage soundin' the way he do. He also need to quit making new music because history shows (for most '90s R&B artists) that folks ain't showin' up for it and only wanna hear the classics. I don't make the rules. I simply look back at history. Artists just end up w/ hella ghost LPs in they catalog.
Once again slander the black man make them look ugly and bad and horrible at the end of the day I was a big fan of that song where I want to be and I got a nephew who can sing it excellently and also the remake with him and Jacquees it don't matter what is like dude that's always the bomb maybe you need to go and listen to it the remake of where I want to be with Jacquees and Darnell Jones God bless this man my last name is Jonas👩🏾🎓🗽😁🦁💋❤️💫
I'm sorry celeb or not .singer or not ...y'all know too much if his personal relationship...keep it music related. Only unless whom it is.. wouldn't mind
No interruptions, shorty...., I'm gonna be are my favorite. The steive wonder cover great too... glad he's at a better place. By the way why did you change your channel name? For a minute it caught me off guard and thought you were a brand new channel 🫢
Donell Jones definitely deserves more credit and he also deserves his flowers while he's still here
His sophomore album is perfect. The U Know what’s up remix with Left eye >>> 🕊️❤️.
"OOH! Say what. Say what. Say what!" 🎵🎶❤️
Both the original and the Left Eye (RIP 🙏) remix were (and still are) bangers! 🎶🎤🎤🎶❤️
Yeah good album
His debut album is just as good.
Donell Jones, Case, Joe, Jon B, Brian McKnight, Avant, Carl Thomas, Montell Jordan, Al B. Sure, Dave Hollister, Musiq Soulchild, Anthony Hamilton, D'Angelo, Maxwell and Tevin Campbell don't get enough credit in R&B
Honestly 😢
That’s a great lil playlist 👌🏾
Because half of those artists never made it out of the 90s.
Don't forget D'Angelo
@@Libra_Strings exactly 👍🏽🎶
Donell Jones also sang the hook on Big Pun's song It's so Hard off Big Pun's second and final album Yeeeah Baby
Donell Jones and Avant are my two underrated people in the game. They need more attention and more music plays.
His dimples 😍 underrated artist for sure
A couple years ago him and Jon B made a song together called “Understand” and it brought back so many nostalgic memories of always hearing his song “You Know That I Love You” growing up in NY.
Donell Jones' Where I Wanna be album is a classic
Donell Jones is soooooooo talented and he deserves his roses NOW, not after he passed away!!! 🔥🔥🔥♥️🌹🥀
Donell Jones is still making music money behind the scenes. He wrote and produced some songs for Jacquees and Ari Lennox.
I loved “u know that I love u” that was the jam👍🏽🤩
Such a good video too!
Such a good video too!
@@alanamonique84 it most certainly was🫶🏽🫶🏽👍🏽
the way he did his first BM is super fcked up.. but his album Where I Wana Be is an absolute classic.
All three of Donell Jones' albums are classics!!
I love his music he was underrated during his peak
Donell Jones needs a Verzuz with either Case, Joe or Brian McKnight
I’d rather see him do one with Case than Brian McKnigth.
Joe would win
Donell vs. Carl Thomas, Joe vs. Brian McKnight, case vs. Jon b.👀
Where I Wanna Be is so ENDEARING! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Donnell should've gotten more shine. He was that dude in the 90s.
Donell Jones the one of my singers. He needed more flowers.💐

Donell Jones put out the cookout jams!
He’s just another man who allowed those demons to control him.
I’m glad he made a change though. 10:40

Glad to know I'm not the only one who does this 🤣
She actually was at the end of the album on the remix
I JUST LOVE ME SOME DONELL JONES!!! HIM & JOE I NEED A VERZUZ BUT MOST OF ALL A CONCERT
U know what's up was actually #1 here in the UK 🇬🇧 in January 2000.
Jones was recently on the comedy series South Side 😂. Glad he's still around and has gotten his life on track.
Life Goes On was on repeat back in the day
"Don't get no letters or no money or no visits. It's like I don't exist."
Loved Journey of a Gemini 💜
