After watching Gugas Sparkling water trick on steaks I wondered if it would work on mushrooms and I was SHOCKED to find out how much it actually worked! This opens the door for some wild possibilities!!! I cant wait to keep working on this sparkling water mushroom trick!!

I find inspirations from you the SauceSquad and my constant hunt of social media to see what food is being made around the globe and how can I try to make it. Lets try to make some food and have fun!!
Awesome experiment brother. I look forward to meeting you and trying a vegan steak done by a true vegan master.
OMG, YOU VISITED MARK, GUGA!!!
May I know whether you and Mark will do a cillab someday??
So let’s do it!
@@eyespy3001 no no no,
Let's DEW it!!!!
Please make it happen!
Heck yeah man! cant wait!
I'd be interested to see if just soaking them in tap water does anything.
New video idea 🤔😝
Wait! Guga, Sauce Stache AND Atomic Shrimp all in one thread? It's like a WWE Smackdown of my sub favs.
Hi Mr. Shrimp!
Dang I wish I would have tested that now!!
we need a vegan sausage update on the Wobble Dog 9003i™, please! :)
Every time Mark says "and I was wondering..." it's so exciting, we just know something awesome is going to happen
That's awesome!! I wonder if it's because the mushrooms absorbed lots of water? It would be cool to try this with other liquids? Love these experiments Mark!! 🔥
I'm excited to keep messing with this!!! I want to do a carbonated "chicken" broth and see how it works!
@@SauceStache Love It!!
'The juices of carbonated water'. I loved that
I read the title as "I tried sparkling water on mushrooms" and thought for a second that this was going to be a wild video.
The bubbles... they are me!
I like how your partner loves ALL the food you cook for her. You're a good man and your videos are great
I wonder if meat tenderizer powder would work well since that has condensed bromelain
U should do a second carol group that goes in regular, still water. That way we can see if it's the liquid or the bubbles or the enzyme making the mushrooms softer! Loved this experiment!!!
We need the Collab to happen
I can't watch mushroom videos this late at night. Now I'm hungry AF. Ugh...I love mushrooms too much.
Also as a vegan who loves Gugas channel I SO hope you guys collab! Would be the best of both worlds 🤩
I ageee completely
Idk if the sparkling part was what made them soft, or the fact the mushrooms just absorbed a ton of water lmao.
Could be water but sparkling water is still acidic (carbonic acid) so maybe it had some reaction to the acid.
Wonder if it would tenderize with lemon juice in that case
I love experimenting like this!!! I will be doing this with sparkling water soon. The mushrooms AND the steak. Thanks!
Great vid dood. Great info for anyone meat eaters or not!
The mushrooms kind of look like scallops pan seared.
I hate to be that guy but I was having a hard time at the end figuring out which was what. I think the blue plate was the sparkling water?
So cool to see you two communicate I love both of your channels!
Wow last time when i was this early, smurfs were still living in those mushrooms :D
BWHAHHA
And a sponge was living in that pineapple.
@@HarveyHirdHarmonics 😆😆😆
When he put the chicks of pineapple in the blender, I said : that won't blend, and immediately he showed the mistake!
I love to see that kind of jokes on the video. Is like mundane cooking mistakes 🤗
When he threw those big chunks in the blender I thought "he's pretty confident in what that blender can do"
I was a little too confident hahahah
@@SauceStache I mean, the same blender (supposedly) blended an iPhone, Amazon Echo, some golf balls, and some "diamonds", so your confidence wasn't exactly misplaced. ;)
@@SirBob5 perhaps it was too heavy and there wasn't much space for the chunks to get whisked around.
Loved the call to Guga!
Waaaaaait a minute... I live in Orlando and work on a mushroom farm... Do you have a restaurant I can eat some of your creations at? You do a lot of things I've always wanted to try with mushrooms... I'm slowly crossing things off my list but DAMN! So happy to have stumbled across your content.
Thats awesome!!! I dont have a restaurant!!! I'm hoping to do some popups once covid settles down a bit!!
I hear a collab!!!
This is amazing! I really love watching your videos!
Love Guga's channel. And I love yours. It's always a treat when the two of you upload new content 😉
I can't wait to see the guga episode. Thanks for another great installment 🙏❤️🙏❤️
Using the sparking water is also probably alot cheaper then having to use an entire pineapple.
Papain and bromelain are enzymes that works on proteins. But the structure of a mushroom is made out of polysaccharides - fungi have cell walls. Pineapple isn't going to affect it as much as it does steak (which it ruins)
I wonder if using a beer flavoured with things like soy would elevate the flavour and texture of the sparklin water mushroom? You've got the yeast and bubbles already in that!
Good thinking!👍
Interesting 🤔🤤🤯👍!!!
Or better yet..
Soy beer
Add yeast to soymilk and ferment for a day
I'm so glad it worked out! Can't wait to see you play around with tenderizing mushrooms more in the future!!!
You are so creative with your experiments! Thank you for that! 😀🙏
This is amazing!! I'm so excited to try it out, thanks for the video 😃😃😃
Love the fact that you had a control. 👌
Buy a soda stream and sparkle the hell out of some vegan broth :D
that might end badly lol
I always love when my favorite youtubers mention some of my other favorite youtubers
This is such a great post (as always.) I love your sponsor btw, very cool. I am so surprised of the outcome of this post. I cannot wait to try this.
Excellent experiment bro!!! And your wife is just the sweetest!! I have to try this now!!!
Wow, didn't expected that! Great experiment!
Me: Wow, his blender must be amazing, I'll never be able to afford a blender that good
Him, an expert:
what
@@tacocatpoopracecarpooptacocat roy g assumed sauce stache knew the capabilities of his blender when he put the huge pineapple chunks in, but it turns out he did not.
So satisfying how you colour colded the plates lol
I love this kind of experimentation! This is the kind of thing rolling through my mind, all the time. Your channel is fantastic!
haha Thank you!!! Love that!
@@SauceStache You are most welcome!
Mark, I love Guga. Thanks for recognizing him.
I recently used the core and skin of pineapple to make pineapple vinegar. It worked great and it smells very much like pineapple. Just make a standard sugar water liked you'd do for Kambucha, boil it with the chopped up pineapple, add yeast or scoby and do the two stage fermentation. First stage for alcohol production, second stage for acetic acid.
You never fail to impress Sauce Stache, keep it up!
That's what I call ''dedication''. It was so cool... Thank you. 🙏🙏🙏
Okay, trumpet mushrooms and seltzer just went on the grocery list… 🤔
Definitely need to try this
Never stop dabbling and sharing!
I've used king oyster mushrooms as vegan scallops before
This is interesting. I think I might have to give this a go!
Try it!!! I cant wait to experiment more! I'm thinking about making a flavor broth then carbonating it!
Ok, I’m convinced. Definitely trying this one!
Super cool! I just started the video, but I'm excited to see the results!
It was so cool!!!
I wish my local grocery store carried more variety of mushrooms 😭 they only have button & shiitake 🥲
If it isn't a big chain grocery you may be able to talk to the produce manager and ask if he/she can get some in. I used to work in a neighborhood grocery and we would get random stuff in because people asked.
@@Something171 awesome! I’ll try that!
Try growing your own, there are ready-to-grow kits for oysters online
@@marskessler I’ve seen those!! Are they easy to use?
Buy dried ones online or check for Asian stores if there are any!
That's crazy how sparkling water was best. Gonna have to try this! I would love to see them soaked in the fish plant blend and the sparkling water for a possible scallop effect or something.
Watching guga is part of what turned me vegan, good to see that his knowledge and experiments are still of use to me now.
How did watching guga turn you vegan?
@@khabibnurmagomoodov9287 he has a video where his friend tries a vegan burger and likes it better
@@khabibnurmagomoodov9287 I can't articulate it. But I remember watching his channel as well as the sousvide everything channel almost religiously for a while not long before I went vegan.
That’s so awesome that the sparkling water was an improvement! I’d have thought they’d be soggy for sure.
Oooh thank you for this!!! I love your experiments :D xxxxx
thank you!!!
Wait, what ?! I had read the title and could not figure our what I had just read. Mark, you are honestly going beyond what the brains of most of us could come up with ;D And my gosh, it makes my life better. I just love watching you come up with all these crazy ideas and test them - you're not only doing it with genuine excitement (very contagious) but also with a great science-based background.
.
I am so happy you enjoyed this experiment!
I bet you'll be making them this way more often and actually, I might give it ago too - why not!
.
Sending you both all the love!
Stay safe and have a beautiful week ahead!
soaking in the sparkling water must have made the mushroom more hydrated so that when you cook it, it still stays moist instead of drying. Similar to the experiment Guga did with the ice cubes on the hamburger. The added water keeps the thing moist and softer after cooking. Not sure the sparkling part matters but could be breaking down stuff some.
Yo, these mushroom videos are everything!!!
Especially since some of us don’t do gluten-protein - or soy!
Love these vids with Monica😊❤❤
Neat experiment!
Sauce Stache & Guga collab would be EPIC!
You really are my favourite food scientist 😊
Wow thank you so much!!! :)
A lot of people have this close-minded idea of what being a vegan really is. Sauce Stache is showing that plant-based cuisine can be something special.
GOOD MORNING SAUCYMAN!!!
BUBBLING MUSHROOMS?!?
Goooood Morning!!! hahah yep!! lol
This is great. And something i can do immediately. With things I can find easily in the local supermarket
Guga Foods and Sauce Stache crossover!!!!!! YES to all of that!!
you should've done a control of just regular water
I know!!!! I’m kicking myself for that
Spotted the fiestaware. Love it!
OMG...how did I not know all this time that you are in Orlando? This was really cool. I always make king oyster mushroom scallops with Earth Balance butter and a squeeze of lemon, but now am going to try soaking them in Topo Chico first. Thanks for all your radically cool ideas!
Love me some mushrooms. Very neat!!!
love your experiments videos!!
and that thermometer in the ad is so cool it really fits these videos.... "plant " meat ahah 🤣
Sauce Stache is up yayyy
YAY!!!! Hi!!!
woah! defo worth a try!
Amazing!
It’s crazy how people just come up with this kind of crazy science! 🧪
If you come to Miami I would love meet you. Also doing this would making pulled pork with the king oyster mushroom like this make it even better?
Awesome!
I'll do thumbs up for that. Looks so good
Cool, Mark. I’d definitely pour club soda on king oyster mushrooms for increased flavor. I’d never even consider wasting a precious fresh pineapple even if it produced an extraordinarily better outcome. Nicely done. 👍
I'm looking forward to my two favorite food channels collabing!
I doubt Guga would like vegan meat 😂
@@maurice_mores I dunno. On his Souse Vide Everything channel, he loves spotlighting his side dishes and gives vegan alternatives.
Try Jamaican pineapple drink. I make it everytime I cut up a pineapple. Boil the skins and core on large pot of water with fresh ginger and turmeric. Cool, ad sweetener. Drink over ice. Its delicious and will help the system move.
You had me at King Oyster mushrooms and Guga! haha! Great video virtual brother :)
Definitley going to try making scallops using the pineapple method before i soak in Nori
This is nice
Gugas better agree to this collab 😤😅
DANG YO THIS LOOKS SO AMAZING! I am literally gonna get some mushrooms today to make this! 🍄🖤🍽
AMAZING!!!
Man I've hated mushrooms for most of my life and I want to try this
Its wild how it reacts!!
trying this tonight!
Your videos are so well thought out and produced. I started a channel and you make me want to make food videos. Newly plant based here and subbed. 🥇🥇
"it doesn't look so good right now, but watch this.." 🤪
awesome video, thanks ❤❤
Awesome!!
That's some good idea! What about all the other mushrooms or fungus you used?
Maybe, that's a way to go for those too
Wow I'm definitely trying the bubbly water 😁
I have to tell you, pineapple mushrooms cooked faster as they contain sugar. That's why they were firmer, they would need more time to cook through.
Boom dead on!!
Oooh to caramelise
He is a scientist
using this for the mushrooms going into my soup!!
That's wild i always tried to keep my mushrooms away from water.
Gotta try this.
