It looks delicious!! Nothing like completely homemade. Yum!!
So true, Jean!!
That base layer almost looks like a pecan shortbread!!! 🙃 I cannot wait to make this. Thank you so much again.
LOL!!!! It sure does look like a pecan shortbread! Ha!!!!!
The first time I had this dessert was when a very sweet aunt of mine made it for my birthday. I was staying with her and my uncle the week I had to go to Ft. Worth to take my nursing state board exams (this tells you how long ago that was because new nurses take those online these days). I fell in love with the dessert. Your version looks so incredible, and, of course I must try it. Wonderful memories.
Nothing better than those kind of memories! Thank you for sharing!!! xoxo
It's Just like Lemon dessert that my mother makes. But with the chocolate I won't want to share.
😃
It's sinfully yummy!
This is PERFECTION!!!!! Omg!!!😋😋😋😋 Can’t wait to make it!! Happy Sunday to my two favorites!!🥰😊
Thank you Lorie!!!!!!!! xoxox Have a GREAT week!
Can’t wait to make this, looks soo delish!! Yum!!
It's really is YUMMY!!!!! 🥰😋
Looks divine! . . . Loved the picture! Was that high school or college? Handsome! Good work, gentlemen!
Early college days!
It looks amazing. I can't wait to make it.
Thanks, Lisa! It's one of our favorite desserts to make! Let us know if you make it and how it turns out! xoxo
My mom found this recipe in a "church lady' cookbook back in the '60's, so nice you are keeping these great, old recipes alive! She replaced the choc with blueberries, strawberries for 4th July, and lemon or banana for summer, it's a great basic recipe for all flavors.
Yum! Yum! Nothing better than a good "church lady" cookbook! Thanks so so much for sharing! Love the 4th of July version! xoxo
❤️❤️👍🏻
Do you two ever cook live?
We've talked about and will probably do that before the end of the year. Is that something you'd like to see?
@@HowToFeedaLoon most definitely. Then we could interact with you both
@@HowToFeedaLoon I'd definitely watch.
I agree!! Would love this!!🙋🏻♀️
I would watch, just to see Chris roll his eyes at the Loon like at 9:41.
Y'all are just too cute! This looks delicious!
Will definitely be making this one. Plus, my mind is already trying to figure out how to do a smores version...
Gavin, my suggestion would be to replace the whipped cream with an Italian meringue and hit it with your crème brûlée blow torch right before serving. As much as you may be thinking about it, do not use marshmallow fluff. That would be too cloying for this dessert. Come to think of it, instead of the shortbread, you could do a base very similar to a Philly cheesecake crust for the Graham cracker feel and taste.
@@ericmgarrison Oh, yeah....Marshmallow fluff isn't in the running! I've never been much of a fan of that stuff so I usually avoid it. I was thinking of adding some toasted marshmallow flavoring to the whipped cream, but an Italian meringue would work well.
@@GavinAlexander. it brûlées nicely! And don’t go for flavoring..the brûléed Italian meringue will do the flavor and the toasted part too. That way you can paint two fences with one brush!
I ❤Chocolate!! This is so decadent that there is no way I would use boxed pudding or Cool-W**p for this recipe. If I'm going to eat desserts, it's going to be from scratch and worth the extra calories. I do love that you talk about alternatives though and it's been helpful in previous recipes. Thank you again!!!!
Thanks, Mona!! We agree...if you're gonna do this...might as well do it from scratch!
I Don’t know how I missed this.I’m gonna add a layer of sliced bananas over the cream cheese and continue on,I’ll top it ,like you Kris ,and plant some candied cherries on top WOW!!!🇨🇦🇨🇦♥️♥️
The addition of bananas would be fantastic, Paul! And of course you could never go wrong with candied cherries! YUM!!! Thanks, Paul!!
I always look forward to y’all’s stuff. You never disappoint! And you sure didn’t this time!! 😋
Thank you so so much!!!
I thought I was going to bust my gut at your reaction when Wesley said, for the third time, “it’s like shortbread”. Omg, you guys are the best comic entertainment and cooking tutorial, rolled into one ! I love how you have added old photos, such a personal touch. I was wondering how your tomatoes are doing this summer? I planted some Black Beauty plants this year to try. I should get a ton ripen next week. Can’t wait to try them in a tomato pie !
Hi!!! So sorry for the delayed response! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Our tomatoes on on the last leg of their journey. We're going to do a little farewell Instagram reel when we pick our last tomato, so keep an eye out for that. Next year, we'll introduce a whole new series from early planting season all the way through picking them and using them in recipes. Looking forward to that. Black Beauty tomatoes are glorious! And perfect in a tomato pie! Please keep us posted on that! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
@@HowToFeedaLoon you never have to apologize for a delayed response! I am grateful for any response. I will keep you posted on the black beauty pie, I am now full of Cherokee Purples and Purple Calabash. The Black Krims and Black Beauties will still be a little while.
Interesting fact- I found your channel last year, looking for a tomato pie recipe! And I have been a loonie, ever since- and never looked back! I don’t know what you call your fans, but I think loonies is a perfect name!
I will be anxiously awaiting the garden videos.
I would break up that crust and layer all of the components in a trifle dish.
Yum!
