Xtool just released GM V13.74 and that appears to have fixed the scanning topology issue of the FCM and it shows green again. Interesting things to note when I hit read troubles codes it comes up no communication with ECU and when I hit live data it comes back as not supported. I did confirm when taking the connector off it produced 2 U codes loss of communication in the BCM and IC.
They all are simple tablet computers, with 100% off-the-shelf hardware and using very similar software, so the main difference is the CPU they use.

Thanks for the sub, and yes the truck has not had any shuddering since. It has been about 35,000 miles.
Well this is interesting. When you scanned your truck in a previous video to show the Xtool D8BT had been updated with topology in that video the Xtool was able to scan the FCM front camera module. In this video neither the Xtool D8BT or newest D8W will scan the FCM now same issue I have with my Xtool D8 tethered on my 2016 GMC Sierra. I wonder what’s up with that and I wonder if all these scan tools scan the same modules or is there a difference would be interesting to know but too hard to tell on the video. Any thoughts?
Thats interesting. I will have to check on that. I ignored what modules were being scanned. I'd like to know if they changed the phrasing to something else besides FCM.
I reached out to Xtool yesterday on the FCM issue and waiting to hear back. I explained to them your D8BT was able to scan the FCM in your previous video but didn’t see this one until today. I sent them the report with the two trouble codes that were produced when I took the connector off the FCM and rescanned the vehicle again one in the BCM and one in the IC both saying loss of communication with the FCM. I checked the lane departure warning and collision avoidance systems and there both working.
It is possible they might have moved the FCM to the D9 scanner.
@@bernardaflores1720 Well I doubt it because then they couldn't advertise their scan tools as all system scan tools.
An All System Scan tool is supposed to be able to scan and see all the module a vehicle has.

I just comfirmed my launch and Autel both scanned the FCM with no problem.
Let me know what they say and maybe I will email them also.
How does the D8S compare in speed to the D8W? Wireless is nice but trying to minimize things that will go wrong if I keep it for awhile. Easier to replace a cord than a dongle. Any gains in getting the D8W other than convenience?
They will operate the same with the same features, what you will gain with the corded version is you will probably not have to charge it because when it is plugged into the vehicle it charges through the cord. What you will gain with the wireless version is the convenience of easily walking around the car and operating the active test and special functions.
@@737mechanic thank you. Do you know if speed wise the d8s is faster? Wireless can’t be faster than corded right? I tried to call xtool and no one picks up

@@737mechanic Thank you. I saw that video. I was trying to compare the D8S vs the D8W if possible. I think your video you referenced show the D8 is faster than the D8BT. Was there ever a follow up comparison between the D8BT against the D8W with actual times captured like you did between the D8 and D8BT? Thanks for the vids!

Thats such a disappointment about the D8W. Basically scanned the modules the same as the D8BT. So much for being faster... Definitely false advertising and you loose the voltage reading on the dongle with D8W too. The launch smoked them all, except the corded tool.
Launch & Topdon (Launch Software) are great options !!
