  • What started off as a basic video for a local 3rd grade class turned into much more. I had a blast hanging out for a morning with my friend and mentor Davis. He has taught me a lot, particularly with the pollination bees. It is great to have someone to bounce ideas off of when trying to improve and grow.
    We had a great time and ended up doing a hive inspection, witnessing and catching a swarm and performing a split. In this video Davis also shares a technique that I had never heard of before. It was pretty cool Good times.
    I hope you will subscribe and ring the notification bell ‪@brucesbees‬. There is more to come!
    Thanks for watching and thanks for the your support!

    Thanks for the video. I can relate to "buying time" in the bee yard, seems that is all I have gotten done for the last three months. Keep the videos coming. Always interested in what you are doing with your bees and good to get a perspective on Davis and a commercial operation. We enjoy your videos.

    Bruce, good video! So cool to be in the middle of a swarm! I just caught one less than 2 hours ago. It was in a small bush and easy to get. I didn’t really want it so I made a couple of calls and found someone that can pick it up this evening. I have it in a box waiting for him. That’s a cool trick to keep them from landing back on the original spot.

      Cool stuff Don! Yes this video was a lot of fun to make and there is nothing else quite like being in the middle of a swarm.

    Pretty crazy how a "bee show" can write and add to it's own plot that changes every few minutes! Never a dull day working with bees!

    I do like italian bees but they will swarm more often than other breeds...i use a cross, carnies and italian..i have other yards around my yard with both so it worked out that way...it turned out to be a blessing and my swarming was reduced greatly and honey production increased ... as with all things what works for someone else my not work for each of use

      I actually have 3. And a lot of others I have learned from over the years including many here on UA-cam. Davis has taught me most of what I know about commercial beekeeping and pollination and how all that works. My original mentor, David, is a mentor to both Davis and me and we have all worked together on some things. He helped me get started and taught me the basics. And Rusty has become a close friend and is the local authority on bee removals in my opinion. We all are working together on a way to grow our individual situations and meet our goals. David truly is commercial and bees is his main source of income. Davis, Rusty and me all have full-time jobs. And then there is Boyd who is also growing his operation and more than willing to learn and help in any way he can. He is the one who helped who has the wax dipping tank. We have a good group. Tight knit and willing to help each other out. It’s fun!

    Thanks for the VIDEO Bruce Sir. Question...Any idea how much Queen CELLS are going for? Last graft 55 out of 60 and will be selling 20 to 25 of those to a friend of the Farm owner. with 30 to 35 it will put us at the Farm with 100+ Hives to Winter for next spring. I need to get more drawn comb to grow any further so we have capped for the year. Have a great weekend. Ohh btw. That Premier foundation i got this year is great. The BEEs have been drawing it like crazy

    How long does a bee live?

    • @brucesbees
      @brucesbees  2 роки тому

      I think around 4 to 6 weeks during peak times. Longer in the winter.
