I have the GR II and I use the GV-1 viewfinder. It's big and bright and has 28 and 21 frame lines. Even with glasses, I can still see the 21mm lines. It's not cheap, but it is so nice to look through and feels high quality. Worth it in my opinion.
I have a JJC Thumb Grip for my GR III that I love. The only issue is that it slides into the hot shoe so you can't use it at the same time as a flash or viewfinder.
I use a GR limited edition and really really love it for its compactness and the BW and positive film JPEG and of course the DNG RAW. FYI for enyone who dont know, i always plug the GR to the phone or tablet using the supplied charging cable + a very small USB-C converter on the phone end to download the images and RAW to the phone and it works flawlessly with super fast transfers rate.
@@snappiness yes sir the original GR APSC the green one with charcoal buttons here and there, it is a beast of a pocket camera even for today standard, the high iso noises is not a problem for me because 99% i shot this camera in BW, i love the gritty BW of this camera in high iso, and this limited edition is very beautiful. I really enjoyed your videos about the journey with your GR and you narrating the videos very well.
I came across this video again and glad I did, because of your star tracker recommendation! I have the gr as well and definitely want to try this out! If you need another video idea, I would love it, and I bet others, too! Thanks for your videos!
I mean to make one dedicated to it one day, because it's an awesome combo! I've shot the milkyway with it a couple more times including some shots I'm especially proud of. :)
@@snappiness I have searched for astrophotography with the gr because I thought it would be lovely, in terms of size and weight and ease, and considering the amazing star trackers for Pentax cameras, it seems like a match made in heaven (or in astrophotography)! ;) Thanks for this!
I purchased the external battery charger, this way I do not have to plug the GRIII to an outlet and can continue to use my camera with a spare battery. Expensive and disappointing that it is not included in the kit. Great video!!!
Interesting! I didn't realize that wasn't included. I do think being able to charge through usbc is a cool feature, but I would want a way to charge outside the camera too for all the spare batteries.
Hi, the Gh-3 adapter has been discontinued and I can't find it anywhere on the internet to buy. I've recently bought a Ricoh GR II and want to prevent the dust. How did you 3d print it??? 🙏🙏
GR is fantastic. I've the GRIII now and it is as well aside from the battery. But my fav of these was the GRDIII and GRDIV. Still regret (one of my only) letting go of them.
I wonder if there is a telephoto adapter. Just bought a GRIII and don’t like the field of view. It is too wide for my taste. Obviously GR users are attracted to wide angle. There is a wide angle adapter. Why not a telephoto adapter to 35mm? I currently have the video button converted to digitally zoom into 35mm but I am loosing 25% of my pixels. I’d appreciate an alternative to this. Any ideas? Nurse Marty
It looks like they used to make them for the smaller sensor GR digital series. I don't know why they don't make them now. Perhaps to cover the APSC sensor it would be quite large and heavy. But I agree, a 35-40mm equivalent would be really neat. I know some people have wanted a dedicated GR with that focal length too. As you mentioned, for now cropping is their solution, which of course isn't the same thing but I think it works for a lot of street shooters and that seems to be who they are targeting most. Might be some other brands adapters that you could retrofit to the camera. Not sure.
@@snappiness you're welcome and I love your channel because we need reminding that what is already available IS good enough to take stunning photographs without us feeling we have to keep acquiring the latest/better/best new gear!
Yeah, I'm super excited. I've never bought a camera newer than two years old before, but I might break my rule for this one :D 40mm is one of my favorites, and the GR is just so darn awesome. Seems like a killer combo.
Great video! I have a question, (not related to the video) but I know the Ricoh has effect profiles and a lot of people like the positive film one. If you shoot in RAW it won’t save correct? But if your shoot in RAW+ will the jpeg save the profile, and the raw stay raw?
That's correct. I do like the positive film a lot on the early GR and GR II. The GR III has a different sensor and different look with it, but still nice. Some people don't like it quite enough. But people have also made lightroom profiles that mimic the look so you can place it on any RAW of any camera. I haven't bought any of these but it's a nice idea.
Any recommendations for a grip replacement or glue to reattach the original grip? Good video as always, especially for my favorite always on hand GR. Ever thought about the Sigma Dp1 merrill? There's also a macro lens for the GR iii pretty sharp I must say although pretty limited on use.
Hmm. I have not heard of a grip replacement. I have looked into the sigmas a lot. I am more interested in the quattro as my new full spectrum camera since my Pentax K-01 full-spectrum died. I didn't even realize Ricoh made a macro lens until I made this video and looked on the Ricoh accessories website. I have a macro adapter from another system that I've attached to it and have really liked. Not a ton of uses, but amazing the images you can get out of it when you use it.
Yikes! It's $79 USD for me and the cheapest wireless setup I know of. There plenty of cheap flashes you could use on the camera, they just don't come with a trigger and would have to buy separately.
Ever since you've shown 3d printed adapter few months back I got mine and it works like a charm.circular polariser is a must for some situations. Thanks bro :-D

I wonder if you can 3d print a hot shoe adapter so the view finder will be on the left side. Like range finder. 🤔🤔

Dear,

Thanks for the video! I also really like your GR shirt, where can I buy it?

Another excellent and helpful video. Thanks. What strap is that?
thx for highlighting my printable adapter, people just started messaging me with thanks, mentioning this video
