I may have filtered water out of Watson Lake before I learned about the contamination. 😬 It was just a snowmobile in a big lake so probably not the end of the world. I seem to be alive. 🤪
Looking at doing this same route from Kingsbury South, late July 2024. Safe to book a hotel for the evening of Day 5 in Tahoe City? Mileage pretty doable? Anywhere in TC to send a resupply? Do laundry? Nighttime temps? Thanks for your help… Bryan
I wasn’t planning to spend the night originally in TC. I ended up getting the last room at the first motel I went to. But had a backup plan to take a bus to a nearby campground. If you know you are going to spend the night in TC - I would book in advance. Just peace of mind. When I hiked the TRT you could send a resupply to Alpenglow Sports( email them to check if they will offer it in 2024). You can also send a resupply to the post office. Or buy food in town. I heard Savers is closing (that’s where I shopped for my result) but TC also has a Safeway. I don’t know where you can do laundry in TC (something I should have done!)
How is the water supply? Like if someone want to try to do the loop in 5-6 days? Also food supplies? What month of the year was this? Seems like an amazing weather. Congratulations you are amazing
I hiked the trail mid July in 2022. Weather was fantastic, pretty hot in the afternoon, but to be expected. 2022 happened to be a low snow year. You can resupply right on trail in Tahoe City and at Echo lake (small general store) you can also bus/uber/hike the Van Sickle trail to South Lake Tahoe to resupply too. I resupplied once in Tahoe City and picked up some snacks at the general Store at Echo Lake. Water sources are scarce on the east side of the trail. You can either do long water carries or some people even drop off water caches at trailheads - you might luck out with trail angels dropping off caches too like I did. I used the Farout app, which was super helpful with user comments about the current water sources. Definitely recommend the purchase of the TRT map with them.
@@karahikes thank you that’s very helpful, I want to try do some the full loop but I will do it in sections, it will be sections of Saturday and Sunday about 15-20m each day, so I am not in a hurry. But just concern about water
Saw this pop on my feed. I was one week behind you, going same direction.
This is incredible. The shots, the planning, and the great editing are all inspiring. Enjoy the awesome life you have! Whimpi, Indonesia.
Thank you for the sweet comment. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
What a beautiful route! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Glad you were fine! Decided to pass on it, but if I didn't know about the spill, I would have filtered from the lake.
