This has high school talent show band energy.
All these negative comments
"Oh, he played Dsus4, it should've been D7sus4"
"The drummer went tatatatata, it should've been tataataata"
Pfffft
I'm sure the people at the 2 hr gig had a good time.
If you saw Black Flag back in the '80s, good luck to you. But if Greg wants to still get up on stage and jam, and people want to go and bop around in the crowd, then, cool.
Deal with it. Don't click on the UA-cam link, scroll past.
have a nice day
FLASE FLAG
Excellent comment. Lol
Surprise privilege 👀
What a Bad and creepy Ego Shit of Ginn
Grröööhhhhlll :-)
Lol its just Greg Ginn aint it ?
I think they sound great. People will always hate whatever bursts their idea of what something should be. Just sit back n enjoy the music.
Thanks for this, I was there and wished I'd recorded, brilliant show
Had a chance to see black flag yesterday. After watching this im glad i didn't.
Sounds great . They have gotten a lot better over the last couple years.
I like how turkey-neck stiff-fingers Greg Ginn tortures the audience with a mass amount of bad eccentric jamming till he finally gets to the song that everyone just wanted to hear in the first place - It's like a punk grateful dead concert (but without the acid) - everyone just has to last through the 25 minute bad jam session to finally cash in and sing along to the songs they know have to come at some point.... Ginn is totally punk cause he dont care. "I don't care...What you say anyway"
@@bigdoggpickleyour a little obsessed bro. Bout the 10th time u said that
You are totally RIGHT! :) @@brandonhopkins1106
Can't wait to see the new line up! I love this record.
Big thanks for your upload this
Yaaaaaaawwwwwn
I used to ride Vallelys elephant decks. Saw this version too, it was okayish, saw Henry play BF on the release of that prison album with covers, it was pretty awesome, saw Flag, which killed all of them.
Saw them on Maui a few weeks ago. Amazing show.
Stop lying Ryan - you watched them on UA-cam like everyone else!
Maui, town on Mars or why he cant see it only on You Tube
Just scored tickets for the Vegas show at the house of blues let’s gooooo
The audience on the whole is seemingly friendly, unlike many of the crowds Black Flag performed for throughout the 80s. What’s more, this incarnation of the band is more polished. For all his efforts, Mike Vallely simply can’t match the intensity of Henry Rollins.
Henry was the worst singer they ever had. He couldn't sing at all. Plus his ego ruined the band.
@@johnsambo9379 Yeah, Henry Rollins was always unfairly maligned (case in point).
INSANE THE GIG LAST NIGHT IN BRASIL!!!!!!!
Fui no show de São Paulo, eu ainda não tô acreditando no que vi, kct que show bom
Who cares it’s flag jams live I honestly don’t care just like w all bands
Thinking about going in January...
Same…which is why I came here
But
I know Black Flag has always had different singers, but somehow all of them fit even Dez!
But this guy…ummm
Not so much, like it’s weird right?
Or is it just me, like he’s almost trying hard to be Henry. And with the other guys nobody pretended to be like the other one, that’s why it worked.
Seriously, after the second time seeing this version of BF, they are strong, legit, and massively underrated!!
Saw the real Flag in the 80s, no need for Greg Ginn's Retirement Fund Band
I saw Black Flag in the 70s. Not impressed by the Black Flag of the 80s, poser.
@@joeh952 what about the germs?
@@joeh952 saw black flag in the 60s not impressed with the 70s poser
@@flyersgoon8864 HAHAHAHA.
Exactly.
What’s with valleys little hunch back style looks like a red neck jail bird
its not bad, Mike V. is a legend in his own right. The energy is just not there. Flag (Keith, Chuck, Bill, Steve, Bill and Dez) are super charged.
I saw these guys at my high school talent show in 1988 pretty cool that there still covering black flag 36 years later
It would not be fair to compare them to the energy on the "Live '84" cassette. It was a different time. We as fans were all living a different time. I was in my 12 year old angst filled puberty when I picked up "My War" from Record World in the mall and promptly got my mom to buy me some more BF records for Christmas. I still, to this day can listen to My War front to back and it brings me right back to that amazing time of figuring out my life. I'm so glad they are at least out there playing this stuff for salty dogs like me as well as the next generation that might discover them from these shows. God bless Black Flag!
Just listen to Flag. They shit all over this whatever-it-is version of Black Flag.
i actually saw them last week and i must say they were MUCH better than they are here.
Who the fuck are these guys????? Hahaha......!!!!! The singer actually does a fantastic job at sounding like Rollins.
Impersonating Henry Rollins singing Chuck Dukowski lyrics. He does a great job but it feels like a cover band. Ginn’s prretty great though. They should tour brand new material.
@@chrisfrancz i am not sure about Ginn. He is not going wild on stage like he used. He is barely moving. Also i am not sure about the guitar sound. It sounds kinda polished, not as noisy and aggressive, like he has better equipment or something.
@@Jil8840saw them back in march, and i gotta agree with you about ginn. other than him being old his stage presence has gotten weaker, could hardly tell if hes actually trying to play the songs or not. the random soloing and noodling before almost every song seems kinda unnecessary too. but regardless, it was still cool getting to meet him after the show. i think my friend had asked him about his gear but i forgot what he said
Greg looks like Neil Breen without the just for men
This comment fucks lol good one
I’d love to clown on Mike V for joining this abysmal show but he sounds better than anyone else by far
This is not Black Flag, its a cover band.
A lot of bands pull this shit,Discharge with no Cal or Gary Malony,The Stranglers with only one original member....its very cheeky to claim its the same band it was years ago.
greg ginn looks stoner here than in any bootleg of 80's
After having seen Robo, Emil, Chuck Biscuits, Bill Stevenson and even flash in the pan Anthony Martinez of "WGT10 1/2" fame pound skins behind Master Ginn, homie ain't cuttin it. By a long shot. Do better Greg.
The Greg Ginn Band not Black Flag.
That's not Black Flag its just Greg Gina !
Great and all but without Rollins it's just passable. I've been around long enough to remember when they first came out. BLACK COFFEE DRINK THE BLACK COFFEE.
this performance looks like a budget museum reenactment of what half of the energy of black flag felt and sounded like. might as well just play the records off of youtube.
1 jam kedepan lebih asoyy...
Ginn is almost playing like himself!! - He's Just a little more off rhythm bad timing and forgetting some of the chord progressions he's played for 35 years...Other than that, he's terrible and great at the same time!!! Hard to pull off.
🤔🤔🤔🤔
Does it make anyone upset more than myself that me and perhaps you, play Black Flag songs better than Greg Ginn now? It should…
Indeed. Over the years I've kinda figured out his style too. Bending the lower strings is easy.
@@BFROFFICIAL2024 Ginn has mastered the art of bad guitar playing but now everyone has caught on!
@@bigdoggpickle indeed. I uploaded some short videos with backing music tracks that I think capture his essence of bad guitar playing. I noticed he uses atonal bar chords with half step ascentions.
@@BFROFFICIAL2024 Yes! Tons of atonal and chromatic steps and single notes...He actually created a style that is never taught and should never be taught - It would be like if a chimpanzee was shown how to play guitar for a few days and then you told him to start doing leads and stuff... However, Ginn became a master at this style and his genius was that he never changed it and got better but rather embraced it and has progressively gotten worse! (If that makes sense)
The phrase "Keepin it real" applies to Ginn 100%
Its funny i dont remember you on the top 100 guitarist list in rolling stone@jasondecosta7422
If these Gs could survive in Berkeley, the navel gazing complaint capital of California, these Gs can play Peoria, Des Moines and Decatur. They can play anywhere.
I saw them tonight in Roseville and honestly they were better than the last time I saw them 30 years ago lol.. Mike V has what it takes. Who ever is talking shit, is full of shit.
If anyone suffers from depression or anxiety I highly recommend this cover band for a good laugh!
The guy that wrote like 95% of the songs is on the stage.
@@toke7342 omg really?!
@@toke7342that may be true but clearly Black Flag’s sound was more than just Greg Ginn. Eric Johnson can play with any backing band and still sound like Eric Johnson but this sounds nothing like Black Flag
@@dumpsterrama6571 to me black flag ended in 86. And i like all members of black flag. I'm just saying black flag is greg's band.
I just don’t know why Henry Rollins wouldn’t do a black flag reunion it’s just bogus….BUT this dude killed My War.
Harry Rollings
At least Mike is doing a decent job at singing the Rollins era songs
Feels like watching a black flag cover band in slow motion. Mike Valley had his back to the crowd more than half the time. What a joke
Very hard to watch
Flag "not black flag" did it better with the X members in my opinion.
Yes I was thinking the same thing. I seen FLAG it it sounded exactly like the records with the same energy. This is lackluster..
WOW, 2 hours of Black Flag , great. I like the long beginnig "I Cant decide" , its very good drum feeling for me. Very good !
BUT "FLAG" is more real Black Flag than this. Only one original member play here ..( and BLACK FLAG has many of them.) lol
This is not real BLACK FLAG for me ! Not important for me. .. Punk is mainstream for me.
Only good for young people to socialized them. :-) lol
BLACK FLAG a KILLER PUNKROCKBAND. HISTORY !
It's not that terrible but I still think this is not great.
1. Some of these songs are played WAY too slow. I know Greg is getting old, but there's no reason he couldn't play a song like "Rise Above" at album tempo, it's not even that fast of a song by early BF standards.
2. Mike Vallely, despite being a lifelong athlete, somehow sounds winded the entire time, and doesn't seem to have much range or passion. He also has shockingly weak stage presence, despite his looks.
3. Yes there's errors in the playing but I won't really harp on that, live shows are hard to nail perfectly, and Greg has never exactly cared much for playing complimentary notes and chords, he's always been a weird little noodling freak.
Best Black Flag line up ever!
I don’t know if I should go see them… the energy level is low compared to the 80s… 😢 Greg Ginn used to be more into it when playing…
Call it a different name, like the greg ginn band, that would be more accurate.
MIKE V
Rocking the Cariumas
WTF!!!
this is not Black Flag it's Ginn with 3 pretenders
It's Ginn with his kids that he adopted!! Can't hate on that !
Mike v has earned his stripes. A lot of people like Ron Reyes but Ron gave up mid tour and mike V stepped in and kept black flag alive.
Just Like Dead Kennedys, when they toured without Jello Biafra. What's the point?
Ginn is the Black Flag sound. The band always had rotating members. Like the band, Santana. They had a bunch of different members and singers and Carlos Santana (the guitarist) defined the sound of the band. This singer is great. I wonder how he’d be with brand new material? Probably really good. I’ve been a BF since 1985 and I really want to be critical but am past that. Ginn does what he wants to and I’m cool with that.
@@keithkoenig5320because it's not even remotely comparable in scope or expectation. Jello without DK is nothing Black Flag with just Greg is the expectation.
makes me glad I saw FLAG instead, yikes!
Hard to pull off these kind of shows with today s audience, no real energy being thrown back at the stage, it was always a two way street back in the day, plus no originality from the bands
Sounds so boring
Not boring...just crap
no power@@hackchewspit1956
They even look bored playing even the audience is ZzZzZz
Really dark Brown Flag.
I cant see the point in this other than a money grab.
No.
😞 not my war more like my yawn . Sorry but Keith Morris was the best vocalist for this band
Insanely bad… wow. With the PowerPoint presentation behind them and everything? Had the drummer ever listened to the records?
A cover of "Louie, Louie"?? Ugh...
Louie Louie was a staple cover for alot of punk bands in the late 70's early 80's
It’s almost like Black Flag used to cover the song in the 70s-80s and have even recorded it, crazy right?
Holy cow, this is awful. I can play Greg's songs better than he can!!! 😂/ 😭
Black Fake.
Garbage rather see Keith in flag 1111
This is so awkward and embarrassing.
Is this the gay singer who got mad at a guy crowd surfing? Lol
horrible
Drummer is awful, mike V is awful, Ginn looks like a zombie. Glad I never paid to watch them.
I hope they didn't charge anyone for this. Mike Vallely sucks lol
