Personally I'd have another 6 inches on each 'post' against the wall.
If the walls mortar is good I would drill into that as if you ever remove it you can fill the holes and not damage the brickface.

No problem, this is all made with 2x4 timber. You can buy wood already ripped down, but it's expensive, that's why I recommend buying a table saw because it will save you hundreds. Each post is a metre long, and each striping is 240cm or 2400 mm, depending on where you are in the world. The stain I'm using is medium brown oak.
