This story really makes you think about where you stand in the world, how small you really are, but how big your imagination is, and how far your mind can wander. Just amazing story telling everything about it was amazing
@Kayla Dugger That's an interesting theory. I was mainly thinking about the setup and how strongly the narrator advised to not screw up the ritual, all while explaining there are several variations on how to do the summoning.
I like this idea. No reason he is telling the truth, especially if suicides become new Hitchhikers. I also like the idea that the Hitchhiker simply decided to accept the second question because he connected with the driver during unscripted moments. They had a very personal conversation. It makes him even creepier in some ways because it is a spirit with a personhood, not just an empty ghost running a program. The story describes a being with an inhuman terrifying nature tied inextricably to a human, accessible nature.
I think it's the element of believability it adds, the idea that you can actually observe these spooks if you're able to follow this set of rules. There's a similar believability to good campfire stories, and some of the greentexts from /x/ and /k/.
Grognack appreciates it "Assumed Mortal" not everyone is willing to wish others a good night, and Grognack shall seek to say hello if he sees you in the future.
I loved your reading of this. It sounded like we were actually in the car, listening to the rhythmic movement of the wipers and the distant hum of the radio... I could almost smell the hitchhiker, too. Your readings, and the sounds you add behind it, make it so very real.
I really liked the hitchhiker in the left right game so I especially enjoyed this. I wish there were more! Uber for the paranormal has similar tales like this if you've heard of it!
But in the Left Right game, don't you remember that on *Butter Street* they had to leave a man behind? A black man, to be precise, the husband of the black woman who follows him into the mist her second time around. It's been a minute since I've listened to it, I can't remember their names right now. And did the gravel pit not remind you of the weird tar that took Apollo's car and him with it? Like there's no way it's just a coincidence there's so many similarities between this and the Left Right Game.
I've been dealing with a lot lately, my OCD is killing me again, friend is mad at me, mom is having a bad time at work. Your narrations help me to escape reality for a while, I really appreciate your work. Thanks a lot.
@Emilia Berntsson Whats life to live if it isn't any fun. Whats the point of life with no risk? Just my view on life. Also. Wow. That ending hit me hard. Even after listening to it, if I could do it I would.
@Dredgen yors thorny thorn Yes, we've been watching you from a distance. That time your pentagram wasn't quite finished when you started the ritual, and you fixed it halfway through... You met us that night, you just don't remember it.
This is the type of story I love! Sad and mysterious. It makes me want to cry with the slow piano music in the background at the end but also look over my shoulder to make sure there isn't anything there. Keep these coming! I love to listen to these types of videos when I'm studying!
SPOILER ALERT! My theory is that the spirit took the form of the driver after they die or if they'll become a victim of the ritual. At the ending, the protagonist is wearing what he saw the Hitchhiker wear, and the Hitchhiker was talking about going to see his lady(Abigail). It's like it was giving him a warning about his fate; that he wasn't ready for the truth about Abigail. That's why his image and story changed. He knew exactly what the driver would ask and depending on their question, he'd choose his image, the location and why he was going there. The things the driver thought were unscripted on the Hitchhiker 's side were actually calculated and foreshadowing future victims. Dunno. Just what I think happened.
I agree but tbh I think it's more along the lines of the spirit of the suicide victims. That's why their wet not because of rain but because they decide to drive their car off the cliff and drown. Horrible way to die btw.
Actually I think the hitchhiker was implying that his lady dying is what led him to commit suicide. “I don’t know what I’d do without her.” As for the unscripted part, I think that was the hitchhiker’s way of having a jest at the driver, subtlety acknowledging he knows why the driver is there: because he caused Abigail’s death and wants to know if he’s forgiven. “Can you imagine what that’s like, having your life cut short by the careless act of another?”. That hit alittle close to home for the driver.
I actually am loyal to The Dark Sonmium too, I recommend him to people all the time. There is only one other narrator that has caught my attention at this point but I always get excited to look through TDS channel if I know I have to catch up on videos!!
Just found the channel after getting an itch to listen to r/no sleep or creepy pasta and found the “my sleep paralysis demon is actually a pretty chill guy” and heard the quality shine! So of course I subscribed, keep putting out quality!
@@arkivemusic6941 i loved that one man! i was hoping for a sequel. That one is a must listen for sure. DS has a good voice for this, and it is really well produced!
What an amazing and well written story. The call back to “it’s a bad night for rain” to end it all was just the cherry on top. This combined with your unmatched voice acting made it feel so immersive and real. You’re the best man, please never stop doing this. I don’t mean to diss the other creepypasta narrators because they do a fantastic job as well, but in my opinion you’re like the Tom Brady or creepypasta narrators 🖤
This one hit different and I just want to say I love your narrations you make them feel so much more real with so much more feelings like you are the person in the story
Hauntingly engaging, loved every second of this one. It was... oddly soothing. The sound of being in the car with the rain so close... always going to love your attention to sound design. It adds so much immersion.
I have been listening to creepypastas for well over 5 years regularly and at this point I don't get spooked but your narration sure gives me the feels.
I'm thoroughly surprised this isn't all over the comment section, but a deeper dive and Easter egg into the Left Right Game? I clicked so fast I was shaking with anticipation by the time the video loaded.
I really genuinely do appreciate the effort put into these videos! The music, the sound effects, just amazing! I thank you for letting all of us viewers experience these storys in this way!
I have a theory: I believe that the man performing the drive is the Warden who accidentally killed his wife. I think this is the case as the questions at the end suggest that he was the cause of death and the butter street hitchhiker also said earlier on “Having your life cut short like that due to the careless act of another human being? That’s pretty f'ed up.” IDK just a theory
Dude I love your work, you're pretty much the only narrator that creeps me out without fail. Hope I am not in a bad place the final time I die and leave this earth for the last and final time peace. 2023. JDP Underhill
As always another magical journey through Dark Somniums masterwork narration... After a Dark Somnium video i am left with this melancholy feeling at the end of the story, like I'm standing alone in the vast unknown and realize how insignificant i am.
I started writing 2 original creepypastas recently. They're called, "I have a job with rules to follow. Oh no I broke one.", and "There are rules in a place I'm at. Oh no I broke one." I bet you'll never guess the plot.
So I live in Florida and work the evening into the night shift. Tonight we had a major storm that started a few hours before I got off of work. Due to a tornado warning I stayed a little later than usual at the office. Now I routinely listen to some sort of shortish narration to and from work and tonight was no exception....however I did not realize just how perfect a setting I was in until the car door slammed at the beginning of the ritual maked me jump. I was driving on a back road with basically no street lights, wipers going at roughly the middle speed and I kid not once I noticed this it was exactly 3:15 AM...also take into account that while I have listened to most of Somnium's narrations UA-cam decided that tonight of all nights was the night to recommend this one to me....creepily fantastic!!!!
Your narration is top tier as always, but I’ll admit it’s pretty funny to hear “I ain’t even playing” & “y’know what I’m saying” without a heavy Atlanta accent behind it

My personal headcanon is when he asked two questions at the end he did screw up, and part of the ritual being if you screw up he will lie to you.
Or you become a future hitchhiker yourself, like the ending implies

The whole “scripted unscripted” bit was really good and a lot more terrifying than people finding a list of rules and blatantly disregarding them.
Yeah it was really good. The person knows how to keep you into it all
@@Max-me9xq Yes! The list of rules is not creepypasta at this point, it's COPYpasta. literally the same shit every time
