- Some sad news coming from North-eastern Europe. On the morning of Monday, November 25th, a Boeing 737 freighter traveling from Leipzig, Germany, to Vilnius Airport crashed as it was making its final approach. The aircraft crashed in a suburb next to the airport and fatalities have been reported. We examine the details of this tragic incident for today’s video….

Additional information as it becomes available:
Lithuania’s Commissioner General says terrorism is not ruled out but it is most likely an accident or error.
ATC Recording made public shows that the tower cleared them to 2,700ft. However, the aircraft crew read back 2,300ft- which went unnoticed by tower. ua-cam.com/video/aNksSGsdr88/v-deo.html
It was also reported by media that, prior to the flight to Vilnius, the 737 was parked unused at the Leipzig airport for two days, between November 23 and 24. The aircraft was normally flown every day.
That's some good info! Thanks! And may the souls of the deceased rest in peace.
question is how did they not notice they don't see a runway ? it wasn't foggy on that day so why did they continue approach like that
The pilot read back 2700 as well. It just is muffled and said very fast.
Thank you for the additional very sad info. I've listened to the provided ATC comm. On the one hand reading back the altitude was 400ft too low and also the QNH read back was wrong by 1 hPa (1,020 vs 1,019 hPa), but on the other hand they were also cleared for ILS and they must have been established on the ILS long time before they were close to the ground. Additionally as some locals reported there are no obstacles on final for this runway. I still can't understand it.
@@Jatzki you can clearly hear it's not 2700
Rest in peace to the loss 🕊️

Thats sad news. Rest in peace for all souls lost in this tragedy.
As a latvian, this is some very sad news about our neighbors
It is rare and sad event, however miraculously in dense capital Vilnius city no residents injured and even most of crew survived (according to media). In flightradar data it seems it flew as usual just too low and crashed at Liepkalnis hill. Not clear if some technical difficulties or human error appeared. There were no reports about fire or smoke before accident, at least not such statenments in media, so it is unlikely some intended act.
Hill really? Havent heard or seen that
@@Name-lt2tz Liepkalnis neighbourhood is the one with highest elevation in entire Vilnius.
Another channel reports from the ATC conversation that the QNH altimeter pressure setting and clearance altitude for approach were both read back incorrectly by the pilot and the controller didn’t catch it.
'As usual just too low' ?
@@Name-lt2tz FYI, Liepkalnis literally translates to 'limetreehill'. It's not a mountain but it's a hilly location (highest point in city)
so disturbing to me, i was standing in that plane a week ago loading it up and now it crashed
Also
I was checking in at Vilnius airport when this crashed and didn't hear anything, I was very surprised to only hear about it once I'd landed in Luton. Our flight was delayed but the pilot just said due to an incident with the fire brigade.😳 crazy times. R.I.P to the pilot.
@gee3883 I would guess they didn't want to panic the travelers that were at the airport waiting for a flight. People can be unreasonable in tense situations.
@jasonpolsinelli6932 I was thinking more about the sound of the impact. I wouldn't have expected them to tell us the full story for the reasons you listed .
This is actually very sad. Even if it was just one person who died, I could only imagine how the family members felt about it. I hope they are ok!
Night flying, disrupted sleep patterns, long hours, a moments loss of concentration...Not the first freight plane this has happened to
I wonder if that was the cause of the nighttime crash of a Lockheed Super "H" Constellation freighter at Midway Airport in Chicago in 1959. The aircraft had an engine malfunction on takeoff and the flight engineer quickly shut it down and feathered the prop. The crew turned the "connie" around to return to Midway. On final approach just blocks from the end of the runway for some reason the airplane just dove towards the ground flying into an occupied apartment building. All three crew members on the Constellation were killed and I believe 13 people were killed in the apartment building.
Flying at night even in the daytime, is like watching a UA-cam video. Your eyes start to shut because you're staring at a sky, like a phone screen. It makes you tired and sleepy. This is what probably happened.
@@static_Tricolor_camry Not at all, a plane was on fire before crash.
@@static_Tricolor_camry come on they don’t “fly” the airplane in the sky it’s on autopilot . they were just given the wrong frequencies and all that stuff
@@claudian6257 Autopilot is a temporary mode.
In other videos, it can be seen that the plane neither is on fire nor is there any visible explosion before touching the ground. I'm surprised that no one in the news I've seen so far has considered the possibility that the cargo could have shifted during the steep 180-degree turn during the approach. This is a major concern that always accompanies cargo aviation.
There was no 180 deg turn in any vicinity to site. I'm planespotter.
There is CCTV footage that shows the plane nose titl uwards sharlpy right before it hits the ground. Perhaps some failure or pilot error.
Listen to the ATC comms on other vids - huge clue in incorrect descent readback.....
@@antasosam8486Not during the landing but on approach. The flight path on flightradar24 shows that the plane passed north of Vilnius , coming from the south west and there were two steep turns, one was performed over "Peclukai" for heading the runway in north east direction.
@@RA76951 Ah okay. Thank you for this very sad info. Haven't found any ATC comms before posting my first comment.
I’m so shocked to hear this news.
respect and RIP😢🕊️
Thank you for your quick Report 💪🏻
Its a shame, the plane started here in germany and our Security Systems had failed.
This must not happen!
Sad in Hearing That... RIP... ✈️
People are bashing on boeing, they literally had nothing to do with this, this is a 734, pretty old, over 30 years old i believe? Boeing has no responsibility for those old planes anymore, so please just be quiet and respect the victims
737,not 734 isn't it though? 737s are used widely still by economic airlines in Europe
@@Vegan_Vlogs a 734 is a short way of saying 737-400, boeing has no responsibility over such old planes since they don't make them anymore
@@Plab1402 thank you for the explanation. I'm not one of the people saying "of course it's a Boeing" by the way, just genuinely wanted to understand better
@@Vegan_Vlogs it's fine! Learning new things every day can make you wiser on what your going to say in the future
Age likely had nothing to do with this crash. It’s more likely that it stalled due to pilot error, overweight or load shifting.
Rest in peace 🙏
Hmm. I think a listen to ATC comms regarding this may hold the biggest clue, with in incorrect descent readback which went unnoticed by the controller.......
Are ATC comms publicly available?
wrong frequency and wrong altitude.
They were on an ils I believe which would technically give true readings for required glide path. Rip to the pilot and best wishes to crew. It will be interesting to see the report but cannot speculate this soon
I listened and didn't even catch anything different- will re-listen again! Thank you for pointing this out
What a sad news….
People are going to compare this to the 737 Max now

Ridiculous sentiments. It's all very well coming up with this gibberish, but where in that case was your made-up god at the critical moment prior? Hmm? "Saviour" is a bit of an exaggeration to say the least.
_"...with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."_
God specifically warned against worshiping false saviors such as Jesus:
"Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior."
(Isaiah 43:10)
"Thou shalt know no God but me, for there is no savior other than me."

@2:17 What a beautiful airport. And it has a drive-thru! Never seen anything like it. 😮
that drive thru has been closed because a new departure terminal was built which will open at the start of next year!

it is cargo
@@algita8 It's still Boing 737, what about crews?
@@Kshahdoo67 probably two sets of pilots or two pilots, engineer and loadmaster
@@Kshahdoo67the „explosion“ happens where the fuel is, the crew sits in the very front. As long as they manage to get out in time they’re good. Hitting that residential building is a much bigger danger to them than the fuel explosion
Sad news indeed, however there was no need to point a finger at Russia without any source to back up the claim.
Whu else can you point to? 😂😂😂
That was a huge explosion don't know how anyone survived that
We didn't see or hear anything about an onboard fire prior to the crash. It appeared in the surveillance videos to be a controlled flight into terrain. We won't know much more until the CVR and FDR are found and reviewed. Fortunately, the other pilot survived. They may be able to shed more light on the cause of the accident.

Firstly, that was an old aeroplane. Secondly, I'm fairly sure that Russia's FSB doesn't need to rehearse acts of aviation sabotage. Prigozhin's demise indicates that they're pretty good at it.
Prigozhin's demise occurred exactly 2 months after the failed mutiny, which shows it was no coincidence...

in some other videos it's visible that at the last moment pilot tries to raise the nose - that's when they lose lift and right wing stalls...

I'm going to guess ice on wings.
Wind shift.

Putin did it? That's a pretty lame angle.
Since Europe said any fatalities of Boeing aircraft they will revoke Boeing airworthiness, I guess they can do that now.
