Family isn't necessarily who shares your DNA but who you choose to love and love you back. As I listen to the song, I thank my adoptive parents who took a broken, wounded boy into their lives and transformed him into a good educated young man they know me today.
It was a movie that teaches us about to be proud of our identity by lookin at them through an open eyes & mind. Especially if u company this movie with Spirit: Stallion
As an Indonesian and Sundanese , I'm proud growing up listening to this song in my childhood. *This song clearly shows a 3S teachings in Sundanese literature:* 1.Silih Asuh: Caring for each other no matter what 2.Silih Asih: Always giving love, respect and affection to each other 3.Silih Asah: Always strenghtened our bond ,relationship, and *Brotherhood* with other human and mothernature.... *God, I think I got a perfect and a lot of co-incidences throught my life..😭😊😇🙏🙏🇮🇩🇮🇩*
I like how the people who are singing this song represent the perspective of the characters during the Salmon Run scene. The Blind Boys of Alabama are represented by all the bears in the salmon run, they are letting Kenai know that every bear is WELCOME to join their party and feel right at home. And then it switches to Phil Collins, representing Kenai, that he is starting to feel comfortable around the bears and feel like he is where he belongs. Throughout the entire movie, Kenai has been so anxious to turn back into human and go home, but as Kenai continues to explore the Salmon Run, he realizes he already is home. Because when it gets to the shot where Kenai pops out of the water, observes all the bears and smiles, you can tell on the look on his face he no longer sees the bears as monsters but as family.
This is the last song I listened to with my dog King before he passed away. He was a black Labrador Retriever. He wasn't a pet. He was my brother. Rest in peace King. #RIPKing #BlessYourSoul😭😭🙏🙏✝️✝️
I accidentally made my aunt cry with this song. I asked people to share a song that makes them think of me and I would do the same back. I sent her this and she lost it. Apparently, she had never seen the movie, so I assume she looked at the lyrics in a different way. Not gonna lie, trying to see it though her eyes now, I feel a little weepy myself.
I hated this movie when I was a kid, but now I love it! Love, family, brotherhood. And I love the part were those we’ve lost are watching over us from above as animals! I just love that, they never leave us!!
My childhood I even heard that there making a live action remake of brother bear and I hope that Phil Collins is still singing the songs and the soundtrack is still as catchy
Came here in part because I love this song so much, but to also to wonder what the heck these Disney podcast hosts I listen to were thinking when they said they’d wished Phil Collins had sang all the songs himself. I like Collins a lot, but not even he could bring the natural warmth this group does, making it feel like a song you’d actually hear at a family reunion instead of another Phil Collins song. I dunno, personally I’m just glad they went this route is all.
I'm crying right now bc its been tough for me for 5 year and now everything in my life is perfect..im so thankful and this song just showed me I didnt my best in life and I made it
I still crack up at Schaff calling this a Barney song. Ironically, I actually love it, despite it being a bit cheesy. But to each their own. I think it's great! Also, the way they say brotherly is epic! Gives me chills every time!
I played brother bear for my family they loved it lol, I forgot how much I liked this movie.. god bless y’all acting I happen to be loving just my family...
Fun Fact: 2 years after this movie came out the 50th anniversary aka the biggest anniversary year was right out of the corner so for Walt Disney Parade Of Dreams they reuse/re sung this song just for the parade with some lyrics removed!
The maker of this song is Phil Collin, who also directed the songs in Tarzan like "Two Worlds One Family". So, that's probably why the theme/aesthetic may be similar in these two soundtracks. :)
Me; just sings Welcome to our family time welcome to our brotherly time This is our festival You know it best of all At random times and only those 4 lines because that's all my Brain likes to chant
Wanted to leave a comment herr so I can remember this day forever. So when I was in 4th grade I participated in welcome function playing at this song in my school and it was a group of 12 kids.it was supposed to be 10 dancing/making moves with the song+ they were wearing blue and the other 2 comes in the 2:00 part and hold a very big 'welcome' poster with one side each and doing some movements while holding the poster plus wearing red color, at first I was in blue team but my teacher said you don't know how to dance and kept saying u are loser so she let me in the red team of poster, at first I was so mad but on function day when we performed, blue team started and all audience was off and bored but when me and my other mate came and held the poster at the 2:00 part of the song everyone started shouting and hyping and big party poppers starts blowing i was shocked that we both were the main part in this performance after we done we got the first position as best performance and all were talking about how teacher precisely chose these 2 red dressed girls they were the star of the show, I was so happy and boosted my zero confidence, so moral of the story just be patience and it will be rewarded.

it was such BS that critics gave this amazing movie bad reviews cause this movie was teaching the meaning of forgiveness and what brotherhood means
This movie created an unbreakable and immeasurable bond I have with my brother
I watched it when it came out on vhs and thought it was another instant classic.
I saw either different perspectives or that family isnt just blood its loyalty as the message
I know right
Ohhh.

What I love about this song is that it has a good rhythm and it teaches Kenai about the life of a bear from an amazing point of view.
