  • In this video we take a look at some Snipe Nose Pliers from Stahlwille. This purchase was two-fold. First, it allows me to further explore Stahlwille's lineup and second, it fills a void in the needl nose lineup. While I love the Channellock 318s, they are a big, bulky pair of pliers. While that has strengths, it also comes with limitations due to the size. The NWS pliers were purchased at a really low price and offer up a longer reach. My hope is that the Stahlwille pliers will fill the void for space constraints...a smaller pair would likely be ideal, but I felt these were a good compromise.
The finish is outstanding and their comfort grip is actually very well done. The pliers feel great in hand, are easy to articulate right out of the packaging, and grip quite well. While these could be used in a pinch to turn fasteners, the use I anticipate is retrieval of wayward fasteners, clips, and pins. If you do a lot of carb work, you know first hand how easy things can fly off, and drop down between runners on the intake manifold. The cutters are a nice addition and will pair well with my intended usage. I'm also hoping these have a small enough profile to handle some under dash work like pulling/holding wires...I suppose a smooth jawed plier would be best for that, but until funds allow I think we have a very solid addition to the tool box.
You can pick up a pair of these Snipe Nose pliers here---Also note, you can tweak the part number to change finish, grips, and of course the overall length.

For anyone who doesn't know, VBW make Stahlwille pliers. It's sometimes cheaper (not always) to buy the same pliers branded VBW. Worth checking price on both before buying. Great vid.

Thanks for the insights! I knew Stahlwille was more acclimated to the torque side of things...I will check out VBW. I haven't used these a ton, but they are a really nice tool, grab and cut great, and the articulation right out of the bag was top notch!

Hey man, great vid. So I ran into a coworker the other day that was using some Witte "Maxxpro Plus" screwdrivers,(rebranded as Matco), and I must say that the ergonomics of them are excellent (of course, just being my opinion). He had also had them for 4 years and the tips were basically flawless. I was instantly comvinced and just purchase a 6 pc set. I really encourage you to buy one and see what you think (make sure they are the "maxxpro plus" variant. You can get crazy leverage with the handle style. One thing I dont like about them is that they dont have the hex bolster, nor do they offer a set with that feature, or a striking cap for that matter.
    Keep up the great vids,
    Nolan

Funny you'd mention that. Witte does quite a few rebrands. At work there is a 1990s Lawson screwdriver they made that I believe would be in the Maxxpro Plus line. Very unique drivers! My only Witte right now is the cheaper ProTop. I have been eyeing their cork ones...they look like the Maxxpro, but have actual cork. Their sets are pretty good values, but individually they are priced pretty high..I will try to bring one in. Oh, and by the way...you might be interested in this: www.kctoolco.com/witte-63502-2-x-100mm-maxxpro-plus-phillips-screwdriver-hexagon/ ;)

@@lonestarmopars I agree about the Witte handles being very comfortable. Comparable to the Snap-On tri-lobe Instinct handles. I've got the cork insert MaxxPro Nature set on order now. I think it'll do well with oily/wet hands. The MaxxPro Plus line is like the Wiha Pico Finish. It's a flocked insert gives great grip.

Check out the Facom 440 wrenches, they are the best wrenches I've used. Also like to look at them :). They feel great in the hand. I think they are definitely up your ally. I really enjoy the reviews!

I've been interested in Facom wrenches. They have some interesting designs and I believe they are a French company in the Black and Decker-Stanley Group, but they are not stamped "Made In France" that I can see. I'm not sure where they are made. I would like to know some more about Facom wrenches they do look good.

I pulled the wrenches up and they look really good...The bigger thing is they are "440." I checked and found that 440 is actually stamped. If you've only watched the tool videos on the channel, you might not know I'm a big Mopar guy and I hold the 440 CID Engine in VERY high regard! I've enjoyed my Stahwille's, but I think I may try the 440s as I still definitively prefer box end wrenches.

Ever considered a career as a DJ, radio announcer, or host? If not, you'd do well.

I have had quite a few people tell me that...I had actually considered being a DJ part time in college, but the local stations didn't offer night shifts, lol.
