you just defined my musical preferences in one single video
Every band is so important in this video. so much love.
i saw the Jesus and Mary Chain live in Chicago in 2017. Talk about staying power. Love these bands.
How are My Bloody Valentine not in the video? They're Irish but unlike The Pixies and Sonic Youth MBV were part of the UK scene.
Sonic Youth and Pixies are from the states.
+Thomaspwgy ..and Nick Cave..!? :O (Ok - he's not from the states!, but still..! :O )
And Big Black
Sugarcubes aren't from the UK either.
No. Don´t lie. sonic young and the picnics are from britain
spacemen 3 and sonic youth are gods...
Well said Jim, there is no one better
Cocteau Twins were more important and not on this list ....
GREAT BEST EVER
2:58 ...while Johnny Marr went on to play with The "Pretendes"....error 404: i think they mean The Pretenders.
I didn't know the singer of The Pixies was named Charles (!)
The Uk Indie music from 1980-1989 (or better 1977-1988) was called New Wave
i think you're right to make that difference ...
To be honest I agree with you because i don't like the new wave, but even if i loved this music, i would make the difference between the 80's sound and the 90's sound (that gently take off in 1987 , with Gun Club's "Mother Juno" for instance, and then Jane's addiction, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies ... then smashing pumpkins ... anyway not new wave any more !)
@@recorr New Wave was a very broad term. The end of New Wave was around 1988 while the most interesting music dates before 1985.

Pixies and Sonic Youth are American bands
I’ve gone over and over Alan Mcgee’s bit and I still don’t know which band he picked up supporting The Primitives?! At least I think he said whoever they were that they were was supporting The Primitives?? Can anyone tell me who he signed?!
6:55secs *Jason & Pete pinned & ' on the nod'
no cocteau twins, ride, mbv, slowdive???... i don't know.
Mozza and Edwyn Collins are the most articulate
COME HERE AND DO AS YOU'RE TOLD
🖤🖤🗡️
No Television personalities?
日本で放送した番組??日本語字幕ついてる。
What? almost all of them are major label money makers!!! This is not the real uk indie.
nick cave is AUSSIE YEAH... not english
Pretty much the same thing. Not only that, but he formed his band in the UK.
@@chocomanger6873 Not sure many English people consider Australians "pretty much the same". :) And it's not clear to me that The Bad Seeds were especially tethered to England at conception, apart from Barry Adamson's involvement by the time of the first LP. (The Birthday Party were *obviously* not formed in the UK so I can only imagine you're talking about the Bad Seeds.)
means, just before it became good ...
Nope.
Not.1980 is independent
If when Edwyn Collins says his music exists in a vacuum, he means it sucks, that is correct.
God. I went to school with a person who was really into this generally self-indulgent indie shite (that achieved moments of memorable musicality, of course). Now he's lead music critic for the Grauniad - and is still totally up himself, twenty+ years later.
Wankers.
ludocrat sound bitter to me
Never heard of 'The Wedding Present' in my life, and I know all these groups. Shite band
Shoe gazing crap, half these "artists" aren't capable of stringing together two sentences.
