I’ll tell you, I was a Green Bay fan since Bart Star, I became a Raider because Ken Stabler and I’ll be a Raider until my last day just because Ken Stabler, long live The Snake 🐍
I was a huge fan of Stablers as a kid. It broke my heart when they traded him to Houston. I’ve never really forgiven the team. I love the Raiders but I always feel that knife in my back.
I couldn't stand the Raiders, but that being said, somehow Ken Stabler was my favorite QB. Still is. :) RIP Snake 🐍
Well said, Pedro -GO RRRRRRRRRRRRRAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😊😊😊
Well said cardboard. GO RRRRRRRRRRRRRAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
I'm still a Green Bay fan for life, but I loved this Raiders team. Stabler was the man.
Ken Stabler should be in the Hall of Fame! He was an excellent QB, probably better than almost all QBs today. The Raiders were one of my favorite teams. They had so many amazing players and even had QBs Stabler and Blanda at the same time. I watched this game live so I know what I was doing on October 27, 1974. That was one of the most exciting games ever!
I thought Stabler got inducted into the HOF?
Those years, he was a raider by blood, he was playing with claws, Stabler (RIP) one of the best the NFL has ever had
I got tears in my eyes hearing Bill King again. The Greatest play by play man in sport’s history. Man was I lucky to hear most of his work.
Holy Toledo
I was listening to a Warrior game as a young teenager back in the mid seventies when Bill described a certain reff he despised. ‘That man is the walking embodiment of incompetence “
King was King
We were blessed in the 1980s in Los Angeles to have our choices of sports voices RIP all: Vin Scully (Dodgers); Chick Hearn (Lakers); and Bill King (Raiders).
HOLY TOLEDO!!!
I was a major Raider fan who grew up in Santa Rosa Calif. Santa Rosa was where the Raiders had their training camp.
My best memory as a Raider fan was when I was a young solder stationed in Germany. In January of 1977 I was put on guard duty at a NATO ammo storage facility up in a tall tower with barbed wire around the ammo storage. . It was around 12 midnight when I smuggled a transistor radio and listened to the Raiders win their first super bowl on armed forces radio. I was up in that tower yelling and cheering in the dark when the Raiders scored mutible touchdowns. What a memory. Some of the guys in my platoon were Viking fans. It was nice seeing their faces when I got back to the barracks.

Thank you for your service! And being a raider fan !
Your memory and experience is heartwarming. My original memory of the snake was playing NFL street as a kid and he was the best qb in the game. Does not compare to your story at all but that’s so badass you experienced that. I too am a veteran and I wanted to say thank you for your service brotha
The Snake- The Uncle we all wished we had. Bless his heart and soul.
Kenny Stabler is my great uncle. This is just amazing
Godspeed to your Great Uncle a legend of our favorite game...that's amazing...thank you for watching & commenting...more Snake in queue.
He was just awesome. He made me love the Raiders and football. Will always remember his playing and loving his hair peeking out of the back of his helmet.
"Uncle Snake" wow really cool
When I was a little kid I idolized your uncle I'm left-handed like him and when I play football my friends I'll tell me I played just like he did same style it was my life's dream to meet him I'm sorry about your uncle's passing it was much too soon
And also I was furious when I started calling Jake plumber the snake he was not
Kenny will always be my favorite QB
Me too , my all time favorite
I really like watching these highlights. Thats when REAL football was played.
Grass fields, no gloves, no replays, less penalties, no hugging after the game, just hard old fashioned football. Best football will always be from 1965 till early 80s in my opinion.
I was 9 years old and was a Miami fan. But ever since the sea of hands game I've been a Raider fan because of ken stabler. He threw the most catchable ball ever. Would just float right into receiver hands !
Very accurate passer
I was a Raider fan because of Daryl Lamonica's Nick name. Stable took us to the next level. His offensive line gave him so much time. Great years!
Ya the mad bomber Darrel!
Daryl "The Mad Bomber" Lamonica.
Ricky - I became a raider fan, becuz of SNAKE STABLER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
my favorite era of football. madden didn’t wear a headset and was almost a player. amazing catches and throws, always working the sides. montana was also a great era, poise under pressure.
Well I'm from Augusta, GA.....I have been waiting on the falcons all my life but because of Kenny I have always been a Raider, I was in my teens during these years and the OAKLAND RAIDERS I was proud to say I loved so much, GOD bless Kenny Stabler and the OAKLAND RAIDERS ....
One of the Greats! He knew how to win football games! I watched him for years as a kid. He was exciting to watch week after week.
RIP Kenny Stabler
there was no other quarterback like THE SNAKE. his abilities were phenomenal and historic. THE BEST QUARTERBACK THE OAKLAND RAIDERS EVER HAD. he is the reason the oakland coliseum got its name THE HOUSE OF THRILLS. from time to time god blesses us with an athlete like ken stabler. SNAKE, to all oakland raiders fans you will be missed from the bottom of our hearts. thank you for all the great games and for being an oakland raider. 😔
When Ken Stabler needed 3 or 4 yards for a first down, Mark van Eeghen ( the fullback ) would provide that with a strong effort.
They will always. ...be the OAKLAND raiders to me. No matter where their home field is
Me too, Marty, Good evening, and welcome to the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, where today THE OAKLAND RRRRRRRRRRRRRAIDERS WILL TAKE ON THE HATED PITTSBURGH STEELERS AND T BRADSHAW. 1 SATURDAY IN MARCH/82, JUST B 4 MADAME X WAS GONNA DROP THE BANDIT. I WAS WORKING THE TARANNA SPORTSMAN'S SHOW AND BRAD WAS UP, REPPING REDMAN CHEWING TOBACCO. SATURDAY, WE HAD A LONG LINE UP TO GET BRAD'S AUTOGRAPH. I WAS KEEPING THE KIDS IN LINE, AND BRAD SAYS TO ME, HEY RAIDER, CAN WE TAKE A BREAK. SURE, BRAD. OK KIDS, TERRY IS GONNA TAKE A BREAK, BUT WE WILL BE BACK. SO WE GO UP TO THE REPS LOUNGE. WE R GETTING SETTLED IN, ORDERING A ROUND OR 2, AND I SAY TO BRAD, TERRY, WHAT'S IT LIKE GETTING HIT BY 2 TALL JONES AND HARVEY MARTIN AT THE SAME TIME? I LOOKED AWAY AND BAM, BRAD SMACKS ME IN THE BICEP, A D I FALL OFF MY CHAIR. TERRY LOOKS DOWN AND SAYS MULTIPLY THAT BY 3 TIMES AND THATS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE. OWWWWWW, EVERYBODY WAS KILLING THEMSELVES LAFFIN' SPECIALLY MY BOSS,HAHAHA, RAIDER, BRAD GOT U HUH? NOT AS BAD AS THE RRRRRRRRRAAAAAIIIIDDDDERRRRS R GONNA GET HIM, THIS YEAR. HAHAHAHA 😊😊😊😊😊
Damn right
@@michaellauletti6552they never should've left Oakland
My favorite player of All-Time. I’ve got 2nd highest graded Stabler card collection on PSA’s set registry. 100’s of raw cards and memorabilia in my game room. Wish they played these vintage games on TV more often. Thanks for sharing.
Good for u, Cheddah😊😊😊😊😊
The first NFL play I can remember watching live was the Holy Roller, at my uncle's house when I was 9 years old, which is when The Snake became my favorite player. I never grew out of him, and no one ever replaced him as my favorite in 55 years.
Awesome memory. How could Snake not be your favorite player after that. Thank you for sharing & watching.
man that Oakland line could pass block nobody got a sniff of Stabler when he dropped back
noticed how trim the guys were back then, moved quickly---bunch of fat slugs now
The Alabama Trio: Stabler threw 194 TDs and 222 INTS. Reminds one of Namath 173 TDs and 220 INTs. By contrast, Bart Starr: 152 TDs and 138 INTs.
Bart Starr the original game manager.
But in his Oakland years Stabler was 150 TDs and 143 INTS. He fell of dramatically after he left. Well he was 35 by then.
Correct! Roll Tide.
I will never forget it absolutely extraordinary
I grew up in Chicago but was never a bears fan. When as a kid we would be out playing football till 3:00 in the afternoon. Come home for dinner time and who was on the 3:00 game the OAKLAND RAIDERS!!!!
Thanks for putting this together. R.I.P Snake.
5:07-27...a "Cliff-hanger" battle ensues when Raider Cliff Branch "facial" spikes the Browns' Cliff Brooks. As the years went by, Branch would refrain from spiking the ball; oftentimes, he simply tossed it to the official after scoring a TD. One of the best ever, "Speed Kills-21"! R.I.P.
R.I.P. Ken Stabler
practically the entire offense of the 1977 superbowl 11 champion OAKLAND RAIDERS team are in the HALL OF FAME. COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE. not just a team slogan at that time but a way of playing football.
Long live Ken Stabler The Snake 🐍
In that 1976 playoff game against the New England Patriots, the Snake had a huge touchdown in the closing minutes that won the game.
Wish I could "pin' every comment..love football fans like this...thank you everyone for watching & liking & subscribing.. much more coming soon...Go Raiderrrrs!!!
That is 1 of my favorite pix ever - SNAKE and JOHN MADDEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😊😊😊
Watching my childhood.....
Like watching your hair fall out.
I still remember watching the Monday night game where Stabler broke his leg in the early 80s, ending his football career.
I'M A KANSAS CITY CHIEF FAN! BUT I'LL TELL SOMETHING THAT KEN STABLER IS ( ONE BAD MAN ) WITH SECONDS LEFT HE THROW A DAGGER! AND THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE! I REMEMBER HIM, THROWING THESE PASSES TO CLIFF BRANCH! BEUTIFUL!
R.I.P. John Madden
Love it when they spike the ball on the defender.
When Quarterbacks were tough.
The Raiders were 115-42 between 1963 and 1974. Imagine that. A Raiders team that actually WON games.
Stabler would complete 90% of his passes in today’s game with today’s rules. That’s how great he was
Exactly. Back then there were hit squads to knock QBs out of the game. Players were even given bounties if they succeeded in badly injuring QBs. Today’s QBs couldn’t even play back then. They are so protected and pampered they’d probably all just fall to the ground crying for their mommies if they played in that era. I bet the 60s, 70s & 80s QBs would have even better stats if they played now.
@@MovieMakingMan Exactly. The goal back then for every defense in every game was to knock the QB out of the game and if it was a divisional game they tried to knock the QB out for the season. I remember when the Cleveland DE picked up Bradshaw and spiked him on his head knocking Bradshaw out for half of the 76 season
@@randyhanson4973Turkey Joe Jones, Terry took a lotta hard hits from Cleveland
@randyhanson4973 Joe Jones did that, I remember that one! Browns fans Hate the Steelers, still do even more 😆
I really hope they never post the "Sea of Hands" full game here on YT. I would wind up watching the whole game every single day...and I don't have the time!
Great story teller too.
The divisional playoff game against Miami took such a toll on Oakland. No wonder Pittsburgh rolled them the following week.
NO ONE had the swagger, the vibe, the cool that Snake had....Can you imagine if he was able to watch a KC game in 2024? He'd say "what the hell is that skinny kid doing running around like that then lobbing the ball underhand"?
Ahhh yes, the Stabler and Plunkett days.
I miss those days when the Raiders were basically a bunch of Hells Angels in jerseys. 👍💪👏🤜👊
This was football unlike this crap today
I am a big Ken Stabler fan because he did the only thing that matters. WIN.
Gotta love all the ball spiking into the opponents.
GOD ... I WANTED THE CHARGERS
Stabler highlights but just as much Cliff Branch highlights. They were a phenomenal tandem that year. 60 receptions, 1092 yards, 18.2 ypr 13 TDs. In 1975 he had 50.893-17.5-9, and in 1976 it was 46-1111-24.2-12.
Cliff Branch was exceptional lived when he spoke the football 🏈
Hated the RAIDERS of the seventies!! But the SNAkE was the man!!
Sensational. Player
When watching old clips of 70 s n 80 s the refereeing was completely atrocious with the calls n non calls for EVERY team. Instant replay would've helped. RIP snake, Madden, branch ,Davis etc
The 1974 season for the 12-2 Raiders was a balloon that burst: letting the Steelers score 3 TDS in the 4th quarter of the AFC Championship.
The Raiders let that one get away
@@aarondigby5054 That was a sweepstakes give away.
If old enough to remember,Snake was seen in the bar at 2am the night before the super bowl.Raiders
Your so right.ha ha
When football was Football ..
The Snake hooked the Fish
I am from Augusta , GA...don't laugh but my team was/,is the Falcons , but my love for the OAKLAND RAIDERS was obviously obvious, Kenny has always been my favorite QB of all time by far and the 2 super bowls in 80 and 83 with the raiders were so awesome , I had my friends paying me off at halftime on the Raiders- Redskins 83 Superbowl... I simply loved the Oakland raiders so much, I'm 64.....teen coming up in the 70s...there was no one like the OAKLAND RAIDERS...
Stabler to Biletnikoff on the come back. Money in the bank.
I was at "The Holy Roller Game".
There is a conspiracy theory that the Raiders always had two opponents, the other team and the refs. Pete Rozelle always hated Al Davis and had it in for him and his team....
Well I remember a game the raiders had and I can’t remember who they were playing but there was a sort of fumble that they advanced down the field by tossing the ball and kicking it down field and it was called a flumble by the refs, it was comical to watch but the Raiders got possession of the ball after the refs decided what to call the play
@@williambragg5064 Holy Roller against the Chargers in 1978 season, was not a playoff game and didn;t amount to much....
Exactly right! And they are still doing it to this day !
Your so right
Two things baffle me about Ken Stabler. One is the fact that he
led Alabama in 1966 to an undefeated season, but Alabama
finished 3rd in the polls behind ND, and Michigan State. The
other thing is why did it take 4 years for him to start as an NFL
quarterback? The Immaculate Reception game is what got him
noticed. That is just my observation. It is like he came out of
nowhere, and after that, good things started to happen for
Oakland. There is so much pressure for these QBs today to
succeed. Not Stabler. He still read the playbook by the light of
the Jukebox. I can't imagine what he would do today. I only know
that he would probably put the Raiders in the playoffs the same as
he did in the 70s.
With pinpoint accuracy, Snake will take you to Victory. Best of the best Alabama quarterbacks.
The snake’ was entertaining g as hell and led a roster packed with NFL legends on both sides of the ball. Add Madden at the helm and it was magic. I was a Raider fanatic ( Bears too) .
I remember Madden pacing nervously on the sidelines when I watched a Raiders game. It always looked like he was on the verge of a heart attack. He did indeed have a stomach ulcer that brought about his retirement from coaching.
Holy Toledo
What a team! LONG LIVE THE SILVER & BLACK!
😊 Clutch. To. The. Max. Fantastic. Player
I can’t believe it took so long for the HOF to induct him…
Most. Accurate. Ever
I shure miss those days. Real tough players and talented, and it was a break from everyday grind . Sit down with family and friends . Life was good. Compared to insanity today. I dont watch any sports. In fact, dont even care.
Nobody had more fun playing the game than Ken Stabler, Sure it was a business even back then but Snake was the quarterback of what Al Davis told him "The keys to a Cadillac " and Snake drove the hell out of it.
Al Davis told Snake that to imply, "It's not you, it's the talent around you." Stabler responded quickly, "Al, even a Cadillac needs someone to steer it in the right direction."
I never understood Al Davis' lack of appreciation of his two greatest players (you can put them in any order you want), Ken Stabler and Marcus Allen.
Men playing a man's game.
❤The. Snake
In. 1976 snake completed. 66 .percent of. His. Passes. With. 27. Tds
Ah.... when NFL was fun!
The Snake!!!
Announcers were never better 😂
The Raiders first receiver in franchise history to get to 60TDs was TE!..
That tells U something !
Better than Bradshaw, Greise, or Staubach. In the 4th quarter he was magical. Especially with 2 minutes left in the game and needing to score. None better in the '70s.
At 16:50-Fans sitting down? When do the fans ever sit down?
Branch was a hand full. Casper was a brute. Stabler looks like he chewed cud. What could go wrong.
💯🖤💯🖤
Stabler was awesome. Of all the guys in nfl history I'd like to have a few beers and shoot the shit with, he's right at the top. RIP legend!
Shouldve made. The. Hof in the 1990s
Only. Took. Him. 150. Games to reach 100 wins
I don't watch the GARBAGE that nfl football has become.... I prefer to watch over and over REAL FOOTBALL on youtube...
Those Steelers - Raiders games were BRUTAL with HARD HITS......
70's Football for EVER....
Steelers
Raiders
Dolphins
Cowboys
Vikings
Oilers
Cincinnati
etc...
Great physical teams...
Let's overcome the fan approval of quarterbacks. Let's just get over it.
The “Snake” Stabler should of won more than one Super Bowl in Oakland but those early years the Steelers and Dolphins were just better
That Immaculate Reception thwarted the Raiders momentum.
Loved the snake, but it d I sent change the fact that he was average at best. Below average at the overall career.
I can’t stand HOT SAUCE!
Stabler should have never won a Super Bowl. That bogus roughing the passer call against New England is the only reason he won 1.
NIce to hear highlight films without all that rap crap
Inducted posthumously. Disgusting.
the raiders will never win in las vegas.
Already went to the playoffs in vegas so......
Starr was average. Stabler was average. Namath was average. Elway was below average. Marino was great. Bradshaw was average or below. Dawson was good. Get my point. Quarterbacks in the hall are average at best. Let's get over the fact that quarterbacks are regulated to the hall just because.
What a poor evaluator of QBs you are. Must have been born after 1980.
Looking back on his career, he just wasn't that good. Even back in his college career.
Denial is a powerful drug.🙄🙄🙄
Kenny LOVE you
these were the ultimate games. this film itself, should tell u how good stabler/branch really were.
I loved it when the Snake set up a San Francisco a sports reporter down in Foley Alabama and had him thrown in jail . The guy never would get off Kenny's back and was writing bullshit about him. Snake played him and told him to come to Alabama and he could write a story about him. He set him up. It was great. The reporter was so glad to get out of Alabama and said he would never go to the south again 😂😂
I am63 years old seen some great Qbs but only the snake fir me with only 2 minutes re
, manning always
