Body Piercing & Tattooing regardless i am proud of you king. i also got my lip pierced yesterday and i am loving it so thank you very much keep the energy flowing my guy 🖤
searched up a few things was thinking about getting either an oral piercing or brow piercing and this is gonna help so much if i lean toward a li piercing i am so glad i found this information ahead of time!
This may sound stupid but I got my lip pierced yesterday and I'm very happy but I'm also very nervous that something will go wrong or that I get an infection. Another reason I got my lip pierced is because I'm bulimic and if I have a hard time eating, it will be even harder to throw anything up. And hopefully by the end of all this weeks of healing I can start to recover because I haven't been able to do anything. I showered today and all that, I used mouthwash and in the shower I carefully twisted the piercing a bit and then cleaned it. I just watch all these videos to make me not do anything wrong and get an infection because that's what scares me the most.
Soft cold foods are best. Sport shakes, nutritional shakes, baby food, apple sauce, smoothies, etc.. Just so you know there is no benefit to moving or twisting the jewelry. In fact it can lead to infection, prolonged healing and other problems. Just leave it be and it will be fine.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing Alright, thank you very much. My anxiety is getting the worst out of me haha. Is porridge alright? Like semolina porridge if I let it cool. I have made soup that I let cool in the fridge before I eat and so.
Both should be fine. Just take it slow and if hurts to eat something, try something else. Understand that it is temporary and swelling usually only lasts a few days.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing Okay, that's great to hear. I'm just trying to get a variation of food that doesn't hurt. I ate fries and some chicken last night, noob mistake smh. I don't have any straws so I just try to carefully get the food in without hurting myself or touch the piercing too much but the soup worked if I just slurped it in.
Out of most videos and online articles out there about lip piercings, this video is the most useful piece of content I could find :) Thank you so much for putting helpful information out there that's clear to digest.
Yeah Paul and the band gave me that platinum plaque for the self titled album. In part for putting up with them and supporting them during their forming years. There's a photo below of them signing their contract with Roadrunner records in front of the old Axiom on east 5th. They supportrd the Axiom a great deal during the first five years I was open. I think I've pierced pretty much all of the original 9 except maybe Josh. Also Paul Gray was a good friend and im Joey were in my punk band the Have Nots. Both played guitar and pretty much wrote everything but the lyrics. havenots.net
I was thinking on getting my lip done but now im considering not to do it but maybe i'll do it in some years being prepared with everything thanks for your help and recomendations
I really want to get a lip piercing but im really worried about almost everything! I really don't know what questions i should consider about before i decide if i want it or no. All those things you said made me think seriously about it, but i still want to get it😔
As I always suggest sit down with your piercer and go through a consultation. Writing down a few questions in advance is a good idea. I know how it is, sometimes you get their and just draw a blank. Also I have a lot of clients that will contact me through email or message me. Sometimes the written word makes it all easier.
Had my spider bite for about a week now, it's already my 10th day and it's healing well. I also eat a lot of spicy foods now on my second week, no more pain but still I clean it twice a day with Salt water and Antibacterial hand soap, and ofcourse, non alcoholic mouthwash
im thinking of getting a labret, this video was pretty informative, so ive decided to wait for my next vacation to get it. that way when it's still very sensitive and swollen i wont have to worry as much about watching out/hygiene at school :)
Yeah this is an older video and I was a little out of control on the whole turning to the camera thing. Still doing two camera shoots but they are a lot less drastic.
Thank you for this video! I'm thinking about taking snake bites, and it's really nice to see a video that gives info even tho i have many piercings atm. Greetings from Finland!
Thank you so much! Im a diabetic but got my tongue pierced and thanks to your video it healed in no time with little swelling! Ill definitely do all you say here when i get this one done and i know it will alsl heal amazing!
I have anemia and I got my nose pierced a year ago. I forgot about mentioning it because I tend to forget about it all the time and when we pierced it, we had to apply pressure to it for a bit because it was bleeding profusely. I’ve never had a stud in my nose, my piercer was proper and made sure I was fully understanding of the aftercare. I paid $50 for the piercing because I was willing to get quality rather than lower price. My piercer gave me a small bag of sea salt to assist in the recovery as well as the aftercare instructions. He is an amazing piercer and I never had issues with keloids or anything because I religiously followed his guidelines. He ended up doing my second nose piercing the same way and once again in, I believe October of last year (yes, during COVID season and while practicing precautions, they don’t allow walk-ins anymore and you have to sign papers for COVID and the piercing now), I never had an infection even with the aftercare and having to wear a face mask during the time that it was healing. I’m looking into getting a lower side labret piercing now and I think it’s interesting of your aftercare including distilled water because I also have sleep apnea. Yes, even while wearing a C-PAP machine with a nasal mask every night, could’ve increase the risk of infection, but because of diligently following precautions with the cleaning of my machine and the aftercare of my piercing, I never encountered such issues. I always take great care to be cautious. I greatly appreciate this video and even though my piercer would also give good quality advice as well, I think the more expansive knowledge on the aftercare, the better. Since getting my piercing, I have always had a full stock of sea salt. I have created a good aftercare routine of: 1. 8 ounces of warm water with a tablespoon of sea salt 2. Put a couple of cotton rounds in the water 3. Let it soak and also grab some cotton swabs - Before doing all this and touching anything, I wash my hands properly with soap and water, making sure I wash every part of my hand 4. Place the cotton round on the top of my nose - Let it sit there for about a minute 5. As I remove the round, I wipe the top off and spin the piercing to clean that 6. Take a cotton swab and clean the top of the hole and use both sides 7. Take another cotton swab and clean the hole on the inside 8. Use another cotton swab where needed 9. Take another cotton round and wipe down the rest of the area, getting the inside and the outside as well as the piercing itself 10. When finished, make sure to have the closing of the hoop on the outside of my nose 11. Toss the water and the used cotton swabs 12. Rinse and clean the cup 13. Wash my hands I do this twice a day. I do it after a shower as well. I do this in the morning, if I take a shower in the morning, I do it after the shower and right before bed and putting my C-PAP on. In the morning, I also usually make sure my C-PAP is clean and do the maintenance of my C-PAP as I’m suppose to (clean the water chamber daily and the nasal piece, clean the tubing once a week and replace the distilled water at night before bed.) That’s my aftercare routine. I was wondering what you think of it?
I have completely switched to suggesting sterile saline spray like neilmed piercing aftercare or wound wash spray. It's much easier and consistent. If it's the mist style just spray it on the piercing, let it stay in contact for 5-10 minutes, rinse or dry with a clean paper towel or sterile gauze sponge. Also I would not suggest using cotton balls or cotton swabs. The main issue is that cotton strands can get caught on the piercing and jewelry.
@@BodyPiercingTattooingHow about cotton rounds? I use cotton rounds and they don't seem to split or shard off unless you were to rip them in half and use them.
I went in to get standard lobe piercings and snakebites earlier this year. I was recommended by my piercer that I only get one side of my lip done because my body might not handle getting 4 in one day. Around 2 months later I had gone in for my 2nd lip piercing and after it had finally healed I realized how uneven they were. It was noticeable when I had the rods in because I could see that one was lower than the other, and when I put rings in, one would rest more slanted while the other one rested more upright. I took both of them out a few weeks ago because I'd like to get them re-pierced at some point. I'm planning on going to another place, but I'm worried I'll run into the same problem and I'd REALLY like that not to happen again. Any advice as to how to go about this?
@@BodyPiercingTattooing can you elaborate on “an angle that is more outside the mouth” pls? anything would be helpful im just having a hard time imagining it
I’ve been wanting a lip piercing since I was 17 Now I’m 23 and work in a “luxurious “ place I can’t get something like this I really want it tho😭 but I have to keep my whole appearance formal The debate on this is brutal 💔
Hello i got my lip done on top on the side about a week ago i got some redness around the ball and skin wanting to go over my ball u know what that can be
Could be number of things. My first question would be has the swelling gone down? If not the labret stud may not be long enough and may need to be replaced with something longer. Another issue could be that the ball is too small and is being pulled into the hole. This can also be caused by swelling and the post being too short. This soon in the healing I don't think it is infection but it could be a reaction to the metal or aftercare products you are using. I highly suggest seeing your piercer and having them take a look at it. If you don't feel like they have a solution to the problem, see another piercer or a medical professional if the issue gets worse or doesn't go away.
This made me want snake bites even more haha. Your videos are full of so much information and I'm glad. Once its pierced if I have any questions I will ask
It's the platinum plague from the self titled first album. Below it is a photo of them signing their contract with Roadrunner Records in front of my old studio.
I always say, you can do nothing and the piercing will heal but will it heal without issues an quickly. More than likely no. Luck and being healthy were on your side.
I have been wanting to get a side lip piercing and have watched many videos and read many things about the pain but still am unsure. What would you rate the pain to be out of 10? I got my nose pierced and I also want to do an eyebrow piercing. Thanks for the video :)
Well, I think I first meet Corey when he was around 20. I pretty much look the same only thinner and with more hair. So who knows? Could I have been an influence? I don't doubt it. I'm guessing it's the Iowa accent and shared Des Moines background.
I've been thinking about getting spider bites for a couple of weeks now. I don't really care about the pain but about it getting infected (I got my earlobes infected because of the titanium jewelry, it wasn't pretty lol) I find this vid really helpful tho :) Ill be watching ur other videos
Yes, the band have me that plaque when they went platinum on the self titled record. We have a bit of a shared history. I was in band with Joey and Paul called the Have Nots. Paul was a close friend, worked with Shawn when he owned Safari Nite Club and I've pierced a majority of the members.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing That's really cool bro, I absolutely love Slipknot. You're very lucky to have known Paul, as well as the other members. I appreciate how you reply to your youtube comments. I live in Louisiana, but one day when I make it out to Des Monies I will definitely come to you for a few piercings.
Hello, thank you for your very informative videos! I really want a piercing on the bottom left to wear a lipring, but still feel apprehensive. Some Q's: 1) would I drink with a straw? ...2) I understand no intimate actions but is light kissing also bad? My husband will be sad to have nothing for 8 weeks lol ...3) 8-12 week healing period, can you break down the stages for me? Like how much of that is swelling and really painful. ...4) No submerging = during healing time right? Like I can swim after 8-12 wks? ...5) If the piercing is on one side, can I eat other foods with fork and knife in small bites on the other side of the mouth? ...6) Medication-wise, birth control wouldn't be an issue right? ...7) 8-12 wks is a broad window (understandable everyone's different) so how would I know when mine was fully healed? Any signs to look for? ...8) Regarding toothbrush, I use an electric one. Can I sanitize my toothbrush vs. replace it? If so, what to use? I'm so sorry for so many questions (and on such an old video lol) but I really appreciate any help and further advice, thanks!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It depends on if it is comfortable to use a straw. Yes, light kissing would not be advised. The first 3-5 days will be the worst of the swelling, then it will produce discharge and start to slightly concave and eventually, with time, will be healed. You should avoid submerging the piercing during the healing process but can after it is healed. Eating on the side of your mouth the piercing is not on is recommended after swelling goes down. Birth control will not be an issue. If you are unsure if your piercing is completely healed you can visit your piercer and they should be able to tell you if it needs more time or if it is healed. The piercing should have an indented or concaved look to it, it should no longer appear irritated, there is no more discharge coming from the piercing and the jewelry can move freely. If you can change the heads on your electric toothbrush do so and store them outside the bathroom in a cool, dry place.
This is an older video and I no longer suggest soap unless the area has been contaminated. Just clean twice daily with sterile saline spray like neilmed piercing aftercare or wound wash spray.
I got a side labret yesterday and have been eating normal foods because it didn't really bother me, I still cut everything I ate into small pieces to be careful not to hurt it though
does a slight overbite from your teeth make it harder for snake bite piercings? and is a stud or captive bead ring better to get them pierced with? also what kind of toothpaste is ok to brush your teeth with while healing?
I got snake bites a couple of days ago and was told not to eat yogurt or anything dairy during the healing process because it can cause yeast to grow in your mouth.-.
That is a complete urban legend and is based on eastern medicine. Dairy will not cause thrush. In fact yogurt will in fact reduce the risk of thrush aka a yeast outgrowth. This is because it is a great source for probiotics. It is all based on a basis against dairy and a result of the influence of veganism and Eastern Medicine on the piercing industry. There is no scientific connection between eating dairy and having a thrush outgrowth. Most dairy products do not contain live yeast to begin with unless you are consuming raw milk that has not been pasteurized. Why piercers continue to believe this is a misunderstanding of what causes thrush, the fact that it has been repeated as fact over and over with no scientific support and piercers not taking the time to research the facts.
I got a Labret back in the day. I loved it. I have a very fat lip, and the disk in the back started pulling threw my lip and skin growing around it. I pulled it out and settled for a pixie. I still want a Labret. How do I avoid the same issues?
Having jewelry that is long enough for swelling. Mention that you had this issue in the past to your piercer to make sure that you get jewelery to avoid the issue.
Oh, wow. I'm so late, but i'm about to get a vertical labret piercing this week and my piercer told me they usually do those with bioplast because it's nice and flexible for the area. It sounds good to me, in theory, but I just want a second opinion. What do you think about bioplast in a fresh piercing and also in that placement?
The piercing will usually begin to move to the surface and leave a scar behind it. Though Lip Piercings are prone to migrate a little on the inside, it usually isn't noticeable and if it is done correctly, I've never seen one completely reject.
I have a question, I already talked to my doctor about it but he is against any type of piercing/tattoos. I was born with a heart condition. It's my pulmonary valve. I have wanted a lip ring for about 10 years. I have no "restrictions" physically, I do heavy lifting etc. When I was a kid i had to take medication to go to the dentist in case I got poked in the mouth, I asked about if this medication could be taken as a precaution or if it would help fight against an infection (endocarditis). He seems to think I would need to be on it for the rest of my life and since it's a "vanity" issue and not something necessary like a dental visit they wouldn't do it. I haven't been on this medication for close to 15 years now though. He told me "ears, eyebrow or anything non-mucous membrane" are fine to get pierced...so no oral, nose etc. My question (actually 2) is i know since I am more "high risk" for infection, more than likely i will be denied the opportunity anyway...but is there any reason for me to be concerned? Is there some rate of infection, and if I take precaution, am I really going to die from it? And another question, if I DO get it done...my job doesn't allow lip or eyebrow piercings...is there any way that I could possibly hide one of them?
First off with lip piercings there is really no way to hide the piercing. Also removing the jewelry of any length of time even after the piercing is healed, could result in the piercing closing. Oral piercing are more prone to closing than other piercings. Now as for your medical condition, I have little knowledge of your medical condition but if you are are more prone to infection I'm guessing that effects circulation. Which leans longer healing time, more prone to infection and if an infection did occur, your immune system would struggle with fighting of the infection. Medication aside you need to consider unlike a normal poke or bitting your lip, a piercing is a large puncture that we insert jewelry into to keep the wound open. The wound is open much longer than a normal wound and thus is more at risk to infection. With your condition, I'm guessing that you will have an even longer healing period. Thus even higher risk for infection. I'm not a doctor or a medical professional. I'm a piercer. If you came into my studio and asked this question, I would advise you to talk to your doctor and ask for time to research the risks myself. I'm curious about your condition only effecting mucous membranes. Understand that as a doctor part of their approach to treatment is to limit risks. Sometimes it can be of the extreme side of caution and often its for a reason. As a piercer I approach my art and my aftercare suggestions the same way. The last thing I, your doctor or an ethical piercer to see or be a part of you getting a life threatening infection. Do your research, be honest with your piercer and always consider the risks. We want you around for the years to come.
My lips are so big that for the most part the back disk part of my snake bites are shielded by my lip so there is very minimal gum/teeth touching unless I go something to specifically make them pop out of my lip.
Most of the time the jewelery will nest and it dies help to avoid contact. You only want to be concerned if the tissue starts to grow over it. Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
I have a question, one that I haven't seen anyone else ask yet lol. I am going get my lip pierced at the bottom off to the side and would love to have a thin ring in it. In the past I've had lots of complications with my teeth (my daddy's teeth also went bad at an early age and he has never smoked cigarettes or did drugs in his 56 years of life! He tried like hell to take care of his teeth but they still went bad! So apparently he passed the bad teeth gene on to me) Anyway, November 6th, 2018 I had all of my teeth surgically removed and got immediate dentures (which means that I left the oral surgeons office with my new dentures in my mouth right after surgery). I'm a 33 year old female with fricken dentures! I've been wanting my lip pierced since I was 18 years old but haven't done it yet. I've finally decided that I'm ready to do it and get it over with. Do you think that my bottom dentures will affect it in any way? Have you ever pierced someone's lip who had dentures??? And if so, do u know if they've ever had any problems with theirs? I know everybody's body is different but I'm curious BTW, sorry for the 'novel' I just wrote u 😂🤣
Yes, I have and they had no additional issues. The key is placement and proper jewelry. If it is angled upward and out of the mouth there will be little or no contact.
I’ve been thinking about getting a lip piercing for a while but I currently have braces and will continue to have them for a year, and I plan on switching to ring, would this combo not work together or be fine?
I kinda want to get one done but i'll have to wait like 2 years maybe? cause they just had to put an age limit on piercings and a legal guardian or parents consent make that 5 years...
I've been really considering a Medusa/philtrum piercing! I was wondering from a piercer's point of view the use of Bioflex/Bioplast labrets. I want to use them almost right away after getting the piercing done for my work but I don't know if that would be healthy. I'd love to know your opinion! I also love your videos they are very informative and have helped me figure out a lot! Thank you!
I'm not a fan of putting plastic in the body and it can do just as much damage to gums as metal can. Which is the main concern with Medusa. It's not like a tongue piercing where there is a risk of bitting down on the jewelry. Biopoastic is a name brand. It is a chemical based product and the company that manufactures it hasn't been forthcoming on what is exactly in it. Since it is in your mouth and body, it safe to say that part of the material will be broken down and then either swallowed or absorbed into the body. How that will effect your health is completely unknown but is not an issue with implant grade metals.
Thank you for getting back to me! Gum erosion and tooth damage are one of my biggest concerns for getting the Medusa. The advertising for Bioplastic always says that it's better for your gums, but I wanted to know from a piercer's point of view. Do you know how long it takes for gum erosion to begin? I know it's different for each person but an average would be nice to know. Again thank you!! ♥️
@@chandlermiddlemas229 the placement, angle and having the correct size jewelry have more to do with reducing the risk. I know that they claim that but they won't even submit the material to third party testing. It really depends on the person. I have had clients that have never had an issue after years of having the piercing. Others that they start to see issues with in a year.
Hey, know I'm 13 but I'm just obsessed with lip piercing so can I , I just need to know about what you think these ages children can do it or not please reply???
Hi everyone ! I have a little question : Do we keep having a hole/scar after removing a lip piercing for a long time ? I really want to do the snake bites piercing but I'm scared to keep having a hole if one day I don't want it anymore. Thank you for your answers !
I answered this on the other video but lip piercing are the most noticeable scarring piercings. They will often look open decades after the jewelry has been removed.
Purified water is filtered and will often contain anything small enough to get through the filter. Distilled is going to have a get deal less trace elements, microorganisms and impurities. Basic is have been distilled down to only water. Thus less risk for contaminates.
I figured as much. Though I had the image of using a golf tee and a club to do the piercing. I'm sure someone has tried it. Gold 14kt or higher is gone for fresh piercings. The only disadvantage is that the finish may dull during the healing. It's why I suggest healing with a different alloy and then switching to gold after it's healed.
Depending on the placement and angle of the piercing, the size and shape of the jewelry, and the shape of your mouth, there is always a risk of damaging teeth, gums and the bone structure of the mouth. Any oral piercing has theses risks. However, if the piercing is done correctly and the jewelry is sized correctly, the risks can be limited. If you are concerned about this but still want the piercing your best options are either pierce with a ring slightly outside of the mouth or pierce below the gum line with a labret stud. When in doubt discuss your concerns with your piercer before hand to come up with the best option of your anatomy.
A lip piercing shouldn't really be effected by working landscaping. The main concern would be if you wear a mask or something covering the piercing. This could cause issues.
thankyou for the informative video ! I understand everything except what harm can a lip ring do to my teeth and gums? I really want one but it don’t want it to damage my teeth or anything like that
It all comes down placement, jewelry type, jewelry size, your anatomy and how much you play with it. This step to reducing damage is finding a skilled piercer. The key is limiting contact. You're welcome and I'm glad to hear that you found the video informative. Thank you for watching and hope this answers your question.
Hi um I'm thinking about getting a lip ring, and I'm scared that it would hurt and that it mite get infected or something like that 🤦 But if I get one this video may of helped lol
I can tell you that a majority of my clients express that lip piercings are not as painful as other piercings. This especially true if you go to a well experienced and skilled piercer. It is normal and health to fear the unknown. The most common response I hear is, "that was nearly as bad as I thought it would be." As far as infection, if you are disciplined, follow the aftercare instruction and are healthy, you more than likely won't have an issue. I'm glad you found the video educational and informative. I'm a big believer the more you know before hand the better your piercing experience will be. Good luck and let us know if you end up having the piercing done.
It depends on the angle of the piercing. Circular jewelry are better for piercings done more outside the mouth, than circular is a better option. If the piercing is more inside the mouth and/or lower a stud style is better. Talk to your piercer about what type of jewelry you want to wear in the piercing.
I know this is a couple years old, but I was wondering what I should do if I want a lip ring piercing, but I'm allergic to gold and fake jewellery, when I was younger I had my ears pierced but my ears regected the gold so I'm not sure what to do
I don't think that you would have an issue at all. You need to understand that body piercing jewelry is of a much higher quality than any of the mass-produced ear lobe jewelry. The top three biocompatible materials that I would suggest would be in order #1 Niobium #2 Implant Grade Titanium #3 Implant grade Surgical Stainless Steel #4 14kt or higher Gold The jewelry needs to solid not plated or filled with a high polished finish.
I’m getting a lip piercing on Sunday and I was wondering if I can get the piercing with a ring instead of a curved barbell? Is it a safe choice to do it with a ring? I saw a few people get it with the ring but I’m still worried if it will mess up anything in my mouth.
im not sure if you'll be able to answer this, but if i get snake bites will it affect my ability to play flute? as strange as it sounds I've wanted to get snake bites since i was pretty young, since my uncle had them and I'm not able to see him anymore. so getting the snake bites has a sort of sentimental thing for me. but my flute playing is also rather important to me. so it's a hard to decision for me to make, and I'd like to get your opinion on it.
The swelling will cause issues. Afterwards it's hard to say. It all comes down to placement and the jewelry. Labret studs will impact playing less than rings.
Hy there I had a lip piercing A week ago. I had an stud on the lower right lip. Swelling is gone The problem is the discharge of s mucus type of thing. What does it mean?? Is it because of infection And later can i change with a ring later?? Its done horizontally done. If i can how much time should i wait? Thank you.
It is normal is see some snot like discharge that forms often in strings on the inside. Basically it is the same as the discharge that collects on the jewelry outside of mouth. Inside your mouth where it's warm and moist, it can't harden. If you are noticing this on the outside see your piercer. It could be a sign of an infection or other issue. You shouldn't change the jewelry until the piercing is completely healed. As far as changing to a ring, depending on the angle and placement you may not be able to wear rings or have to find oval shaped rings. Otherwise, the ring will be so big and have so much contact with teeth and gums it will do damage to your teeth and gums.
Thanks for your video! I have a consultation, a month ago I had the labret piercing and a white substance has appeared in my oral cavity and it hurts a lot, it does not finish healing, what do I do in this case? Thanks!! greetings from South America
Are you asking about white tissue surrounding the piercing? That would be scar tissue. It is common for a white ring of tissue to firm around the inside piercing hole.
I'm currently thinking about getting either a vertical labret or a ring on the left side of my bottom lip. One thing I've always wondered though is if I can pierce a ring right away or if it needs to heal using a stud. Is it possible to use a ring if it's big enough? Second and last question is; is it bad to use black piercings? My septum and nose ring are both black and I'd like to keep them all matching.
Yes it can be pierced with a ring. It depends on the angle of the piercing. I do not suggest black jewelry. Often it is coated with a rubber or it is painted or dyed.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing Okay cause I found an anodized surgical steel ring, if that's better than PVD? And if I understand correctly, it should be pierced at an angle and not like a labret?
There is no such thing as anodized surgical stainless steel. It is plated with God knows what. As far as pvd, would you eat it? No? Then why would you put it in a piercing.
That would be personal choice. The only risk would be the material that many of these faux jewelry are made of. There is always a risk of having a reaction to the material it is made of and it is often the low grade material available. Also there is the risk of having contact with teeth ang gums and the dangers of swallowing the jewelry.
Ok, I have a few questions... First, for how long is the no bodies of water thing? Because I have scoliosis, so I need to swim to keep my back straight, like, how much time would I have to skip swimming for? About the alcohol thing... I read it's fine if you drink with a straw? Is that true? Also I play a lot with my mouth and my lips and I am scared I might fuck up my teeth or my gums or something? And I don't want to get an infection. I also have ear piercings (the ones girls get as babies) and idk if the nurses had parkinson and made the holes in the wrong place or if I'm allergic but if I wear earings for too long they start hurting... After writing all this I'm just thinking maybe I just shouldn't get piercings at all after all, but still... They are so cute and I so want them idk help
No swimming until the piercing is healed. Meaning 8-12 weeks. No drinking for the first 3-5 days to avoid swelling. It doesn't matter if you use a straw or not. Playing with the piercing while it's healing will prolong healing, increases the risk of damage to teeth, gums and bones, infection and other issues. It sounds like you maybe having a reaction to low quality jewelry.

Yeah, this was early in my editing and I think one of the first times I used two cameras. I'd like to think I've gotten better.

Alright, thank you very much.

I have created a good aftercare routine of:
1. 8 ounces of warm water with a tablespoon of sea salt
2. Put a couple of cotton rounds in the water
3. Let it soak and also grab some cotton swabs
- Before doing all this and touching anything, I wash my hands properly with soap and water, making sure I wash every part of my hand
4. Place the cotton round on the top of my nose
- Let it sit there for about a minute
5. As I remove the round, I wipe the top off and spin the piercing to clean that
6. Take a cotton swab and clean the top of the hole and use both sides
7. Take another cotton swab and clean the hole on the inside
8. Use another cotton swab where needed
9. Take another cotton round and wipe down the rest of the area, getting the inside and the outside as well as the piercing itself
10. When finished, make sure to have the closing of the hoop on the outside of my nose
11. Toss the water and the used cotton swabs
12. Rinse and clean the cup
13. Wash my hands
I do this twice a day.
I wouldn't advise it.
Lip piercing tend to migrate a little. If you plan on going with rings, pierce with them and at an angle that is more outside the mouth.

I'm guessing that you found the video helpful. Thank you for watching.

Thanks for the tips

i would get one right now but covid really stopping all my plans😭
Are there any main veins or anything in the lip that can hurt me? Need to know asap
Not in the area that we normally place piercings the viens are further below. Sometimes lip piercings will bleed off and on for a day or two.
Can i know if my body will reject the piercing? And if yes, then how?
The piercing will usually begin to move to the surface and leave a scar behind it. Though Lip Piercings are prone to migrate a little on the inside, it usually isn't noticeable and if it is done correctly, I've never seen one completely reject.
Thanks if been thinking about this for a while but have been wondering if it hurts at all
Usually lip piercing are some of the least painful piercings to get done.
I really love the labret jewellery but I’m petrified of ruining my teeth
You can limit risks but there is always risks.
Loved this. Also I smoke weed Every day, so how many days should I stay away from it?
Mainly the first 3-5 days.
I know everybody's body is different but I'm curious
BTW, sorry for the 'novel' I just wrote u 😂🤣
Yes, I have and they had no additional issues. The key is placement and proper jewelry. If it is angled upward and out of the mouth there will be little or no contact.

I’ve been thinking about getting a lip piercing for a while but I currently have braces and will continue to have them for a year, and I plan on switching to ring, would this combo not work together or be fine?
You may want to wait until your teeth are completely corrected before getting the piercing. The best angle and placement may change.
I kinda want to get one done but i'll have to wait like 2 years maybe? cause they just had to put an age limit on piercings and a legal guardian or parents consent make that 5 years...
Well that gives you a lot of time to research the piercing and find a great piercer.

Thank you and I hope it was helpful.
i have braces. will this piercing interfere significantly? i love it so much! also luv your videos 💘
Hey, I was wondering if the flat part that is inside your mouth supposed to be sucked in your lip?
The disc will usually nest a little bit into the soft tissue.
Hey, know I'm 13 but I'm just obsessed with lip piercing so can I , I just need to know about what you think these ages children can do it or not please reply???
The main issue is your teeth and body is still developing. So the placement that works today, may not in 5 years.

Vampire bites is the trend but unless you have the prefect anatomy, you will have issues. Otherwise with studs the are called angel bites.
Does it count if I HAD anemia?
I have a question, why can’t we use purified water?
Purified water is filtered and will often contain anything small enough to get through the filter.
Distilled is going to have a get deal less trace elements, microorganisms and impurities. Basic is have been distilled down to only water. Thus less risk for contaminates.

Gold 14kt or higher is gone for fresh piercings. The only disadvantage is that the finish may dull during the healing. It's why I suggest healing with a different alloy and then switching to gold after it's healed.
So I have a question, My cousin told me that having a lip piercing will eat away at the enamel on my teeth. Is this true? Very informative video
@@BodyPiercingTattooing thank you for the information!
You're welcome and good luck. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.
Cut down drinking and smoking? I don’t think I can do that to be honest, what would if I don’t?
Hey what if I work landscaping ?
Hi um I'm thinking about getting a lip ring, and I'm scared that it would hurt and that it mite get infected or something like that 🤦
But if I get one this video may of helped lol
I can tell you that a majority of my clients express that lip piercings are not as painful as other piercings. This especially true if you go to a well experienced and skilled piercer.
It is normal and health to fear the unknown. The most common response I hear is, "that was nearly as bad as I thought it would be."
As far as infection, if you are disciplined, follow the aftercare instruction and are healthy, you more than likely won't have an issue.
I'm glad you found the video educational and informative. I'm a big believer the more you know before hand the better your piercing experience will be. Good luck and let us know if you end up having the piercing done.
would you reccomend getting a tongue piercing and lip piercing at the same time? or would that be too much
When healing a lip piercing, do you get a circular barbell or a labret under your the healing period?
It depends on the angle of the piercing. Circular jewelry are better for piercings done more outside the mouth, than circular is a better option. If the piercing is more inside the mouth and/or lower a stud style is better.
Talk to your piercer about what type of jewelry you want to wear in the piercing.
Am watching with my lips Pierced for about four weeks now but not healing am so scared 😱
I have had my snakebites since I was 19 then I got the middle of my lip pierced when I was 23 lol I now have 14 piercings lol
Thank you for sharing and watching.
Your welcome 😴
I know this is a couple years old, but I was wondering what I should do if I want a lip ring piercing, but I'm allergic to gold and fake jewellery, when I was younger I had my ears pierced but my ears regected the gold so I'm not sure what to do
I don't think that you would have an issue at all. You need to understand that body piercing jewelry is of a much higher quality than any of the mass-produced ear lobe jewelry. The top three biocompatible materials that I would suggest would be in order
#1 Niobium
#2 Implant Grade Titanium
#3 Implant grade Surgical Stainless Steel
#4 14kt or higher Gold
The jewelry needs to solid not plated or filled with a high polished finish.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing thank you so much for your suggestions and replying, that was one of my main worries and I'll take these into consideration 😁
@@breazymac133 You are welcome and I'm glad to help. If you do end up getting something pierced, good luck and let us know how it turns out.
Hi the piercing on the inside has a flat back and created an indent that is red and it feels like it isnt healing
This could be nesting or the jewelry is too tight or the angle of the piercing is off. If it doesn't subside or worsens, see your piercer.
I’m getting a lip piercing on Sunday and I was wondering if I can get the piercing with a ring instead of a curved barbell? Is it a safe choice to do it with a ring? I saw a few people get it with the ring but I’m still worried if it will mess up anything in my mouth.
It depends on your anatomy and the angle of the piercing. Healing with a ring will be more difficult and take additional care.
im not sure if you'll be able to answer this, but if i get snake bites will it affect my ability to play flute? as strange as it sounds I've wanted to get snake bites since i was pretty young, since my uncle had them and I'm not able to see him anymore. so getting the snake bites has a sort of sentimental thing for me. but my flute playing is also rather important to me. so it's a hard to decision for me to make, and I'd like to get your opinion on it.
The swelling will cause issues. Afterwards it's hard to say. It all comes down to placement and the jewelry. Labret studs will impact playing less than rings.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing thank you-! i think it's pretty cool how you respond to all the comments like this:)
You're welcome and try to get to all of them and will continue till I can't.
how do we properly clean it !?
I currently suggest using sterile saline spray like neilmed wound wash spray or piercing aftercare spray twice daily.
wait so is is it possible to still smoke because idk if i can wait till it’s done healing.
Yes you can smoke but the swelling will be worse and last longer.
Hy there
I had a lip piercing
I had an stud on the lower right lip.
Swelling is gone
The problem is the discharge of s mucus type of thing.
What does it mean??
Is it because of infection
And later can i change with a ring later??
Thanks sounds good.

@@BodyPiercingTattooing Oh, okay thank you so much!
You are welcome and thank you for watching.
is it ok if i wear a fake piercing instead if getting a piercing?
That would be personal choice. The only risk would be the material that many of these faux jewelry are made of. There is always a risk of having a reaction to the material it is made of and it is often the low grade material available.
Also there is the risk of having contact with teeth ang gums and the dangers of swallowing the jewelry.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing oh thank u!

@@BodyPiercingTattooing Thanks for answering! The swimming thing kinda crushed my dream, I could skip it for a couple weeks maybe, but that's it :c
