    I did it! Thanks man, it took me a couple of days to understand the hand and chest raising but afterwards it was a snap. Great tutorial, and again THANK YOU!~

    The problem with these tutorials is that they don't explain how it is learned. Its primarily just tips to improve an aerial if you already can do it. For example: how long should it take to learn? What are effective and safe practice techniques? What are common mistakes?

    You should first be able to do the cartwheel then the one hand cartwheel then the elbow cartwheel thumbs up so everyone can see.

    My first backflip I did off a bar about waist height into sand at a playground, The elevation helped me tremendously, then i worked my way down to the flat ground.

    Well the aerial is a very fun trick, was the first one I've learned. A good way for the aerial is the b-kick, that's how I learned that one... train that but get your upper body down to the floor and from time to time get your legs more go up. Once you have a feeling for that it's easy to throw your legs completely over your body. But that's just how I learned the Aerial, dunno if it is helping those who wanna learn that move.

    i do a half twist off with a little hop my right leg into the launch off my left (got the idea from b-twist/kicks) and it gives me a little more momentum. i use it to practice form until i can get the height w/o twisting first

    im a gymnast, and that isn't how it is taught. all you have to do is do a running cartwheel, but when you normally would put your hands down, you pull your arms up (just bend your elbow) with a lot of force to pull yourself up. and it can be an aerial if your head is 1cm, or 1ft off the ground.

    I had the same problem AND U KNOW WHAT, it was because I kept looking on the ground when doing this move!!! Like straight when doing this move, its crucial, it helped me so much, I get height and I land this move now. It was only because of where I was looking at. Give it a try, it might be same mistake I did! If you look to the ground, you automatically go for the ground, your head gives your trick the direction

    Noone's gonna beak their neck, if you do then you've learned it wrong.
    Just start out with a simple cartweel. Then make them faster and faster and put less presure on your hands.
    Then you can start working on the "upward" motion likes he demostrated in the video. But you can still put down your hand if you feel your not gonna make it.
    Just play around with cartweels, thats my tips....
    (sorry for bad english)

  • @skaterfugater
    @skaterfugater 14 років тому

    No I am pretty sure that you are right. There is different ways to do the aerial. Some like to throw both arms back, going into the move fairly straight at first. This could be considered the more gymnast way. Some like to fling one arm over the top and the other arm is ripped upwards with the elbow only (but also upwards to the back). Looks a bit more "streetstyle" one might say.

    in my opinion a backflip is the easiest trick! it's just the fear that seems to be a problem for some guys...but with mats you can get over the fear! ;) yesterday i learned a backflip ;)

  • @B45H1R
    @B45H1R 13 років тому

    @SonicFlyer14 Okay one thing this video DID NOT mention was looking at the ground!!!!! They forgot how important that step is to learning this move. I don't know how to explain it, but when you do a one-handed cartwheel your head will turn to where your opposite foot will land. If your turn your head the same way when doing an aerial, you should get the basic movement down. The rest is whipping your legs up and around you.

    I'm comfortable with my right leg forward, so I launch with my left leg. I think I've nailed everything except for the fear of lifting my right leg after the left leg and float through the air : / The momentum from that back leg is what makes it.

    Are you actually jumping once you land from the skip thing? You actually have to do a sort of skip-jump, then once you land, jump and swing your hips over...sorry if I wasn't thorough on the first one. :)

    What kind of place can I start practicing? I mean, if I try and do it on flat hard ground and fail then fall, it really hurts. So do I actually need any cushion?

  • @Venezino
    @Venezino 15 років тому

    I'm trying this, and I can ALMOST get it. But I'm doing something wrong. When I do it, I get the flip fine, but I'm not getting high enough to allow enough time for my legs to swing over and land. I don't think I'm twisting, doing more of a front flip. What else might I be doing wrong?

  • @webmaster21

    @SexxyKevin Yes, sure. You can broke your knee if u do this without warming up or/and if u do it on hard floor, besides if you're truly hardcore and do this on your head - it could be hurt too but i've never seen that happened.

    when you want to practice aerial.... you should have someone that can help you over with a long object (maybe a bamboo rod with a pool noodle on it) to help you over. when you do practice aerials though, dont let that person do all the work, try to do as much as you can with your own power

    3 days is a very short time. I took 3 months to perfect it. I can't really give any tips, because I've forgotten what it felt like when I was learning it. But I'm just saying that 3 days is not enough for you to learn and land it.

    Hey guys, what are some of the common mistakes when attempting an aerial? I'm not sure if I'm not getting enough lift, not getting enough torque, or both. The best I've been able to do so far is with putting my opposing hand down (torque side not lift side). Any help?
