  • How to silicone render (thin coat render) is the topic of today's video, as we take a look at the ins and outs of applying silicone render, to various backgrounds including pebledash and concrete.
    As well as showing you how to thin coat render, we also silicone render a pizza oven, which was a great and rare opportunity for us to try something a bit different and learn a bit about how to build a pizza oven as well as how to render a pizza oven with silicone render.
    Rendering over pebledash can be quite controversial so we take a look at why its not always something to worry about and why this Ecorend thin coat silicone render system is a great choice for such projects.
    This video features Ecorend Thin Coat render system, which is in no way affiliated with this video so all opinions are uninfluenced and genuine.

    Nice job pal, is that thin coat easy to use. Looks good but never used it. Prefer it over normal k rend?

    I’ve just had a Lidget Compton garage installed without the spar finish. Can the silicone render go straight on to this? Not sure if it would cover where the panels join. Hope you got invited round for pizza.

    I still don’t know how you use that massive trowel especially for render. Got myself a 16inch mt the other day but can’t say I’ve got used to it yet...

      I don't know either mate, I think I just started using them for everything and just got used to it. I think it's worth persevering because it really has sped up my skimming, but yeah, it's awkward to begin with.

    Nice work , I’ve been plastering 12 I’ve done a lot of sand and cement render, did you do a course to learn this? do you think I’d be capable with sand and cement experience I’ll be doing my first job on my own house, cheers mate keep up the good work 👍

      Thanks! I've been plastering a similar amount of time and I have not been doing this long. I taught myself to do this using tutorials and guides and it's pretty easy if you can already sand and cement render.
      The base coats with these modern renders are more easy to use than sand and cement.
      I think you'll be fine

    Interesting process. Never used that product. Finishing the silicon render, do you float with plastic trowel flat. Or finish with the edge of the trowel(like troweling skim coat) ?

    • @ryanseeley
      @ryanseeley  4 роки тому +1

      You float with the plastic trowel flat, like you would when floating up sand and cement, not angled at all.
      Thanks for the comment

    That's a mighty job. How resistant is this to harsh weather? I live at the top of a hill and the gable wall of my house gets the brunt of the wind and rain.

    • @ryanseeley

    How do you cope with any shoulder pressure when plastering or rendering lol

    • @ryanseeley
      @ryanseeley  4 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure, I think the body must adapt. I don't really notice shoulder pressure day to day but if I'm doing a particularly big job I do get tender shoulders and back.

    • @ryanseeley
      @ryanseeley  3 роки тому +2

      I most of the tools are listed in the video description. I got the render from a place called Rendit, which is a great render supply shop. The materials for this job were around £400 all together If I remember correctly. Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it

      It’s a great first attempt. Too thick , can see it on the corner beads. But I’m sure you’ve learnt from it and next time it will be spot on. Try Baumit though I think you’ll like it better .
