DON'T Buy the Novritsch SSG10 Air Brake Pins before watching this!! [4k]

- Today we're looking at the pros and cons of the Air Brake pins for the SSG10 from Novritsch.
Are they worth the massive decrease in fps you get from using them?
To address all of the 'You should use BBS to test instead!' All shots fired in this video were using 0.2g nuprol BBs.
Use second largest brake pin on my ssg10, I did lose lot of J ( don't know how many fps, in my country we measure in Joule with bb's that normally use on field), but in combination with silencer, it's deadly quiet... Literally, if you stand 2 meter avay from shooter, can only hear bb's that flying through air
I'm glad you had better results than I did!
Supressor, airbreak pin and FPS rings to get back the lost power. Works great!
Lower sound and same power
Really disappointed on those pins, thank you for the warning. Do you think that fps adjustment rings will not work as well?
I tried using a 3j Rapax spring with Novritsch's two smaller FPS adjuster rings and only achieved 440 fps with no noise level difference to the rifle running at stock 500fps
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834
So "air break pins" more like "fps lowering pins"
@lookingcoolisnottheintention what spring did you order the ssg10 with the 486 FPS ?
And what mods have you done to it to increase your FPS?
This is kind of random but should I re-seat my bucking when I get the gun? Thanks!
In theory no. But every one of these rifles I have seen has had a really nasty greasy Bucking. So if you know what you're doing, take it apart and give it a good clean. Especially the Bucking!
You're measuring dBA at the wrong place... the gun itself will be the same loudness. It's the sound at the tip of the barrel that changes. The actual pop the gun makes up front. Coupled with a silencer it's tremendously quieter with an air brake.
Can you test with a suppressor so you can test the noise of the piston not the sound from the barrel
And also please try with heavyer bb's
You know you did the sound test completely wrong right? Your sound detection device was picking up the trigger box sounds the way you had the rifle. You're supposed to have the barrel end closest to the device
I have since tested it the way you have suggested it. With no notable difference
There is no difference. Mainly the sound comes from piston hitting cylinder head.
Were you shooting BBs during this? Wasn't sure if that could change anything.
Yes
I installed the air brake and a Sorbopad, can mod. I my sound is reduced a lot. But you have to combine the mods otherwise the results a less satisfying
So what I knew from other videos confirmed, they don't work
So your piston glide rings are not scratched ?
Cause Novritsch`s support is saying that it is normal.
Not yet! 🤞
I believe the cause of that is burrs on the cutout in the bottom of the cylinder, can be taken care of with some Emory cloth, fixed mine today
Ahahahahaha intresting
@ Looking Cool is Not the Intention
If you jump back and forth of the no air brake pin and the 29mm air brake pin you can hear the pop is quieter. ( Just to go from one extreme to the other )
I think you'll find it's the trigger mechanism when releasing the piston that is making the more noise.
Still defeats the object of the air brake pin unless you make the trigger mechanism quieter.
But not being there makes it harder to say 'That's where it's coming from'
Just a thought.....
The problem with digital cameras is that they auto level the sound so two vastly different sounds levels can sound very similar which is why I use a sound meter.
I agree that it could be the trigger mechanism, but there was no obvious difference in sound 'location' during my test. But this was just a test of the Air Break pins, not the noise of the trigger mechanism.
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834
But this is my point, if the trigger mechanism is doing the 97/98 dB it will not make any difference to the sound meter if the air brake pins work and are quieter than 97/98 dB as the sound meter only records the loudest sound.
I'm not disrespecting you in anyway, I do like the video and have found it helpful, I'm just bouncing some thoughts about mate.
I'd also be curious to see if having the sound meter further away from the gun and if shooting towards the sound meter would make a difference in sounds levels that were picked up. Possibly tested in a larger or outdoor space to simulate a more game like scenario.
@@Brownicus it would, but only because of the reduced amount of air (less FPS) that it would be quieter.
By the time you get the FPS back up where you want it, it would be the same
Would you recommend the pins if a gun is shooting hot? Is the FPS consistent
I did notice that it brought the fps down consistently so it could work!
However, I’ve heard some people have had issues with the pins firing out of the rifle, this may have been fixed now. Just beware.
I can confirm the airbreak pins do diddly squat for noise suppression.
Glad you did that so I don’t have to ! I found similar results as far as noise reduction or no noise reduction 😂
Haha thanks. Just annoyed that I bought the pins for no reason 😂
How did are you achieve 500fps on 2.2 Joules on your previous was something about 435fps after you adjust hop-up. To be honest I looking now to get one but thinking about M160 2.8 joules. Can you help me with suggestions for 🇬🇧
I had m180 spring and 2,7J because of short barrel, then i put rapax 4+ RMS and achived 3, 7J, then i put nov. wieghted piston with med pin, joules dropped to 3 J then i put RMS rings both of them and now its 3,4 J on 0.48g bb's (field limit 3,5 J)
I already get suspicion when the Norvitsch Air brake pins video have no footage of the actual test fire like what they did to the silencer, now this just confirm it's performance can basically described as useless.
In my results yeah, totally useless! So hopefully I can stop someone else from buying them unnecessarily
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834 Same with the FPS ring adjuster for SSG24, useless.
@@air3dp I actually had good results with the FPS adjuster rings
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834 For me, same results with or without.
@@air3dp how strange!
Can it be that the airbreak pins have no sound reduction because you tested the sound without a bb in the bucking? The sound of a gun firering is always louder when it is empty because there is nothing blocking the barrel. You can hear if your mag is empty by shooting. So maybe you should test it with bbs in the mag 🤷♂️
Yep i think this is neccesary as a second part of a video, dude!!!
Every time the rifle was fired in the video, it was loaded.
Looking Cool is Not the Intention ah okay. Wow now thats strange 🤔
I know, what a waste of money 😂 to be clear it was still perfectly sealing every time!
Hey, do you maybe have a digital caliper to measure the airbrake thickness? I will try to 3d print the nozzle myself.
I can do, give me a couple of days 😄
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834 What's the diameter? Looking to do the same thing
The other thought that I had with these is that you should use it FOR the FPS drop. That way you can get a heavy spring and then drop the FPS to the Milsim or field your going to.
But then you have a heavy bolt pull for no beneficial reason?
Crazy idea: just use a weaker spring.
I’m looking at either the SSG24 or the SSG10, which one would you recommend? I’ve been seeing issues the the SSG10 and I’m seriously considering the 24. I’m semi-experienced at teaching, willing to upgrade either as necessary. I know the A1 is significantly cheaper, but I’m willing to spend more on the 24.
There do seem to be a lot of people having issues with the 10. I’ve not had any! I can’t speak for the reliability of the 10 because I only managed to get it out for one game before the lockdown! But the 24 is a serious piece of kit. Coupled with the rhop patch and mods to make it quieter it’s a real contender and it’s solid as hell. I’ve never had any issues with my 24!
I would recommend both at the moment but the 24 more so
Looking Cool is Not the Intention Sounds good, I’d rather have the slightly older rifle than a new one that I’m going to have to really work with to get it to work. Hopefully the issues that are apparent get resolved.
DON'T Buy any of Novritsch item unless I like to have East Germany style customer service. If you run into a program you are on your own.
I’ve not had any issues with their customer service myself.
What was your issue exactly?
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834 3 issues, 2nd day after I got it.
And what were they?
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834 It's getting worse, In the last few days a spring plate dropped off the gun with a 10 mm long black screw. Orange tip is impossible to remove, sloppy magazine and East Germany style support
Jeez, that sucks. Maybe try for a return?
Perhaps the determining factor for noise with your gun is not (yet) the airbrake? Dampening the mechanical noise is important for a spring gun.
How would you suggest doing that?
@@anomalyp8584 grease the spring on the trigger mechanism and add foam in every place you can in the stock
@@scottmalcum3472 just gotten some silicone grease!👌🏻
I'm not sure about this but I think your test would have been better measuring the sound while there was a bb loaded and a heavier one would be even better. Also retesting the seal before you started would have been helpful. It might not do anything but it would remove more doubt in my mind. To be honest most of the noise of this gun comes from the piston making the use of a silencer purely aesthetic.
BBs were loaded. Heavy versus light ammo made no difference
I don't know what happening with SSG10 but I am thankful everyday that I own a SSG24!
Same here dude, same here.
Berényi Andrei-Gabriel same Im really happy I brought the 24 a month before 😂
I know there is no point of comparison, but my well mb03 with the $35 Evike matrix power kit, sounds a lot less, it is quieter, about 75dba
Have you tested that with a sound meter?
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834 First I used the typical app that you can find in the playstore, I was not sure of the result since it marked me between 70 and 80dbs, then, I remembered that a friend had a sound meter in his recording studio and I borrowed it, the results were I already mentioned before.
But you mesure noise with no bb in . You can hear big noise drop when you mesure fps as there was bb in
There were BBS in every time it was fired
i have WASP piston and there is huge difference in sound with air brake and without one
Well I'm glad you had better results than I did
Also, If you check the video, the decibels are higher when using the chrono
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834 What weight did you use for sound testing ?
You should have done this with bbs mate ;)
All shots taken in the video the gun was loaded.
@@lookingcoolisnottheintenti1834 oh so these are useless then. Just wondering if WASP would fit ssg cylinder. I've heard it is not vsr compatible as it is advertised....
I have heard that the wasp is not compatible with the SSG10 cylinder unfortunately.
I heard they're weren't too, but I've also heard of one person who has fitted one with no issues 😂
@@jamieswain4888 interesting!
Hey, Ok but if for example I use the 29mm pin which is the quiest one and I put a spring to be in 2.8J and 550 FPS (the MAX rate of Jules and FPS in Spain)?? As I have read in the blog of sniper mechanic cause im thinking to buy one day the W.A.S.P VSR10 piston... is it neccesary to put a big spring so? Will this make sound to be louder? not?
Thanks!!
The wasp works differently and will work to reduce the noise. This was just a test of the air brake pins. I did actually try with a Rapax 3+j spring afterwards and only achieved 440 FPS on a 0.2g BB with no reduction in noise
These pins came loose within a few shots for me and a friend.
I've heard a few cases.of.that happening! Suffice it to say, I won't be using them anyway!
