Sounds like a great motivational speech, but people have to understand that school is NOT for everyone. Not everyone possess the academic capacity to excel. In the beginning, he mentioned that he was "fortunate"...great for him, but unfortunately, not everyone is or can be in that situation...AND get accepted to Harvard. I praise Dr. Thao for his achievements, but I believe it's just too simple to say go to school, you'll do well, and you'll be fine in life. Not realistic. Easily said than done.

He's a Dr. in Lawyer and yet he doesn't even know how to proper say his name in Hmong? Peb cov Hmoob yuav tsum xyaum li the Spanish or the Chinese. Just because peb lubnpe sau tsis tau raws pronunciation in English doesn't mean peb yuav hu raws the way it can only write. Txos Thoj should just sound like Txos Thoj - NOT- Tshaus Thauj. That's the English written sound yes. Does the Spanish/Latin do the same? We need to start doing this, I know it's not an over night thing but if our Leaders start doing and teach others....eventually in time we will all come to use it.
So that the next person 'Chia Xiong" will know how to say his/her name "Txiab Xyooj" and - NOT - 'Tshiab Shong'.

Only referring to his introduction at the beginning: having an M.D. and J.D. degree has no bearing on whether or not he properly pronounces his name in the Hmong language. Those degrees are from his academic accomplishments, not his proficiency in the Hmong language. If you'll note, he pronounced his [Hmong] name in English at the beginning. "Tchao Thao" would be correct, IMHO.
3HMONGTV: use Tchao Thao, M.D., J.D. You don't need to use Dr. at the beginning if you're including his degrees. Otherwise, drop his degrees and just use Dr. Tchao Thao. It's redundant to use both.
