  • After procrastinating for years, I finally dove in and started changing my own tires. But like many things with this 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500, nothing is ever simple.

*In my younger days I did it with nothing but a couple of pry bars and a whole lotta sweat. Only on steel rims though.*

This is not even on my bucket list of things to master...ever. Always thought how do you balance them after you get them changed? Take them to a Tire Shop? 🤔

Hey Andrew, I recommend putting in a new O ring on your oil pickup tube, also, my help to clean out the oil pickup if the car has ever been driven with older oil.

Nice welder, we all had a birds nest at one time ( maybe more LOL). Sixty Five Ford (Moe ) has a great channel & he is a good guy. Never met him in person, just on line. A few years back I had a few questions that he helped me with. About 6 years ago I did a video on the
" Harbor Freight How To Mount Tire Using Pittsburgh Portable Tire Changer ". It was my first time using it on tires that were on my van that was sitting for years. If you want to see my debut come take a look. Hey great looking shop.
As always full view & 👍# 19. I would have been first but a long day yesterday & I fell asleep early 😞
    Stay well, Joe Z

I had a father in law that could do this in his sleep. It wasn't so much of him being a cheap ass which he was, but he enjoyed the challenge of doing it with spoons. Now that I have inherited his prized spoons, I'm not afraid to work any lawn mower tire replacement. I will not however do a car or truck tire by hand, my time is too valuable.

That was quick, kudos to you! If you see anything I'm doing wrong, I'd be glad to know. Also, when you get to the end... sorry for the spoilers, but I'd be glad to know what you think of that rim. I'm defaulting to "it's done for" but curious of other thoughts.

Ok so you are half way there every rim has whats called a drop center so when you pull up the bead on one side you need to force the opposite side of the tire down as far as you can that will slide the bead into the drop center of the rim. Once you have that accomplished get another bar and star prying close to the first bar the key to manual tire changing is small bites. Once the first bead is off put the bar all the way through the tire and grab the bottom bead and pull the whole tire up and pry over the duck head then go from underneath and pry the bead over the wheel in small bites. If that becomes an issue you can remove the wheel tire from the changer filp it over on the ground and peel the wheel from the tire backwards. As for the rim there are usually rim repair shops that can fix those with no problem buy it may be cheaper to check a junk yard first

To tell the truth, I can't figure out if this guy really has two left hands or if he tries to scare everybody off. Maybe it little bit of both, hard to tell! Hint - it's really not that hard, but you have to have the right tools as well as knowledge. Now what about balancing??
