OK for an alpha. Lots of work to do on this one. They really need to work out the system performance/optimizations. Frame drop is killer. I think you nailed it that they invested a lot on the graphical engine and framework but need to put a lot more meat on those bones. I still think the title won't be truly ready for mass adaptation until end of 2025.
I agree with all your comments except regarding the FFB. I would suggest that you turn off all the FFB effect sliders except for Steering Sensitivity, set at 40, and Vibrations set to 100%. Then set in game gain to 55, and set your wheel base to suit whatever you like.
True. Once FFB is set up correctly you can't goback to AC & ACC. Its definetly an early build ealy access. But its already so fun. So hooked to race s2000 or Ford Cosworth online
Early Access version 0.1, ZERO point ONE - feels rushed. Ok sure. 35 hours in 0 crash, never seen that from any alpha or beta I took part in and I am trying to the thing to crash. Also there is clear misconception of what an early access title is released for, most folks expect a demo or a beta, I expect to test the base game mechanics over the course of its update cycles. This first release is clearly there to test the game stability and provide the base physics. It's all there, you just need to scratch under the surface (i.e. what an early access buyer should be doing). We can argue long over what to expect of an early access, but fact is most folks are riding he clickbait trail. You lost a sub today.
To be able to deliver an open beta (which is what Early Access is at the end of the day) your software has to be at an open beta level of maturity. And if the server users NEED to be able to use your software - based on what you told them you were delivering - goes down catastrophically on day one and on day seven it's still not up and running, your software is not at the level of maturity of an open beta. Now, you say that for you, Early Access needs a lower level of maturity than even a demo. That's your prerogative, but it's not what is generally understood as an Early Access release, and it's for certain not what Kunos had promised they would deliver. And while you had zero crashes, I saw three of them when using VR. Zero on pancake as I said. And if after eight minutes and 12 seconds of arguments declaring the context and the pros and cons you think our video was clickbait... well... ok then...
Agreed, honestly my first attempt was a mess, too laggy, a lot of random freezes and bugs, but after the 0.1.2 I tried once more with a little bit more patience, and achieve a good amount of FPS, solved the freezing problem fixing the FPS direct on Nvidia driver and the experience was much better, except for the FFB. The sim is showing, at least for me, a huge improve on suspension and tyres physics and maybe the users (me included) was expecting a more "detailed" FFB maybe, but everything feels too dampened, so after trying a lot of configs and put everything that's related to damp on 0 in game, the experience was a lot better. UI and IA honestly I didn't expect more than this, kkk. The controls tab is confusing, but at least it's able to detect new devices instantly without needing to close the game and you can config different device buttons to do the same action, it was not the best approach, but you can, for example, change wheels between sessions and everything will work fine, without the needs of an external application (like a simhub), it was good. I hope it can keep improving overtime and already shows a "good" base for the future. The price is region based and at BR it's equivalent to 15~20US$, so it was a hell of a price.
Honestly, seeing as the physics seems to be there, the FFB is just a question of time. I really was not expecting it to be there yet. I agree there mostly seems to be a good base. That they haven't solved thir server issues yet tho is preoccupying.
I hope I'm not going to be prevented from driving all of the cars until I've unlocked them with Academy challenges. That would be really annoying. Apart from that, I'm on the Not Bothered side. I bought it assuming it would be terrible but have no doubt that Kunos will sort it out over time. I'm waiting for VR to work properly before I reinstall it, personally.
Don't ask me why guys, but ACE is 19€ here in Mexico, a huge discount compared to 32€. I've bought it because I think it's worth it compared to V1.0's price. However, I'm not happy as a lot of you, I can't even open it right now and I'm following all the guides and discussions on Steam. As my plan was to buy it just for the price, right now I'm not writing to Kunos or send a ticket, not yet at least, I've got a lot of other games to play so it's not the end of the world. I hope a future patch within the next few days could solve the issue tho, if not I'll let Kunos know. Definitely not a smooth start, they should have released the EA one or two months later and have everything ready and tested.
You can't even start it? Is your computer within the minimum specs? All drivers updated? I ask because as you can see I had no issues starting it and having it run kinda smoothly.
@@WromWrom it's a 3 years old laptop with 16gb of ram, Ryzen 5 but a bad GPU. However, as you can see on the "discussions" section on Steam, there are a lot of people who 100% meet the minimum requirements who are struggling in the same way. I've already tried several fixes that worked for a lot of people, I've disabled the Windows Defender access to the specific ACE folder, I've deleted the ACE folder within the Documents, I've switched off the firewall for a couple of seconds... However, so far nothing worked. Weird. I'm gonna try it again this weekend.
You know the Gaming industry is in a terrible state when a professional games studio like Kunos is releasing a Alpha build of a game to the public for money. It's embarrassing in my opinion. We don't buy unfinished movies, We don't go to a restaurant and pay for uncooked food. I own Beta versions of console games. You would never release it for sale. 20+ years ago developers had pride and shame. I'm yet to see a video where AC Evo runs smooth. Why not Finish the game then release it??? If you make a polished and complete product then people will pay full price for it. That way you avoid the negative backlash. It's not rocket science. Steam's Early-Access scheme was meant to be for Indie game developers who are making games in their free time and don't have the time to make the whole game in one go. "Double A" and "Triple A" Devs are being paid "Top Dollar" and they are working on the game 24/7. They should not be using Early-Access. They are Full-Time Professionals, It's a Disgrace.
Curious: did Kunos approach you guys prior to the release at all? They did hire up a number of youtube influencers to give this - allow me to be extra polite here - "fully under baked cake" a glowing first impression. Case in point: the dude with 2 million subscribers that goes by AR12. Others that didn't divulge they received money from Kunos include Coach Dave and so many others that wasted no time making this sound like the greatest sim of all time. I mean, just how obvious can you get? Anyway, you guys have integrity, you call it for what it is and I get the feeling that you wouldn't be swayed by a carrot hanging off a stick. So perhaps you are not the kind of influencer that Kunos would know better to approach. I've gone as far as calling this a scam (given that the price tag for this atrocity of a release is Can$42) and the fact that Kunos has been hiring influencers to promote an early access release has only confirmed my belief. I mean, who does that? If you must pay someone to promote something that you fear isn't good enough and must resort to paying influencers, then why not wait until the full game release? The last words in your video were "lets wait until fall". As a software developer do you really hold hope that this will become a 1.0 release by then give all that you've seen from this uncooked cake?
Kunos did not approach us in any way. I have not heard of any youtubers getting money, but I suppose any who may have would keep it under wraps. Thanks for the kind words. We work on keeping it honest, and even if we'd have any sponsoring we'd make it public - and it would not sway our opinion one way or the other. So yeah, give us the carrot but be prepared for us to call uncle even so. On the other hand, I don't think it's a scam. It's just an Early Access release with a couple of big issues (server is the big one for me) and a couple of small issues. Some of them should have been caught before release in my opinion, but I'm not privy to the conversations Kunos had. I DO think Kunos will apply themselves in getting this sim in shape, as they did with AC and ACC. They have a good, positive history. For now. I may be wrong, of course...
@@WromWrom Right there at the bottom of the screen. At least he's honest enough to disclose this, while others are clearly hiding what I believe to be a paid ad by Kunos: ua-cam.com/video/jTGeEtrH04A/v-deo.html
Oh, well, good for him? I'm not sure I'd accept such a deal at all tbf. Anybody who'd want to sponsor us wold have to do it for longer than one video. and certainly not for the video where we review the product. If that is not a major conflict of interest, I don't know what is.
@ And this is the reason why I trust you guys, you call it for what it is and aren't afraid to offend anyone that may take exception to your opinions. However not everyone adheres to such integrity and are happy to take money for their positive "reviews". Unfortunately we live in a world of eager audiences that are willing to turn a blind eye to what to me is a blatant attempt at marketing a sub par product. Shame on Kunos for doing this. Shame on their sales dept. for the hiked up price of Can$42 for this release, double what the US pays and no where near the proper exchange rate. What do they think of Canadians, that we're suckers?
As far as I know regional pricing differences are set up by steam, but it's not something I've delved too deeply into. It may be Kunos' fault, it may be Steam's. And thank you very much for your trust. We work on not breaking that. Ever. OTOH that p!sses off companies who'd be inclined to send us stuff, not to speak of potential sponsors. Oh, well...
AC Evo is in Early Access. Its still in development. Of course its going to feel rushed. Now if this video was about my favorite racing game Forza Motorsport, you'd be on to something. 😂😂😂
EA is no excuse for what they have delivered, it's time for developers to go back into a closed beta stage before releasing as anything. MSG & Kunos has shown they are not at EA stage with their latest titles, and that sim users will buy any crap put onto the market. Sad days ahead if this continues, all it does is make me want to play 10/20 yr old sims that still compete with the crap of today's releases.
For me with triple screen the graphical experience is terrible and has no sense. To have the max fps I have to put graphics at ultra?!?!! If i reduce any graphical quality it reduces fps. But actually at top quality, graphics are terrible, to the point of see where the poligons connect (ps1 style) and the kerbs are poligonal not circular, also the palette of colours is poor (kind of old game colours) I can't understand. FYI I have a rtx 4080, and rest of components are "quality" (Asus b650e-f, 32 gigs trident 6000mhz 30cl., ryzen7... .) Obviously, there is some kind of hardware problem, but not happening with any other game. I can see videos all around and that is not what I can see in my screens)
I'll start with the classic question: Are the GPU drivers up-to-date? Any other drivers maybe need updating? (it may be something crazy like the HDD/SSD drivers or firmware) I ask because while the VR experience was not the best, it was acceptable for an EA release - and VR normally is more taxing than triple screen. In general, graphics are one of the things than get better with time, as the developers find ways to reduce graphic load and thru the many users find out were the code can be streamlined. I remember that on the Sim Racing Expo ACEvo was always only running on one monitor. That was in October on a demo version, but maybe the issues they had then have not been corrected completely yet. I hope your experience gets better with time.
Its a bit rough now. But the issues will be resolved its currently at version 0.1.3 so far from being polished yet. We see a completly different game in a month or 2 with early access release 2. The full release will be completly different beast to what we play now. The server issue is getting resolved next week.
@ the beta was just a way for kunos to see where the problem was. Its now offline. Kunos are releasing a patch next week to give it back online for everyone.
Its releasing next week the beta was just for kunos to solve the issue. You can lo longer access the beta. I have not played anything this week. I wait for next week update and that should be the time for content drop 1 as well.
They had 10 years to develop the ai in AC and it never got beyond terrible. So I wouldn't be too confident about major improvements in ACE.
I hope you're wrong, I fear you're right.
The AI drives like me.
I'm in no rush. I'll wait for the Worm Wrom 2 yhumbs up. Sounds like it will take a while.

All that in game damping just kills the feel. You should treat ACE like you treat rF2. Simple and no fluff.
Today I lowered speed sense to 40 too.
Just about any DD base will work with ACE if you turn down all that in game crap.
I think it's a very good start a good beta version. The cars mostly feel good.
get well soon Cody
He is, luckily. Needs some time without sim racing, about one week more.
thanks! I couldn't pick a worse couple weeks to recover from hand surgery lol
