Yeah the HF lift has some definite advantages over a DIY wood platform like mine with obvious trade-offs. I'm curious, what don't you like about it? My biggest complaint is the weight making it difficult to stow away when not in use.
that is a nice looking unit. the only concern i would have, a this is because i have had a quick jack for about 3 years, is that the 2 lifts start acting differently and don't go down at the same rate. they seem to move up at the same rate, but not down. now that is when they are 4-5 feet apart under vehicles, so maybe together they are fine. still a nice looking unit
Do your quickjacks have the air canisters on them? Mine do and that's meant to hold between 40-50psi. These air cylinders held push the quickjacks back down. If one cylinder has bled off air pressure they will go down at different rates.
@@DadModsMedia yes, unless you check them all the time, you only know they don't work when they don't work. also, even when they are full, it is not an exact match. now the lift is getting about 5 years old and used fairly often so it may just be an age thing

It may be worth calling Quickjacks and asking if there's anything to check over, like are the pins getting corroded, bolts need to be retorqued...etc. Mine are around 5 years old, and if you follow the channel you'll see how often they are lifting my stupid toys, yours shouldn't be having those issues.

So I used a stain (can't recall the exact shade), but I believe it is a Valspar. You should be able to get the same color at Home Depot. Then it's clear coated.
Where there a will there's a way! These quickjacks can handle 5000lbs so there's no issue there. Building the platform to handle the track width of the Spyder would take a little adjusting in the dimensions but you absolutely could build one! Heck, with some extra work you could make a removable center for accessing the underside of the Spyder too. 😉
At 5000 pounds per pair, couldn't you just use one of them and build a wider base frame and mount in centered in the structure? Seems to me that 2500 pounds is more than enough for any bike. Either way, cool project!
Yes you could and I believe the pump does allow you to use on lift frame, so you could de-couple one and build a frame. The one main thing I would caution is balance. These frames aren't very wide so in the case of using a single frame I would engineer something a little different with supports/folding legs. I'd have to give it a lot of thought. Not sure
It's not terrible but if you have a heavier bike I'd suggest adding a texturing material to the poly. My bikes are easy to manipulate so I haven't had concerns about slipping [yet].

Well, we recorded one a couple weeks back explaining everything, and the damn audio was clipping like crazy. It was a great chat too. Not sure what to do with it because the audio is just so rough.
You are absolutely right. Unfortunately, with this platform, I found that it has to be wide like this to avoid being tippy. Now if you had a way to add weight to the Quickjacks, that could help keep the platform planted to the ground. Maybe as simple as some sand bags or if you have a home gym you could use some 45lb plates.
Only change I would have made is to put one 2x4 down the middle and size the platform based on the width of the two jacks. It would have given you a narrower platform overall.
$250 my ASS! the hydraulic pump was $200 alone, the hydraulic rams were $110 each, the hydraulic hoses total was $65, the hydraulic oil was $40 the track bearings were $25, the 12 volt 35 ah battery for the pump was $80, all the metal to build this was $320. The wheels to move the table around was $80,,, total cost was $920.00 Amigo!
This is a project for those of use that already have Quickjacks for our car and/or trucks and would like to expend the use without the $800+ accessory from Quickjack to do the same thing.

Do you use the rubber lifting blocks under the platform or just let it sit on the quick jack frames themselves ?
I do not use the rubber pads. I find the metal frames provide a nice flat surface for the lift table.

The Quickjacks get you around 20" of lift, if that's not enough for you then you may want to just buy a engineered motorcycle lift.

Hi James, these lifts are Quickjack 5000SLX lifts. They are at-home lift for my vehicles/projects.
Only problem I see is how wide it is. It will difficult to get close to the side of the bike, especially while sitting on a stool...

Table seems to be too wide, difficult to work on the bikes
